  1. Okay, so it has been about a week with my Pro1. Software I decided to go with LineageOS, because it seems that it will be updated more frequently. LineageOS on the Pro1 works perfect, no unexpected shutdowns or crashes. Using keyboard shortcuts and arrow keys to scroll (especially with the modifier to scroll to top/bottom or ctrl-tab to switch tabs) in Chrome just feels so right. I am waiting for the Vimium Firefox extension to be compatible with Android to enjoy browsing with vim mapping. I use most applications in the Terminal (Termux), for example vim for coding or aerc to e

  2. Ended up going the same route as @Hook and it makes the phone way less slippery and looks pretty good IMO. Ordered this skin for the Note 10. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07Z7CGZ87?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share Had to trim off a little on the right edge and connect the mic hole to the camera hole.

  5. Try apkmirror for Netflix. I haven't tried straight download from Netflix website, so it might be newer version or something. It is also possible that Magisk is needed to hide root, to make Netflix work. I haven't tried without Magisk. About Magisk, I am not a guru, far from it. Not an android guru either, but I have some experience in Linux systems, which help a bit. But Magisk itself is quite straightforward stuff to install and set up (apply MagiskHide for apps you don't want to see root). The props config is little bit trickier, you need a terminal app to set it up but there's quite g

  6. I feel that having a one-stop shop for network compatibility information will be valuable. Please post as you attempt to use the Pro1 with the various networks, and the experience you have. I will maintain the top post as a list. For example, Verizon, couldn't activate—T-Mobile, buggy, no LTE—AT&T, working perfectly. Anything you wish to add beyond that will help clarify my summary and help others get their Clack connected. The absence of a carrier from this list doesn't mean it does or doesn't work; it just means I've not seen anyone say so. Let's get compatibility documented for the non-

  7. Just did my first full battery charge of the Pro1 and it was really fast. Rather than using the provided charger I used my Huawei Super Charger and it felt like it was charging just as fast as my Huawei P30 Pro. I'm a happy customer 😁

  8. As TMO Forum is somewhat off-topic to the subject, then I post it also here - decided to offer my F(x)tec Pro1 for sale. Link to the original announcement is here.

  9. Yes. I also end up in "network settings" of my carrier after selecting "wifi calling" in the results of the search. In this page network settings, I also do not have a menu "wi-fi calling" .

  10. I was able to do it with Tasker, simply add an Keyboard Out (Inverted) State to trigger Display Off and Lock.

  11. The odd thing is that if I in Stock settings search start to type "wi-fi-calling" it knows where the setting is supposed to be - it just do not display (It displays correctly on LineageOS) Stock: LineageOS

  12. Good advice. Questions: 1. Any recommendation for doing backup before beginning? 2. Is it the same install procedure for Magisk as AddonSU as oulined in the LOS docs? Most online resources for Magisk uses TWRP, which I understand is not quite ready yet the pro1 when using LOS.

  13. I have the same question. I did not find the option how to enable calls over wifi (e.g. option to receive calls on your phone number over the home wifi, when the 4g network is not good at your home). I am on stock android 9. My carrier mentioned that they cannot activate this on their side, it has to be done on the phone. I could do this on the samsung of my wife and the iphone of my son, but did not find this option on the pro1. By the way: I have seen swisscom (CH) is not on the list on the first page of this thread. No problem with network compatibility (4G)

  14. Try something like adb shell settings put global sms_outgoing_check_max_count 99999 adb shell settings put global sms_outgoing_check_interval_ms 9000 It is a silly default set way too low IMHO.... Note that is is counting the INDIVIDUAL SMSes that is roughly each 157 char for plain A-Z type, and 67 chars if at the least one unicode char is used. So a lengthy SMS sent to a several friends (bulk not chat) can easily hit the default ceiling,

  15. This is my suggestion, like my old Samsung Relay... https://drive.google.com/file/d/13Ana1Qlxyfm1NtVNbyXWPbe1jq3KJHyk/view?usp=sharing And if you want, have a choice of color, for the Relay we still have choices; https://www.ebay.com/itm/Hard-Cover-Phone-Case-for-Samsung-Galaxy-S-Relay-4G-T699-SGH-T699-Blaze-Q/390644533829?hash=item5af43a8a45:g:szQAAOxyaTxTQInS I'm sure there's a way to manufacture something like this...

  17. Unfortunately QC chargers does not come with a simple switch to select normal or quick charge (I have not found one yet). BUT you can easily find QC 3.0 chargers with two or more slots, where only one is QC. This is a very handy thing. Use the normal slots normally and only the QC3.0 one when you are really in need of it. See also this I use one found on ebay that provides 5W in two slots and 20W QC3 in the last one. it is 2.5cm thick, and 5x5cm excluding plug (85mm including EU plug) so not much bigger than other chargers.

  18. Oh my, the battery temperature should never ever reach 50°C. Actually, you want the battery to stay far away from 50°C, if you want it to last for a while. I always put my phones on a metal surface for cooling, when charging the battery. The fridge might be a little too cold though. If the battery itself drops below 5°C, you risk an internal short while charging. When a safety protection kicks in from charging the battery, regardless of the current capacity, something is wrong. Either the charging circuit was designed by someone who doesn't know anything about lithium batteries, or t

  19. Ctsprofile pass is doable via MagiskHide props config. And Netflix can be installed via direct download, like apkmirror. Not real solutions obviously, but good workarounds. Now my banking app tells sometimes that I have apps installed whichh use root and suggests uninstalling those apps, but it doesn't prevent using the banking app.

  20. Yes. But I do not use a vary fast charger normally. I try to use a charger offering 5W in normal usage, and only about 20W when I really need it. But even at 20W I do not have it go as high as 50°C, worst case in the forties. During fast charging usually peek at 42°C or lower. But once this year it has been above that, it reached 49.0°C on Feb 23. PS I use a shell case, and this actually makes the heating worse at at can not cool to the surroundings as easy (plastic with card board inlay()

  22. Mine arrived this morning. The delivery guy did a mistake yesterday reading the postal code, and was too far from me in his delivery routine when he saw that he still had the parcel. He told that Fedex will contact me by mail if they think I need to pay duties/VAT. It's on my desk, can't wait to unbox it 😍

  23. @Val Thank you for your support. It looks pretty similar in our case. Just it seems, that yesterday the phone was released for delivery. Lets see. With the invoice, I am going to do it the same way as you did. I am curious, what FedEx will ask for when it arrives.

  24. I also freaked out when I dropped my Pro1 for the first time. Now I have dropped it quite many times, and looks like it is really rugged as I haven't managed to break it yet. Looks like the black coating on the alloy shell is fairly thin and wears out easily. All the corners of my pro are more silver than black nowadays, but this is a mere beauty issue.

  25. I would say that a drastically different keyboard always takes some getting used to. I'm not typing fast on it (neither on a pc), but physical keyboards give me a LOT fewer errors than on a fake keyboard. And clearly faster on the Pro1 than the Priv for me, simply due the Priv's limited numbers of keys making Danish far from easy to type on the Priv. The swiping on the Priv could often help guessing the words with ÆØÅ before I needed to type it. On the other hand I got a lot of unwanted swipes trying to move the fingers quickly. So certainly do not miss the Priv keyboard.

  27. Actually, I find the physical keyboard on the Pro1 cumbersome to use. Too big? I have small hands. And find it hard to get up to typing speed. In fact, I have hardly tried to do so - find myself using the touch keyboard almost all the time. Do others have an experience that the keyboard can take some time to get used to? My fav keyboard phone was the Blackberry Priv which has a whole different kind of setup with a very small keyboard, comparatively.

  28. The keyboard itself doesn't have the functionality, it comes down to the keyboard software you pair it with. Swiftkey provides the said functionality.

  29. Deutsche Telekom (T-Mobile) is working fine for me, including LTE (4G). Only thing I that's not working is voice over Wifi (called "WLAN Call" on Telekom network). That would actually be very helpful for me (and was working great on my Samsung Galaxy S9) since in my office I have good Wifi connection, but mobile connection is very poor due to metal roof on the building.

  30. We are talking about c-rate which is derived from Coulomb's Law. See more from here: https://batteryuniversity.com/learn/article/what_is_the_c_rate So If you have 1000mAh battery and you are charging it 1A then it is 1C charging. For 2000mAh battery 2A would mean 1C.

  31. I'm wondering, what unit it is when you are talking about current? Current is measured in amperes (eg 1.5 A) but you are writing here "...with a maximum current of 1.5C."? Let's be correct and precise, gentlemen - it's physics 😉

  32. According to a few years old study, fast charging can degrade battery performance quickly if the charging current is higher than 1.0C. Characterizing Smartphone Power Management in the Wild Here is a very informative graph from the BatteryUniversity. So if you are charging your device over 1C, you might notice greater reduction in the capacity after 2-3 years. Most users are buying new device by then so it is not an issue to manufacturers. However, if you are planning to use Pro1 3-5 years or longer I would suggest to use a slow charger. I have collected a summary f

  33. I know batteries are evolving, however I'm wondering if charging regularly at more than 1C (faster than one hour or more than 3.2A on 4.2V for the pro1) is still reducing the overall battery lifetime. Personally I try to not let discharged less than 20% and plug a 2A 5V charger. But I agree, in some situations a quick charge totally make sense.

  34. How about an official FAQ thread or site? A lot of these 'new post' questions were asked before and a summary of answers would make the forum much cleaner. Especially the first change of settings really could be explained there.

  36. It does indeed charge fast when needed. But I will discourage the use of fast charging on a daily basis, as it heats the battery, and heat during charging shortens the lifespan of the battery significantly. So I advice to use the fast charge when in need, and a simple power source not above 5W (5V not above 1A) for daily usage. e.g. the USB port of a PC, or an old charger you got from an old phone. When charged while we are asleep, there are zero reasons to let it charge quickly. I usually compare fast charging with junk food, nice, convenient and it does not really harm if you eat it occ

  37. So guys, can you confirm i'm not the only one reaching almost 60C temperatures because of faulty battery/controller or anything? I see mention of a protective behavior of stopping the charging once temperature is too high. Can this be a sw issue?
