  1. Generally I feel much better to have a physical keyboard (I mean a moving keyboard instead of a screen). However, I saw (maybe here) an idea which used E-Ink on top of physical keys, which would be very handy. 🙂

  2. To be honest, even though I never use a case, I don't even notice the magnetic connector sticking out. It has never interfered with anything, never gotten caught on anything, I don't have paper clips attaching themselves to my Pro1 and it is very sturdy. It doesn't even wiggle in the port. It has become "invisible" to both my eyes and my fingers. I can't imagine not having magnetic plugs for any of my devices (have it on my Moto G8 Power as well-- Moto USB ports always mess up with continued use).

  3. @_DW_DW_ Yes, I am also interested to hear about your typing experience on the fold 2. And a side by side picture would also be very cool, if you have the time.

  4. Mine also does this, however, I am satisfied how it works. It does not rattle in closed position and although it rattles a bit in open position, I feel it is absolutely okay. However, I have a second Pro1 which is practically unused (never used by me other than a few times turned on which is much less than 10). It is because I feel it rattles really too much in closed position which frustrates me to a point which caused me to not use it although I wanted to use it for testing alternative OSes. However, it is not rattling in opened position. So, that one does not do this movement l

  5. Just for the record, for some time now I'm quite satisfied with the NetDot Gen10 (available through Amazon and ebay) type of magnetic connector cables. They look similar (if not identical) to what both Hook and Craig found. These cables are not cheap, but they work well mechanically and electronically, across USB-C and Micro-USB (and Apple would be an option, too) sockets for charging and data – although only USB 2, but that still seems to go for all of them as far as I can see. These do support quick charge – for which I couldn't care less. But I guess it's worth mentioning that the

  6. Hi all. Been using my pro1 ever since this good community helped me to fix software hitches. Thanks again 😉 So now after about a half year, the right side hinge (at the screen) started to become loose at open position. It rattles about half a millimeter; I wouldn't care about it much but it's started about two months ago with a barely noticeable wiggle and has gotten worse. I am pretty sure out of warranty now (unless you get a new full year warranty with a replacement unit?). Did this happen to any of you? This is not related to any fall (experienced my first fall just two days ago, doh) o

  7. Surprisingly, this worked. Thank you! I first flashed the original image as described here -> And then I installed uboot-installer 0.54-beta by cloning the repository and checking out this branch here and then running npm install npm start The first attempt failed as the Pro1 wouldn't boot into recovery mode, but after restarting the phone, exiting the installer, going back to the boot menu and restarting the installer it worked. It just took a long time before I got into the start menu. @Raksura pinging you here as you had a detailed list of what worked and what d

  8. It exists. A rather old Samsung thing ("SCH-U0750" also labeled " Alias ™ ² "). I found one on ebay for a modest price (if I remember right the shipping was half the total) It works fine, and the idea could be adopted to say a Pro2 or 3... Sure the change of layout is a little slow, but acceptable, even for showing symbol-layouts.

  9. I have also ran into a similar issue. One of the microcontrollers I use was unavailable in the factory (at PCB assembling company) and it was also unavailable at Farnell but I could order it from Mouser ...so I had to solder it by hand (TQFP-144 package). Currently, it is available also at Farnell and Mouser, but another microcontroller is still unavailable till April or May (pending order). Also there is a power-related IC I could only backorder (it was unavailable at PCBA company and at suppliers above), then it became unavailable again and currently there is a pending order whic

  10. https://slions.net/threads/open-source-web-browsers-for-android.76/ Thanks! Just for the record, Bitwarden works with the DuckDuckGo browser from your list. That said, the reply you've got to your github ticket does seem to provide the solution – one that probably was too easy to come to mind to either of us! 😄

  11. I've tried the LG G8X ThinQ and it's not bad but it is heavier and bulkier than my Pro1 with its leather bookcase. Also they should really improve the software. Having a mode where you could use the screen as keyboard in landscape like a hardware keyboard would be great. They have landscape soft keyboard but it behaves like a soft keyboard without modifiers and goes away when you are not editing text anymore. I think the Pro2 should be the same form factor as the Pro1 but with a screen instead of the physical keyboard. Well they could keep a transparent membrane keyboard I guess with the

  12. Yeah there is a general shortage of things when factories are closed for months and months these parts don't magically appear also they will side line anything that was just a small earner for bigger profit items.

  13. Try and re-install the offical android image then installed ubtouch. I also found the the latest installer didn’t work correctly, I had success with the installer version 0.54 on windows.

  14. Thanks for your advice. I know magnetic chargers and I've used them for a year now for my devices at work (tablet, phone, handheld scanner). But for a device I use many hours of the day, I don't like the idea of something sticking out. Especially since the charging port is really badly placed if you use your phone horizontally (I do that 99.9% of the time, even when checking the weather or browsing pictures) so it's always in the way. I'd love to have two ports or one next to the power button.Your advice is still good though. As much as I hate it, I know that I will brake the port in the next

  16. I tried flashing stable at first and now edge, both with the same result of the phone not booting. If anyone has any experience with Ubuntu Touch and is able and willing to help, this is what I can see in the /cache/ubuntu_updater.log file after waiting for 10 minutes for the device to start and then rebooting it into recovery mode: A/B slot system detected! Slot suffix is _b Formating: system system partition: /dev/block/bootdevice/by-name/system-b umount /system_root: Invalid argument mke2fs 1.43.3 /04-Sep-2016) Discarding device blocks: 4096/786432????????????????????????????

  17. I assume it does so because that USB-C port on the monitor is actually to connect it to the PC so that the monitor USB3 ports would work. It's pretty nifty doo, if I switch input on the monitor to USB-C, I get video from the phone on the monitor, anything I put in the monitor's USB3 ports is seen by the phone (memory sticks, keyboards, mice, etc.) and the phone charges at the same time. The monitor is a Dell P2419HC (not sponsored 🙂)

  18. How do I get a phone or refund? Endless delays is not anyway to conduct business no matter what the delays! 😝

  19. Look through your old stuff for a very early model USB-micro cable. Get a cheap (because they are) USB-micro to USB-C adapter and glue/ jam it on there. There you have it, a trustworthy cable, incapable of performing the handshake required to select fast charging.

  20. It seems to be quite big tolerances for the hinge screws, looked at mine 2 days ago. 1 of the screws where 1.65mm in diameter, the other one 1.78mm Will do an attempt to make new screws to se if that helps.

  21. Well, it was based on @LIMA plus inspiration from keyhanig as he aimed to make a tpu case not a rigid pla case, and finally some minor modifications to make it hold one to the top/bottom halves, lastly some changes were made to allow sailfish users to swipe from the edge. So i guess the credit goes to @LIMA and @Keyhanig for making this possible

  23. I did not perceive that anyone was called stupid here. @Rob. S. is right that keeping up the fantasy that all IGG backers could get a refund is not leading us anywhere. Fxtec have stated that they paid the SoCs already in December. The same will be true for other components of the Pro1-X. I.e., the money from the backers has already gone up the chain of suppliers and Fxtec could not repay all backers even if they wanted so. Increasing pressure on Fxtec through massive refunding claims would simply lead to them needing to file bankruptcy -- with the result of everyone here getting nei

  24. Yes it is two different issues. One is something gotten loose or worn, the last should be unlikely this soon. For the loose I too would check the screws as the first guess. Another is that the support-arm when closed are free, and thus can rattle a little if you shake the device, a tiny piece of ½-1mm thick self-adhesive rubber or felt can be placed in the 'groove' for it. to inhibit its movement.

  25. I had that from the beginning. Sent my phone in and they exchanged the right mount of the hinge. Then it was good for a while, but now it is rattling again. I think the cause is a combination of the asymmetric design and the fact, that the pin of the hinge sits directly in plastic. I think @EskeRahn found a way to dampen some noise by adding felt at a certain spot, but I am not totally sure, if that was about the same problem and in which thread it was described. Regarding the warranty: "The Pro1 comes with a 2 year warranty on the device, which covers any manufacturing defects."

  26. IDK. Tried the screws; they looked pretty tight - was in fact scared to tight them much more. From my point of view it seems one of the hinge shafts is loose in the bushing. Tried to video it, with my old phone, sorry for the quality 😃 ..hope it works at all, never shared a video yet. link ..the movement is very apparent front-back and less apparent top-down. Sometimes it makes a sort of low pitch squeaking sound.. Checking again in a half-open position: - the top (display side) right hinge is loose - the top left hinge is rock solid - both bo
