Nope, the red line is for ilustration only. The QuickStep for the Pro1 has this clever function build in as default.

AFAIK the QuickStep apk from the Pro1 does NOT work on the Pro1X. If you got it working I would certainly be interested in how.

On the Pro1X i've seen the launcher freeze for maybe 2-3 seconds, but never with QuickStep on the Pro1. Note that "QuickStep" and the icon is used for more than one launcher!! The one that comes with the Pro1 is very simple BUT have the IMHO ingenious detail of grouping in two halves and rotating independently, making it VERY suitable for switching between landscape and portrait in modern more or less 2:1 phones. It is the ONLY launcher I've seen that does a good job at that at all!!! For others it either looks like sh... in one direction OR you have to manually handle what icons y

Could be. I would start with any app that requires the phone to be rooted, A normal dumb app should not be able to freeze the phone that long, AFAIK. But with sufficient privileged granted, it might. Also look for any "accessibility" apps as this is sort of a light rooting....

Another common issue is the pc being too NEW, as it typically is easier to get fastboot working with usb 2 than usb 3 on a windows pc- though it can work with usb3 also. Fastlboot is rather picky with windows, but seems to be less picky under linux

As I said anyone should be free to do it, If and when you would get it back is anyone's guess. On the other hand the fault @Burkhard reported is worse, as it is not just a 'misshaped' corner, that fairly easily can be hidden by software. Of course defects are not acceptable... The point is we are talking a company that struggles to even deliver phones to those that have ordered them as well as those that took a IGG perk for one. And for the Pro1X about devices that for some can not even be used as an ordinary phone due to some network stuff (that we still really do not know who affects and who does not) and in THAT context, display issues in the corners should be ranked as "a minor cosmetic blemish". But sure any one affected should feel free to return the phones for a warranty repair/replacement, and for a larger company

Allow me to suggest you to launch a new keyboard slider phone, if you know how it should be done, I would certainly be interested in buying... All electronic devices are the result of series of compromises and design decisions, there are no perfect devices. Would I have preferred a slightly lesser flat rectangular screen with protected edges? Sure, but not all would. Academically speaking yes it is... But just imagine that fxtec had pre-installed an app giving more rounded corners (maybe hard-coded). Then you would have never noticed that the display-defect existed - but sure it would still be there in principle. I think that is a crucial thing, that we as users can not easily set/change. IF it was easy to change it would make it too easy for thieves to give a phone a new identity.

I wa under the impression that the persist partiton contained unique information so copying it would sort of making the two devices clones. Interesting if that is NOT the case as we could thus have one available somewhere.

Ah yes, for the elephone ones you should get it without the frame, as it is different. If you can get it with a frame fitting the pro1/prpo1x, that is obviously easier to swap.
