I see both pros and cons on both Full and Alpha, so if reasonably simple it would be nice to give the user the option to choose what each of us prefer.

Spontaneous reboots - discssion on possible causes
EskeRahn replied to VaZso's topic in Pro1 - Thoughts & questions
There sure are bugs in that code. I get substantially worse stamina when connecting to my WiFi router with 5GHz than 2.4GHz (Distance about 1m) I have given up using 5GHz for now. This goes for both stock and Lineage. (Otherwise both works fine here, I do not see the reboot issue) -
Let me try to add a mention of @Erik, hopefully he can help, or can find someone that can 😇

Before all this corona/covid stuff we had a thread with people that got a Pro1 and was willing to help others to get a chance of a hands on. A few scores replied, some in the US, so with a little luck some are close to you. Check this thread: https://community.fxtec.com/topic/2738-help-show-your-pro1-to-others-close-by/ And on the network thing as I understand it, it is complex with some carriers and easy with others. There are other threads on that, but I hope some US reader can kick in with the relevant links here. If I recall right it was @Craig that started that thread.

Well only if you assume that the ramped up production means the total product. It COULD just as well mean that they are ramping up the production of parts and perhaps part assemblies, but only when all needed parts are availably they can be finally assembled and become packed to become a batch. They could well have a component in critical supply that only allow them to ship a small batch this time. And by the mention of qwertZ my GUESS would be that it is the keyboard that is (now) the critical component as they now got enough of what was previous critical to make a small batch with

Let us hope an update maps stuff like those to some more odd an unlikely key-combos.

Comparing Keyboard Features - AOSP/Gboard/Swiftkey
EskeRahn replied to Craig's topic in Pro1 - Thoughts & questions
Are you sure you remember correct? It is there on LineageOS, but not stock. Where the keyboard repeats like a pc-keyboard. Even the fake keyboard does not give the superscript 1 longpressing the 1 key, unless you switch to number&symbol keyboard first (also suggesting fractions). -
Thanks for all the details. Yeah, it does look like it would be a bit hard to get a good result I guess it could be a possibility to make a minor cut for the secondary camera and a hole exposing the flash when slid up. And possibly you could reduce the height of the two 'jaws' to allow a better close, while still keeping a good grip. And anyway a (tiny) hole for the secondary microphone when down should be considered. The position might not be that easy to gett right though, as I guess the natural thing to do for calls would be to slide it up about 1cm to expose the earpiece.

The sticker roughly above the Esc-key is covering a hole meant for opening the lower part when the top part has been opened. This is NOT a hole for a screw, but for a screwdriver (from above).
-
Is it the corner above the Ctrl-key? If so there should be no screw there AFAIK. I have not had it disassembled myself, but I guess that corner got some 'hook', that might be broken? (The top part should only be held by the five screws behind the stickers easiest to access while slid open)
-
Glad you narrowed down the issue. The screws are available under plain stickers, so maybe 'just' a matte of peeling off the label and tighten a screw?

Same model now available on ebay from a few vendors e.g. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/274365634322

Indiegogo Keyboard mod backer - how do I order?
EskeRahn replied to mbecroft's topic in General Discussion
AFAIK this special offer has long expired (about a year ago), but I would suggest to contact support, and hear if they are still willing to offer some extra benefits despite the late date. Try [email protected] -
It (or something very similar) is mentioned earlier in the thread. The problem i had with it (as i recall) was the gripping and the buttons/fingerprint reader

Note that we can not see the uploaded images in full resolution in here, so might not be quite fair if we are comparing details, so might be a good idea to (also) have a link to the image in full (or just higher) resolution uploaded elsewhere.

If I remember right, one has reported a speaker cable that got disconnected. So could be that on yours too. 😢

I see. I feared it was worse with the extra layer. Cutting out the creditcard-part is likely to reduce the thickness and at the least reduce the closing issues. On the simple cases I'm using I 'broke' the edges slightly (cardboard beneath the fake leather) to ease the bend. Similar might be possible on yours.
-
How thick is the whole thing closed? The simple flip cases (with removed credit card holder) I'm currently using is 21mm thick (157mm long and 81 mm wide at the clasp, 79mm elsewhere)

Source Code Nature of Specialized Launcher
EskeRahn replied to virnir's topic in Pro1 - Thoughts & questions
Similar here. I do not recall having needed a reset at all on the retail unit since I got it in November. (I obviously have reset the earlier units more recent flashing Sailfish and different versions of LineageOS though) -
Thanks, moved your comment to the locked thread

Just got the above in the mail today, and it is a good fit in both portrait and landscape AND has the benefit mounted in a car to fit almost any phablet with a short edge between 64 and 88mm. To use while charging in portrait, I will suggest to make a small cut in one of the feet. (Note that in portrait the 'toes' does not catch the edge of the display-part of a Pro1, but it still can not fall out)

Rant: Why the F**** does F(x)tec not fix simple bugs?!
EskeRahn replied to daniel.schaaaf's topic in Support
I wish I had an answer. I'm a bit frustrated too, and would even be willing to PAY to get a few of the most annoying software bugs fixed. But it IS a small company with few people. And even if they wished to do so I doubt the various licensing would allow them to put things out open source without breaking various certifications and/or licensing. But would be awesome if they let people help them - starting with some of the things the Lineage guys already have tracked down and fixed.... -
Source Code Nature of Specialized Launcher

That definitely should have been on my list of options too, though that as @Rob. S. pointed out, limits widgets to square-grid usage -
Source Code Nature of Specialized Launcher
EskeRahn replied to virnir's topic in Pro1 - Thoughts & questions
Though I like the versatility of Nova, I find that it really stinks in assuming the same grid layout in 1:2 portrait and 2:1 landscape. Here the stock launcher solution of seeing it as two (roughly) equally sized blocks, seems like a much more clever solution. A few launchers offers more or less independent layouts. That obviously has a lot of benefits, but means you will need to set things up twice. But most launchers (including Nova) that at all handles landscape take the lazy route of just squeezing and stretching the grid - apart from looking horrible, it also makes widgets more or less us
