  1. Quoting from @EskeRahn's site, here is the Pro1 layout: ...and here is the layout they put into IGG page: Pro1's original QWERTY keyboard is shifted while Pro1-X's QWERTY keyboard is unshifted (look at near Q, A and Z letters).

  2. For what it's worth, the only hardware issue I had was with the USB-C cable. Bought a new one and it's all good. After several months of usage I'm still enjoying the phone. The new pro x looks like they took my suggestions of a bezel around the edges and adjusting the keyboard for f and j keys fall naturally on my thumbs (hope this is the case). The pro 1's experience was a 7/10 for me. Just a lot of customization that needed to be done to get it to a point I'm happy with.

  4. I find mine similar but cleaner. So there is a metal part at the two sides but not in the middle, it seems the connector was designed that way. Anyway, that Type-C connector was designed to be on a standalone panel, so it can be replaced more easily. However it is a question if F(x)tec has replacement panels, but a question may worth a try...

  5. However, if you have regular but different characters used frequently in your language, shifted keys also force them elsewhere which is a bit problematic mix. It is like "Γ©" was moved a row higher, "Γ‘" remained in place, "Ε‘" and "ΓΊ" was moved to the opposite side and a row lower, "Ε±" was moved to the opposite side, etc. This kind of mix is inconvenient and why try to learn it if I can go for an unshifted version?

  6. If we look at the data sheet on BOTH the FxTec pro1-page and the indiegogo it says "USB-PD Enabled", Note that it is under connectivity not battery like the QC3.0. So maybe they enabled it in a software update without telling us.... I'm pretty sure it has been discussed in here NOT being supported earlier.... But will get a PD charger to test it ....

  7. I haven't found a technical datasheet but it may be a software configuration during boot or also a hardware configuration which may need a minor modification like pulling a pin up or down or keep floating. So currently it is an open question. πŸ™‚ Right but having support of another protocol sounds really great if it is possible to support both at the same time.

  8. Hi I saw the campaign on the Pro1 X, and that there might be Windows on ARM (WoA) in development. This is really exciting! If this ends up working, i will buy this device in a heartbeat. I currently have a Lumia 950XL with WoA, and it runs really really well - despite the very outdated hardware, limited storage and limited RAM. All these problem will be solved with the Pro 1 X πŸ˜ƒ Furthermore the ability to have display out over HDMI out (which unfortunatly does not work for the 950 XL as of now), could really turn this phone into something really interesting and really good.

  9. Thanks, but I actually work split screen a lot and my real solution is to ban portrait only apps to my Moto G8 because, like everything else on that phone, including the phone itself, I don't use them very often. πŸ˜„ My serious work apps, where I am inputting a lot of text, don't seem to have any problems with landscape. Email, text editing, outliner, browsing, spreadsheets, terminal/SSH, file manager... all fine.

  10. Got it. Are they going to seel just the keyboards to us Pro1ers?

  11. To avoid having to use split screen you may want to take a look at that force landscape option from FX Service:

  13. It is technically possible. @Anssi Hannula is doing this with FinQwerty, Though this is for Stock, it is open source and I can not imagine that it can not be modified to suit LOS

  14. It took me a number of attempts too to get anything sensible. It is (relatively) much easier to get a photo of the other side.

  16. Checking again by eye with a bright lamp I can also see this on mine, I am sorry for any confusion caused. The top side I can't seem to capture on photo any good.

  17. Thanks! That looks similar to my device. I think that the issue might be somewhere else. Most probably it is a hardware thing but I am planning to flash LOS 17.1 when it is released just to be sure.

  19. Mine was recieved by them mid June and back in the middle of August, when I asked for an update, they also talked about 1-2 weeks. Then 6 weeks later, when I asked again, they said it is queued for service. I sent another mail a week ago, to which I have no answer so far.

  20. Mine does not have this cleft. It does on the other side than pictured but it's hard to see and even harder to get on photo.

  21. We are getting terrible off topic with this interesting debate on the shifting. Any good suggestion for a thread on the subject it could be merged to, or should we create a new thread? ...And rather that repeat myself on the subject, I will refer to this on my opinion on the subject,

  22. Definitively. Basically US keyboard is a bit shifted as alphabets are closer to your left hand while less frequently used keys are closer to your right hand. ...but have a look at this kind of keyboard for example and compare it with US layout: You may notice it is not shifted like US layout, as all of the "special" keys have meaning like Ε‘,Ε±,Γ©,Γ‘,ΓΆ,Γ,ΓΊ,ΓΌ,Γ³. If you shift it back to centre like it is with Pro1's shifted layout, then you mess up the layout above. So that is the problem with "shifting back" and a national keyboard. I will try to translate your following

  24. Well I can't say anything about that, since I use the US-Int Layout to type "Àâü" and so on. But why to learn something new? Because it keeps your hand centered on the phone. In the none shifted layout you either have to type more with your left thumb, what slows you down, or hold it unsymmetrical. I needed some time to get used to the none shifted numbers especially. But as said I have to say now. There is the possibility that the pros are bigger than the cons. But it is hard to tell without A and B Testing.

  25. I just can say, that you get used to it. Yeah it is strange at the beginning, but you have to learn a new thumb layout anyway. While I would have opted for a non shifted layout in the beginning, I am not sure if it is better once you are used to it.

  26. Snapdragon 835 supports Qualcomm Quick Charge 4.0 (which supports USB-PD) so maybe QC 4.0 can be enabled via software. It could be just a licencing thing? Qualcomm announces the Snapdragon 835 with Quick Charge 4.0 I just tested my Pro1 with USB-PD charger and the phone said that it was charging fast... BUT only if I plugged the cable right way. If I rotated the cable 180 degrees it didn't charge at all. So, I tested with the original charger that came with Pro1. (I haven't been using It for a while). It was only charging normally (no fast charging) but after many tries (plug

  27. Right, my problem with shifted QWERTY solution was the harder compatibility with international layouts and that is why I picked QWERTZ instead. So the reason was clear and it may successfully done its purpose (I haven't tried it), so they wanted to make a good decision for Pro1 but for people using any layouts other than standard QWERTY or the layouts Pro1 have, it may made usage harder. ...and yes, the shifted QWERTY but unshifted numerical part seemed to be the biggest real usage confusion if we are not counting international usages.

  28. ...We now get back to standard with "Q" under "1" et cetera πŸ‘πŸ‘

  29. I'm not super familiar with Intl keyboard layouts, but my guess is that keyboards for these languages are different than German. I setup the key map to match the labels, which I believe is German. Since the key map is fully customizable, I could add options for the language in settings. Say, qwerty, qwertz/German, qwertz/Swedish, etc. But I would need help getting those right.

  30. Thanks, I haven't noticed it and I am also sure it was not supported earlier. However, it seems they have added it and that means it was solved in software without hardware modifications. I have a power supply and also a power bank which supports PD but they also support QC3.0 so I can not really check it using them... πŸ™‚

  32. So turns out the phone was sent back (went to the apartment building and talked to them directly on Monday), but the phone was sent back almost immediately after it was received, so it's been over 3 weeks since it was returned to sender. I put a ticket request in to fxtec on october 27th to let me know what the status was on the phone that was sent out, to this day have not been responded to on that ticket. I'm hoping the phone was properly returned in the end...

I dont know from which version - my last daily used version was 14.1. Now is los more clean...for new users it is good...because they don't know nothing about old functions πŸ™‚ For me personally are custom settings really needed. I have on fx aosp extended for two months...it have all from lineage deleted functions + some more πŸ™‚ ...soo thanks to @tdm for another rom for fx πŸ™‚

  37. Ordered mine on 19 Feb. 2020 if memory serves me and I got it about 3 weeks ago. Since I've only had phones with a physical QWERTY keyboard, it was worth the wait. The device itself is all I wanted in a smartphone: a mini laptop, not a social-media centric slab that dangles awesome hardware specs in front of you with no adequate input method. πŸ™‚

  38. 1). I removed fingerprints and lock screens. Still no thumbnail to gallery. Most everything else should be the same as Zurvan, however I had only launched the camera using the camera button, never the app icon, until I discovered yesterday that using the icon gets me the link to gallery. I'm used to dedicated photo button from PQ and every camera I've ever used in my life, in fact I'd always thought pushing the screen to take photo was bad idea cuz I jiggle camera that way. I haven't taken enough photos to judge the button, but it is indeed mushy. Also, no shutter sound (even whe

  39. So here's the story: I ordered the phone on 7/31/2019 via the website because i love qwerty phones (Currently have a Blackberry Key Two) and wanted to get a new phone with the good old nostalgic experience of a slider. I received this email shortly after on the same day: I never ended up receiving a new email until 11/18/2019 where I received a processed order payment, as well as a followup email about my account being created. Fast forward to now, I saw an email about the new Pro X and was thinking about coming on and trying to see if i could swa

  41. Did you receive an answer yet SHiSH? My phone is still @ FxTec and I am still waiting on an answer/RMA for a second device lying here. My son for one gave up on FxTec. First his screen crapped out, now his camera. Still waiting for a response (6 business days ago) what to do with the phone. Yeah send it back, but not without an RMA. Which is why I'm curious if you're also still waiting.
