Still waiting for refund & and keeping f(x)tec own promises
EskeRahn replied to kabay's topic in General Discussion
Same here, I also took a perk for a Pro1X, to get an (even) more powerful Pro1 than I already got. So I have a strong suspicion that it is only going to be my daily driver, when support for 835 Pro1 dies out, from various developing sources. But that is the risk of crowd funding I took.. -
Still waiting for refund & and keeping f(x)tec own promises

Glad to hear that they can be so swift, when they are not swamped in a lot of pending mails. 🙂 The chronology of this date indicates that it was before they found out they had been swindled on the 835, with all the following commotion. -
Indeed. But as they just discovered the mail-setup bug @Hook described a few days ago, they might well have a pile waiting there. 😥
-
... could well be the issue here. They got a mail system, for handling cases from the same person in one go, that pulls any pending back to the newest mail. So when you send in a new mail, you basically pull your pending mail(s) to the back of the line. It is not uncommon to do so. ZenDesk uses the same principle. There are both pros and cons of this system, but if people are unaware, it clearly has negative side-effects.

In open position I can -sort of- recreate the ratteling by moving the top of the display. BUT if I put a finger to the bottom of the display (near the keyboard) there are none. So it is clearly the support arm that is loose, not the main plate on mine.

PRO1, LineageOS 17.1 Official Builds: Discussion
EskeRahn replied to EskeRahn's topic in General Discussion
It is quite random when I actually check. Today I checked early morning (around 0700, CET), often it is not available much before noon. And sometimes I forget to check until the evening or even the next day. To check I just finds and refreshes an open tab for https://download.lineageos.org/pro1 -
I would assume so, but we better have some of the developers answer that.

Though this is technical possible I also stuggle to see a real use case. Sure in rare occations you might want to show an image rather than sending it to a laptop first. And a cheap laptop would not be much more expensive than a monitor, keyboard and usb-dock. And would give a much better experience for close to any use case I can imagine. Their might be some special security use-case I have overlooked in this though, where you would be more secure connectin at a remote location vithout having to borrow a pc out of your control.

Following the "Camera Key" by pressing gives a quite confusing settings picture...
-
That is the flip side of AICP - there are so many settings, that we could easily have overlooked a dozen ones that need to be switched for it to work. 🤣
-
It exists. A rather old Samsung thing ("SCH-U0750" also labeled " Alias ™ ² "). I found one on ebay for a modest price (if I remember right the shipping was half the total) It works fine, and the idea could be adopted to say a Pro2 or 3... Sure the change of layout is a little slow, but acceptable, even for showing symbol-layouts.

(I use mine in a flip case, and it does not need to stick out the case)

The USB port is on a separate tiny pcb, (attached to the main board via a cable) ....And if they had added them to the spare parts sold through IGG, I too would have bought a bunch, as this on all phones is a weak point with much wear and tear. May I suggest what I have done> Use an magnetic plug. Sticks out a few mm, but spares the port a LOT of stress. (can be bought for trifles, you should decide if you want charge only, or data also - charge only are the cheapest and there are more offers) https://community.fxtec.com/topic/2368-magnetic-cables

I'm almost certain the hard keytops are not loose on the rubber(?) mat, so I doubt detataching and rearranging would be easy.
-
I feel exactly the same way on the second part. If I knew a way to trouble free move to AICP (or Lineage) as well as back (if I should regret), I too would have made the jump long ago. I do not have enough knowledge on what is going on behind the scene to know the explanation on the why. But no matter the why, the outcome is still annoying for us as users. Personally I have simply stopped expecting an update (and even stopped and disabled the OTA services with adb shell pm disable-user) . Should it arrive anyway, it will be a nice surprise. Luckily (for me) the most severe bugs I have ha

Just a wild guess based on windows. Some programs change their title depending on what is active. Could that be helpful in getting the password manager to distinguish what password goes to what?
-
We MIGHT be in a situation that it is the same swindlers that developed the pcb that also holds the source for the software to it, and if so we are unlikely to see things corrected on stock, at the least until some court ruling freeing it so someone else can fix stuff.
-
I'm almost certain that FinQWERTY does not copy in files, it offers them to the system as resources not as 'physical' files, as I understand it. But I could be wrong.
-
My guess would be that it would give a better result to polish of the black paint (and most likely that would remove the white and the yellow squares too), and then paint all white, and then with a mask for letters and symbols paint all the rest black. On the software side, you should definitely have a look at FinQWERTY, that is open source, and see how he maps things.
-
Could well be, I have not experimented with it, but it would make sense if it broke the checksum. Most likely it would be a more safe way to have it delivered through an App, the FinQWERTY way.
