Spontaneous reboots - discssion on possible causes
VaZso replied to VaZso's topic in Pro1 - Thoughts & questions
I still had only two reboots on the same motorway and same direction where signal probably was very weak but the phone was in my pocket both times. After last reboot, I was on the same road once more without reboot... -
Correct request. I hope F(x)tec will catch up production relatively soon and you will receive your product in the near future or at least you can find someone who don't need it or willing to wait a bit longer for a more polished software or any other reason. For me, I am really happy with my QWERTZ Pro1 what I use and I would personally buy it again so I hope you will also enjoy your Pro1 soon.

Just a question not related to your problem. Can you boot to EDL using a method of pulling data line to GND (using a button for example)? What problem you have when you try to flash the phone? It goes through but fails to boot then?
-
When the phone is unlocked and press power button for a few seconds, a menu appears where there is a shutdown option. Isn't it good for you?
-
I think he speaks about long-pressing the power button which will do a hardware poweroff and not a software one.

Is it also exists in LineageOS? I know stock firmware has this issue but I don't know if LineageOS also has it - we usually hear about issues in stock firmware I think.

Discussion and testing on features and known&potential issues
VaZso replied to rejujacob's topic in Bug Reports
Basically a sound output a few centimeters away of the main microphone doesn't seem to be a really good decision. Maybe if it has a really good filtering algorithm then it may distinguish its own noise and voice signal but it may not be an easy task... So I would no wonder if handsfree mode has some problems this way. I have checked my colleague's phone which also has two speakers but the opposite one is working in handsfree mode anyway. -
I thought it is the desired behaviour because some of forum members are complained about noise filtering problems. If bottom speaker is the desired one for loudsfree mode, then I suggest to _also_ enable top one to have a much louder output while it is farther from the bottom microphone.
-
I have installed this OTA before it was suspended. Now I have tried a test Youtube video and left / right speakers are in appropriate positions However, in loudspeaker mode, it still uses bottom speaker near microphone which I think should be also changed to top one. So still there is a bug somewhere at audio routing I think. It also uses bottom speaker in handsfree mode of Linphone, so it may be also a setting somewhere which is not related directly to drive left and right speakers in normal audio playback. Maybe @Erik or @Waxberry knows who can solve it.
-
Now I also see it (still not updated). I haven't see it maybe 3 hours ago (checked manually). Do anybody know when this OTA became available? Does it shown to be available for update everybody at once or not at once? (I mean if I ask the system to check updates now, does it find on one Pro1 and still not on another one?)

Spontaneous reboots - discssion on possible causes

It may happen. I had only two reboots on the same road (Motorway) on the same direction of the road. I have IMAP idle enabled and it reconnects in 15 minutes to IMAP server on connection lost. So it may happen it wanted to communicate on mobile data when I have reached a low signal place and modem crash occurred... -
I don't remember any problems accessing it under Debian using jmtpfs except that it was extremely slow so I have used everything else other than that... tried FTP servers, Samba network and even my e-mail server by saving as draft... The best way would be for me to run an ssh server on it and able to access userdata including SDCARD but I still don't know if it is possible in a proper way like in my N900 was.

I am abslutely agree with you. He alone made a lot of progress for Pro1 to also have a perfect software. He is also active on this forum so we can see what happening and also can check his work - while we don't even have information about progress of stock firmware (if there is any progress at all currently). So, @tdm, thank you your work.

Spontaneous reboots - discssion on possible causes

That is why fuel gauge ICs came in view. Li-Ion kind of batteries can not be measured easily - near full charge, near medium charge and near low charge may have been predicted otherwise, but accurate percentage is not. ...but these ICs can do complicated calculations and predictions which may result in a really accurate percentage feedback. However, if battery worn, this can also result in a turn off at relatively large charge amounts but in normal circumstances, they work well. I think current mobile phones include this kind of circuit and I don't think that F(x)tec left it out. -
I have tried to format SD card to f2fs but stock firmware has always wanted to reformat it.

I think it is a good idea. Maybe another option would be to behave fn+arrow keys as home / end / page up / page down or not.

...or something has changed on carrier side - like a new transponder installed or something which was broken has been repaired or changed transceiver hardware (manufacturer / model) nearby. As of battery, it should have a battery "fuel gauge" IC on the mainboard which monitors "incoming" and "outgoing" charge and has an accurate output which the system can use to show accurate percentages... but this IC has a learning curve so it needs some time to accommodate to the specific battery installed. Without this IC, battery percentage can not be predicted easily or accurately. Monitoring t -
I was also not very happy with Brotect screen protector on my Pro1. I had no problem with gummy feeling but two of them started to come off by time at one of the corners when I put it into by pocket (or out of it). Now I have a screen protector applied which I bought at Aliexpress. However, I think a foil I bought at Protectionfilms24 is better. I cut one and applied it on the back. It is not as gummy as Brotect and maybe it has a bit stronger glue. My only problem with it is the lack of specific film for the screen of Pro1 - I am planning to cut one but I am afraid the cutout at e

I have planned to try it anyway (I saw it in Tasker thread) but still not played with it.
-
You are not alone, however, I currently use stock firmware. When I enter numbers (like a port number or IP address), I have to be extremely careful not to touch the edge of the screen which is inconvenient a bit but I am still happy with the keyboard itself. 🙂 Anyway, TWRP decryption would be a really good feature. 🙂

Spontaneous reboots - discssion on possible causes

For me, I have tried to check what bands my carriers support but it does not seem to be an easy task. It seems both of them currently support only B3, B7 and B20 for LTE. The provider which I don't use for data has B1 and B8 bands for 3G. The other service provider which I have 4G and mobile data, only supports B1 for 3G. Both of them have 2G as fallback (at 900/1800 MHz). Looking at coverage map, the carrier I use also for data has good coverage for 4G but fair coverage for 3G and practically full coverage at 2G. The other carrier has fair coverage for 4G but good coverage f -

Yes, in phone settings. I think it supports mobile data - if I remember well, it also displays their website. Anyway, I could enable data also for that SIM but as the other one has data plan, I don't need it. Also it means I have 4G enabled on SIM2 but SIM1 has only 3G as far as I know. -
After a solid month, I give up. I need to vent.

I think the superior one which works well in long-term use and doesn't activates randomly, The TyTN could scratch itself by use, N900 could open in pocket, etc. Nothing is perfect. On the other side, similar mechanisms of Nokia were very durable - there are units which are still working well anyway. -
Anyway, for me, I have mobile data enabled on SIM2 and disabled on SIM1 and both SIMs have call and SMS capabilities. I didn't have any system message(s) sent to the phone but I have location service turned on and basically VoLTE is disabled by service provider for my card.

Not only that - it should also lifted up so if you don't really have space in your pocket (more thickness) then it can not be opened...
