My guess is that some people who are upset about the delays fear that there is a chance of losing their money. They'd rather get their money refunded now, since that appears to be a sure thing, rather than risk it later (if it turned out to be a scam or fxtec were to go bankrupt...and to be clear, I don't think it is a scam, but some people from some countries do have that fear). The other reason could be that they need a phone sooner rather than later (due to issues with their current phones), and have been in that state for a number of months, so they are reaching their limit for wait3 points

Their communications could definitely improve, but there could be reasons this happens, i.e. internal communications quite suboptimal, simply having no idea what to do. People keep telling they'd be just happy if they were more clear but I don't really believe that even to be honest, if they tell they don't know people will be demanding to know, if they tell an exact date they will probably fail at predicting it as they depend on quite a few third parties (and people will be even more confused and upset). People want their phone now and there is no real thing to show yet so they're anxious, an3 points

But what about the fact that Fxtec on numerous occasions tried to make an impression that the phone is almost ready? They said payment only just before shipping, one of delay was only because of "licenses"and Chinese holidays, not because of production. In the beginning of September they said that shipping pre-orders will start mid-September and to tell this phones should be already on their way to warehouses from the factory. Instead of telling the truth they were dishonest at least. They probably knew that they can't deliver phones but decided to keep writing things that they had to know tha3 points

I just would like to mention it was a preorder and in this category, things may happen. It is definitively not an easy thing to do any similar projects. I hope we will see some delivered phones soon and other phones will also arrive in a few weeks. That may give some patience also for others who are still waiting.3 points

I don't get it why some users here are threatening to cancel their order because of the delays. If you cancel now, you won't get a pro1 at all and I think that is not your final goal, is it? And I, for instance, won't give up my position in the queue. 😉2 points

If they go out of business, they won't have any money to return to us. I don't suppose they have kept our money in a segregated client funds account. So, in that unlikely event, we would be claiming money from the liquidators (there won't be any money) or from our credit/debit card providers (which will work, or not, depending on the Ts&Cs of those providers, and the laws of whichever countries we happen to live in). So let's hope that doesn't happen, then.2 points

Don't get me wrong here, I'm primarily looking at feasibility. As they dismissed the hard case as a hopeless project, I want to see how good we can get it with standard components. I mean I'm not going to use say £2-300 on a custom designed leather case, that then proves to be so useless in real usage, that it ends in the bottom of a drawer. But if we can get something good DIY, then we know for sure a professional custom made could be good too. The first attempt works reasonable, but until I get some tape or the like not on the fingerprint.2 points

Yup, how many years was the galaxy fold to be launched "next year"? Five?2 points

We need to be clear about this, even if "close to dispatch", that's still weeks away from customers hands.2 points

Hey Community The title of this thread is "info on production status" . But i find every other infos but nothing about the production status.... So, could someone please say if there are any informations about the 2nd batch? About more delay or about where my preordered phone is?? Thanks guys2 points

Sorry, I had missed the previous messages. Also, I was trying to ask what cases you have already bought? I am wondering if F(x)tec could share actual dimensions (like 3D model) with the community so we would have better tools to find or create case for Pro1?2 points

As you will find out, it is really hard to operate the PRO1 while it is in a pocket of some pants.... so a pocket is an alternative to a sleeve, not a case. And on the coffee thing, just eat the beans and drink the water, much simpler 😜1 point

I drink coffee black and put no cases on my phones (my front left pants pocket is the "case)." Life is so much simpler. 😉1 point

What you've said makes a lot of sense. You know it's funny, looking back and thinking about how my own attitude has changed. I remember telling people at work about the phone excitedly. Then later when those people asked about it I remember explaining about the delay and saying "oh you know, small UK startup". But I don't feel like that know. I still want the phone but I don't have much faith in FXtec right now. And yes, the case was a dick move, which has contributed to my feelings.1 point

This is wrong. I have lost any trust in FX. This had happened in 2 wave. First everything was silent or OK for the 29 of October, and on the said day they talked about a month of delay. Dick move, they knew they wouldn't be on time way before. It's not like half of the phone went KO. It made me doute them. Then they cancelled the hard case who was supposed to be shipping with the phone AFTER they where send. This was another thing they purposefully didn't talked about but knew about it. There, right there i considered them as immoral and not trustworthy. Rather then whine a1 point

I don't think it's because of the delays. The communication has been so bad - in fact bordering on dishonest, some people have said - that there's a feeling almost of customers being cheated. I believe a lot of the cancellations and threats to do so are essentially a protest. FXtec aren't listening to people on the forum. The customer support doesn't seem to know or be able to do much beyond vague responses. But there's one thing that people can do to send a clear message to FXtec.1 point
-
To get their money back so they might buy a phone right now? Because they fear fxtec might be bankrupt before delivering their phones? Because they're sick of waiting or the communication or something and don't want to support a company like that? I can think of plenty of reasons, even if I disagree with them all.1 point

Right. If they need to manufacture let's say 1000 additional phones, that means they need to order at least 1000 PCB and the assembly of 1000 PCBs which means they need to order electrical components of at least 1000x of every parts. There are places who does this, but components may come from other countries / distributors. Also some components are not available from one distributor, so they may not only come from one distributor. When the PCB is manufactured and components are available, then assemble should be done - it means 1000 assembled PCBs, not anything more than that. It may n1 point

yeh its true, but thats why i never signed up for fold. i did watched and followed this planet cosmos for quite a while but since they did clearly stated that there is no date yet for shipping so i didnt signed up for that. i just cant get my head around why is it too hard, or atleast if its really that hard for the first project to take off then i wish FX could explain.1 point

well i can wait if i see a light. say if FX again announce delay in mid nov then it will look like we dont know whats happening. but thanks netman, you guys do give me some hope1 point

Guys i must admit that its by far the most worst experience i ever have buying online. I have been with this since feb and by now i think i am loosing it. it just drags on and on. everyone here go to the extreme level to guess all about batching and when is shipping. thats what FX could be doing. but they are just keep dragging forever. Mid nov is no far so we will see what happens. i am too considering to cancel order because its just turning into a nightmare.1 point

As a reminder, we have decent information on the 2nd batch: Another 25 days1 point

No more information about the second batch yet, the first batch has still not reached the customers either. Also, this forum isn't an official source for information, as we were told recently. Edit: That was already said by others, sorry.1 point

When I receive refund from Ebay / Paypal or Aliexpress, it also take several business days to appear at my local bank. I think these things are usually not fast. It I send money abroad from my local bank it also takes some business days but it depends on the method I use to send (which have higher fee for a faster method). So I'm not wonder if it takes time...1 point

Unfortunately Fxtec did not give much info about any other batches than the first one. There is only vague and contradicting info but it all of it mention "Mid-November". It was first mentioned as shipping date but seeing that even first batch still wasn't shipped makes me doubt that they could ship second batch mid-November. Mid-November is from 15th to 20th November according to what support wrote to me. Also, depending on your order number and how fast you paid after receiving the payment mail there's a chance that you phone can be included even in the third batch unless you are1 point

The last news about 2nd batch is a reply on twitter saying it's less than a few weeks away, pretty much ready to ship to warehouses also.1 point

Any info on here is really unofficial anyway, so you need to contact support@fxtec.com, who should be able to tell you better1 point

Would be nice. Until they do, feel free to ask, and I will try to measure. But as things are curved/smoothed it can be hard to reduce to a few relevant measurements.1 point

CM11 (Kitkat) defiantly didn't include gapps which is when I started using it.... what version are you using that included gapps? Must be old version. I think way way way back they included gapps but at some point google said no, so they removed em. opengapps.org shows the various options for installing gapps, there are minimal versions with just enough for play store, if that's what you want.1 point

It took me a week to transfer money from my bank to theirs, so a bit of patience is needed. The physical appearance seems to be a safety "feature" to prevent people booking their money back while already receiving a phone. For a small company that would mean a lot of trouble.1 point

Compared to some other keyboard phones it's going to be quite heavy, but it carries more battery and is of course bigger. Motorola Milestone 169g Motorola Droid 4 179g Motorola Photon Q 170g I hope the balance will be good for typing with an opened display.1 point

I believe this pre-dated that type of processing. I know current camera apps do a lot of that after they get the raw data from the sensors. Back then, I think it was mainly in how the drivers talked to the hardware. Hopefully, the google camera app ports will cover this issue for the Pro1 on LineageOS *if* the fxtec camera app doesn't work there for some reason. I don't see their camera app not working there though, unless they feel there is more value in keeping it to themselves. To be honest, I've always assumed the google camera app ports would work better anyway, since they have1 point

I appreciate the efforts here in trying to update people, but the previous update was " Product on the way from warehouse to regional fulfillment centre ", so it went from going from the warehouse to going to the warehouse. Not to mention that they were going to the warehouse since the 29th. Clearly the word "warehouse" is being used for a lot of different things, which is technically correct, but it makes any effort in trying to figure out what's exactly being said pretty hard. Best I can guess is that they're in the continent, but not shipped to customers yet.1 point

Let us hope that it will be such a huge success, that it makes room for variants, and not one model only.... Different people, different usage patterns, different needs/wishes.1 point

As I wrote: "The first has arrived for the Note7", so as the first i have not tried others (yet), see also previous posts in this thread. I have ordered 16 different cases, and will report as they come in.0 points
