  1. To answer your question directly, Android has its own unique init system (not based on sysvinit or upstart or anything else). The init "language" declares various things, including services (eg. daemons). Services by default are restarted when they crash/exit, infinitely many times. They can be marked "critical", in which case the device reboots when they crash too often (5 per minute, I believe), or "oneshot", in which case they are not restarted at all. Your symptoms could be either software or hardware. Software issues might be a service that continually crashes or even mayb

  4. My proximity sensor has a strange delay in dialer app when I'm moving phone away from my face. It takes 2-5 seconds to turn display back on after I move the phone away from my ear and I can't end the call during that time, which is very frustrating. Detecting when I put it back near my ear works almost instantly and is not an issue. Testing the proximity sensor in factorykit doesn't have that issue, status of the sensor changes instantly both ways. It looks like some artificial delay in dialer app or a bug in dialer app itself. Anyone has this problem? I've also found that using some

  6. For those in the UK, here is where I got my black stickers-- had to use a roundabout method to get them as they won't ship to US. I don't know if they ship to EU or not. Yeah, way more than any one needs, but they fit perfectly. https://www.ebay.com/itm/1600-COLOURED-DOTS-5mm-STICKY-CIRCLE-STICKERS-CODE-PLANNER-CHART-LABELS-ROUND/181524874653?var=480486707280&hash=item2a43b9c59d:m:mETVYHv6c0nGe17rnMZwyCg If you are in the US, I am happy to send you some in a business envelope.

  8. Hmm that is odd. I would suggest to try a restart first. It OUGHT to be able to update. Note though that I have experienced when the app can not see the net, that it sometimes just says that there are no new updates, when there actually is.

  9. We somewhere got confirmed that it does NOT support PD. And as @Muth said you should take care and only use high power charging when you really need it, as it shortens the overall life-span of the battery. It is quite like junk-food: Very convenient, single usages are not problematic, but general usage will reduce life-span. See other threads on the subject or e.g. this.

  10. I know batteries are evolving, however I'm wondering if charging regularly at more than 1C (faster than one hour or more than 3.2A on 4.2V for the pro1) is still reducing the overall battery lifetime. Personally I try to not let discharged less than 20% and plug a 2A 5V charger. But I agree, in some situations a quick charge totally make sense.

  14. I think you might be right. Has anyone seen this since the April 2020 update on other devices?

  15. It could be that that security update itself took care of that. My guess is that something was fixed to prevent background services to hide themselves. TBH I like it. At least you know when something is going on. I too noticed a few other icons popping up, doing their thing and then vanishing again. Therefore it's probably nothing new with the wireless update itself. It is just that now you can see it.

  17. Two broken Pro1 for the price of three brand new ones, it is a bargain. You also have to consider that one of them is actually both: broken and brand new 🤣

  19. I've had to reinstall the version that Chen posted as part of the flashing back to stock after trying out Ubuntu Touch for a day (it looks promising, but still needs to mature somewhat). Unfortunately now when I check for updates it states that there are no updates available beyond the September 2019 security update, current version: QX1000_EEA_05500.19Q401_20191111-1505 Anybody with any ideas on how to update to the latest version?

  26. I now think this problem might not be due to Wireless Update itself, but some wider change in the 20200620 update. This is because I have seen increased notifications from three other apps, which I'm sure weren't happening prior to this update. In particular, these were Tor Browser, Handy News Reader, and Etar. The behaviour is similar, in that a notification from these apps appears for a couple of seconds then disappears, with nothing of substance in the notification itself. In the case of Tor Browser, the notification icon is the exact same plain circle that Wireless Update shows (the o

  32. Hi, I have a Pro1 since late December. I like it, I like the keyboard, it does not rattle more than it should and I have no problems with the screen apart of an always-on, but hardly noticeable pixel. However, since a while, I have noticed if I restart it, the starting of the system is hard (it is the stock Android). If I start using it, it complains about "system" is not responding, lock screen does not come up after unlocked, restart / shutdown does not work and not all applications are available... but it goes black after maybe a minute, then it restarts (it does not asks for

  33. Have tried a restart and also done a factory reset as well (so for now I've installed only the essential apps!) and no luck. Attempted to connect over WiFi and Mobile but to no avail. I've also force stopped the Wireless Update apps to try and get it to start over, no bueno. Is there a way to flash the latest version manually? I could try flashing the original again, not sure if it'd work..
