    Here is the video for screen replacement, It is for the Pro1, but that won't make a difference in this case. https://community.fxtec.com/topic/3222-new-at-least-to-me-pro1-pro1x-repair-videos/ However it shows you changing the whole display, including the frame, You do NOT want to buy the Elephone U Pro frame for the display (it's usually a choice or they don't include the frame at all), the Pro1x's frame is different. So the added removing the old screen (some glue to work loose) and lightly gluing the new display into the frame.

    We need to be clear here. IIRC, you have a Pro1x, not a Pro 1. The Elephone U Pro screen will still work, but neither Stock Android 11 nor Lineage OS will fix the margin problem. The only method that has been reported to work is first installing the display in a Pro1, doing the fix and then transferring to the Pro1x. Be aware, I have not done this. Since I don't believe you have a pro1, this is probably not a workable solution, sorry to say.

    They extended the campaign 3 more days. I noticed they upped the pledge amount to $375, but more interestingly upped the retail value to $500. Would not surprise if, if they do make it to retail, it might end up at the $599 price, Interestingly, they still have the secret perk at $325 for those who were sent the link because they were on the waitlist.

    As pointed out, there is a work around. Neither @EskeRahn nor I have insight into this (we don't have any more communication with FxTec than anyone else here). It might have been a response to some rather aggressive spamming that was occurring, though I don't know, don't know how exactly it would improve that, nor do I even know if it was FxTec's doing. This is (and I only know this from researching the forum software site) a turnkey solution forum. The forum is hosted on the forum software maker's servers and they do all the back-end security while FxTec is responsible for the user-facing

    And apparently, no one knows about the secret perk ($325) as that number hasn't changed much in two weeks-- either that or there was only 30 people on the wait list.

    It appears there isn't a new nightly this week. That seems also true for the Pro1. They do this occasionally and the list for what is being incorporated for the new update seems pretty long. I expect we'll see a new update this coming Monday.

    With 5 days left, it looks like they might be able make it across the line-- they only need about 54K more... I wonder if they can buy their own pledges. :D They keep promising more and more... which continues to worry me when evidence points to them not even having a working prototype. Also, it's sounding less and less like a "minimal" phone and more like an Android phone with an eInk screen. So, basically, the only thing minimal about it is it won't be very satisfying for videos and very graphical games.

    I still think they are still gaining too slowly. Part of the problem, I think, is that they have most of the folks both interested in a phone like this and willing to gamble on crowdfunding. I'm skeptical that they have a real working prototype-- more of a design concept, based on their continued lack of showing someone really using it. The new slick video of computer renders set to pop music doesn't instill confidence.     Minimal has been clouding the waters on this. They initially echoed the IGG policy in a response to a discussion question, saying that if they did not hit the $500K Fixed Goal, all the backers would be refunded. I posted above when, later, also in their reply to a discussion comments they reversed themselves and said even if they didn't reach the goal, the phone would be made. Which would have to mean they don't plan on refunding backers (or at least I don't see how they could do both). So, yes, quite confusing. Luckily, I'm not a backer.

    I assume you are talking about the list of Preferred Network Type for your carrier under settings, Network and Internet? NR certainly doesn't work since that is 5G. So likely, you are just getting Wcdma. If you are not getting LTE, any string that doesn't include LTE or puts it near the end of the list will probably work. My Pro1x does fine with LTE on Ting Mobile (T-Mobile MVNO) where I live in the US, but I know there are others who don't get proper LTE service on their Pro1xs.

    I notice Minimal has now reversed themselves. They say the phone will be done even if they don't reach their goal. Which would worry me if I were a backer because it sounds like a way not to have to do refunds. They also say they are planning on doing a lot of marketing in the next couple of weeks. That should have all been done just before the campaign. They are also doing the Planet Computers thing. "Only 4 left" they keep telling me in emails, but, of course, they add a few every time they get down to 1. And being barely over 50%, you know there are going to be many many more, but

    Probably either method preserves root after OTA. However, if root is really all you want, the flash-as-zip method is easy and gets the job done without you having to manually do the whole repack the bootloader dance.

    AT&T are pretty much out of the question. They are now the most aggressive white-listers and they will boot you. As I said before, people have gotten Verizon working, but, yes it has to be a SIM muled in a Verizon phone approved for ViLTE on their network, and then moved to the Pro1x. T-Mobile and their MVNOs are the only ones in the US that just work, Moving to Lineage still gets you the play store, using MineTheGapps 14 (see the begining of this thread).     Verizon is hit or miss. Some people have it working fine, Others have trouble. The OS won't make a difference, I have seen peple reporting that they get a notification from Verizon that the phone is unsupported, but so far not much evidence that there is any enforcement yet, When i had my Verizon SIM in my Pro 1, ages ago, it worked for a few months and then SMS broke.     Switch the Physical Keyboard language in Settings/System/Keyboard/Physical Keyboard/Builtin Keyboard from "English (US)" to "F(x)Tec QWERTY" That will match the prints rather than more standard key assignments. Since I don't do anything Linuxy on the phone, I prefer the English (US ) exactly because I expect the question mark to be shift-forward slash and ; to be on the same key as : ;)

    It is certainly not my favorite design choice— I really prefer landscape keyboards. But it is an interesting concept and I would buy one just to support their efforts if is comes to exist. They say they will refund everyone if they don't reach their $500K goal, and I hope that is true, because I am skeptical they will hit it. I just don't need to be doing that.

    EDIT: Decided to finally clip this tangent off the Unihertz Slim thread, since I was kind of responsible for the tangent. :D Took me a couple of tries to figure out how "split" works, but I did it. :D I think THIS could turn out to be interesting (keyboard, Android 13, not good for graphic intensive games and video but can otherwise run Android apps and rootable/flashable).
