Best Camera App and OS For Semi-Professional Photos
VaZso replied to RagingSkittlez's topic in General Discussion
I don't really know why you think Pro1's camera is not good as it has a good Sony IMX363 sensor which can produce great photos. However, not with stock camera and it is currently also not the best through Camera2 API. ...but it can make really good photos using GCam mods. I will post a few photos just for example, but I had to reduce their size a bit to fit in 2 MB limit. In the first photo, she is my almost 15 years old cat - unfortunately, flash was fired but the other photos were not taken with flash enabled. This photo was also cropped. -
Pro1-X just arrived today, what a beautiful device.

I think it was not bad in general, but - it was not perfect as per personal preference like @_DW_ wrote - it was not good for international layouts The latter was my main problem of not buying it, but the former was also a problem for me, but much smaller. So that leaded me to QWERTZ keyboard instead of QWERTY what I would originally chose unless there is no national keyboard for my language which is very unlikely. However, if there was only shifted QWERTY version, I would have been bought that one, but unshifted QWERT(Y/Z) version is much more convenient for me, even as the -
My friend was accepting a call, then put the phone down and the next time he wanted to use it, it was dead. It turned out to be caused by a faulty flash (UFS), such things may happen. It ran maybe only about 1-2 months... F(x)tec has replaced it and replacement unit is still working. My unit is more then a year old now.

When I have replaced my screen, I forgot to check it along with adding an additional diffuser of RGB LED light. However, all of my screws holding the display assembly were loose...
-
I never had such problem although I use my Pro1 as a daily driver. So I don't think it is a general problem of design, however, I assume some screws are loose in your case or maybe something is a bit different in the inner construction - I am basically thinking of something like a spacer is not at its original place. Maybe it is a good idea to check your screws against loosening.
-
So it should be a software issue somewhere, especially as you have two Pro1s with the same problem. I haven't noticed it anyway, I think one of your applications is the reason.

I am afraid Pre-Christmas batch still had shifted QWERTY layout, but that was an initial batch so later shipments should contain unshifted QWERTY layout. -
You are right, but 1) It is a test 2) Hardware orientation may not be the horizontal to vertical transition (so not 90°) but a rotation of 180° I also don't think a hardware configuration is used for this purpose but it is a real option. I told the vertical orientation to test if it comes to the part of the display facing up as this kind of rotation will definitively not at hardware level. As of rotate animation you mentioned... @kashif, does this green part also rotating?
-
If the green part moves from top to bottom of the physical display when you rotate it, it may be a software problem. However, I don't know what the software does on rotating, as the display controller itself may have an option of display orientation which means it may still be a problem of the display controller which belongs to the display (not part of the phone but part of the display). So the question is still open I think... Anyway, what happen if you rotate the phone vertically and force it to rotate the other way vertically? Does the green part appears at the left or right

Battery and replacement screen are currently available at their their Indiegogo page, however, I don't know for how long. I also hope these parts will be available to purchase soon directly from them, especially the USB panel... and maybe the keyboard.

Where I live in Hungary, they have started some kind of registration with some technical problems (lack of confirmation e-mails in some cases), but currently they are looking for other sources of vaccines with less-known background and it is unclear which vaccine they would like to use for a particular person later on. However, approved vaccines of the EU come really slowly, so it is also unknown for us - with lower risk - when would be available even now, when the registered user base here is relatively small (I think the relative number of vaccines available are similar in EU countries,

I am agree on they have a lot of experience since their launch. The lockdown in the UK definitively does not help, so I don't think they can really travel between the UK and China which they would if possible to have more control. However, their relationship will help even if they are not allowed to travel. Also, the higher amount of Pro1/Pro1-X, the better their position. More than 1400 unit do not seem a really low amount, so their partner(s) may take them seriously when speaking about production run... or at least I hope so. Also, they may have booked capacity some months earlie

I can confirm the full lockdown... one of my friends lives in the UK near London and he told me the very same situation.

The Astro Slide! (sliding keyboard phone competition from planetcom)
VaZso replied to damion's topic in General Discussion
Maybe that is the difference between an initial design and a real product... (They may were a bit behind than what they showed initially.) -
I think yes, but I haven't looked in it deeper. If I remember well, the access of some screws are only possible that way. Anyway, it is not complicated at all.
-
No, I am referring to the screws at the phone side which I have not touched in my phone.
-
At some point in time (before production), they wrote something about improving the durability of keyboard, if I remember well. They did not write details but maybe this is one of the differences, or the difference itself. 🙂
-
See in this thread. Anyway, interesting that you find the volume of your earpiece a bit low while we find it is too loud using stock OS (I had to turn the slider to minimum level to be usable and it also can easily produce distorted sound at maximum volume level). So if there is no misunderstanding, both problems could be solved in software I think. 🙂
-
Do you mean the earpiece or handsfree mode? Anyway, just curious which speaker produces sound in handsfree mode? Also curious do you also have the green-tint problem at dark brightness under Sailfish OS (like on stock). (So I am just curious if it has the same behaviour under Sailfish OS like under stock OS.)

I think it may happen the screws under the circular covers may get loose. When I have replaced my display, every screws were loose and one of them was almost totally unscrewed. I haven't checked other screws in my device as I did not want to remove more covers. So I think tightening its screws will help you...

I haven't followed general Windows on ARM development but does it work well on other devices? Also, do your Windows software you would like to use support API which were also developed for ARM? I don't know how well x64 emulation works on it.

I think @tdm has thought of a different problem. When a newer revision of a PCB comes out, the software needs to find out which hardware it runs on and it should handle its components accordingly. Things are simpler when there is a drop-in replacement if there is a way to find out which component is installed. Usually it works to read one/more registers or detect an address to determine which sensor or other component is installed. If a bigger modification is necessary, for example because of an unavailable / obsolete part (which may happen easily anyway), then things may become mo
