  1. You're right, it seems like there's no notification light at all except for charging... 6.3.6 from Play Store, currently.
  2. Does the notification light work on your Pro1X with all apps? I'm struggling with some, most notably Signal, that doesn't turn on the LED for incoming messages no matter what I do.
  3. Unfortunately, it worked just for a week or two and since then the app rejects fingerprints again with just the same false error message, so I had to disable them in that app. Which is a bummer, but then again, even where an app doesn't cause additional problems, I have never had such an unreliable fingerprint scanner on any device. The Pro1 was an order of magnitude more reliable in recognizing finger presses. The ratio of success at first attempt on the Pro1X is near zero for me. Sometimes things become better by making the phone relearn the specific fingerprint – for some time. After t
  4. The regulation is expected (heise.de, translated by Google) to come into effect towards the end of 2024. Good for customers, and something that can and should be expected especially from the big corporations, but it will obviously make things even more difficult for small companies...
  5. There's no consistent relation between purchasing/backing date and delivery date; Fxtec told me there would have been some problems on the Chinese side with regard to the shipping order. I already have my October 2020 Indiegogo early bird order, but I still haven't received my September 2019 (!) Pro1 order (later changed to Pro1X)...
  6. My above speed test was via Vodafone LTE in a sub-optimal but (with the Pro1) ok location. Pro1X WiFi connection for me is similar to the Pro1, too. Only in edge cases where the Pro1 just kept up the connection the Pro1X now just doesn't – which unfortunately describes my bedroom 😆 If the WiFi connection is lost, though, I usually get a somewhat usable mobile connection, so it isn't a catastrophe. Possibly have to relocate the closest WiFi 'satellite' box a bit (although I remember finding a place for the Pro1 to connect was already a bit of an adventure...)
  7. Unfortunately, today's experiment has confirmed the suspicion. Where the Pro1X frequently loses connection and, if the connection's there, shows varying transfer rates from abominable to acceptable, the Pro1 took me through the whole day at acceptable transfer rates without a single failure. While sometimes both connections were similarly fast, here's one comparison I did immediately one after another which shows the perceived difference (1: Pro1, 2: Pro1X). Also note the the download and upload latencies (right to the ping). [Edit:] This is Vodafone LTE in a less than optimal
  8. @Hook Yeah, I understand your motivation well. Personally, I was always happy with the Pro1, both with the phone and with the connectivity, including listening to web radio in my car on some of the roads around here, even though the network coverage in Germany is generally bad, specifically in rural areas; no matter in which direction we leave the country the coverage immediately gets much better as soon as we cross the border. I've left my old Moto Z3 Play in the drawer as a spare phone for emergencies... I've now fitted the new SIM card into my "old" Pro1. In a first comparison, suddenl
  9. Just for the record, what I thought to be a general deterioration of 4G connectivity in my closer vicinity after the radio masts around here all have been modified to support 5G recently, actually seems to be on the receiving side, i.e. the phone. For testing purposes I've now revived a 6+ year old Chinese 4G USB dongle that works slow (5 Mbps), but reliably, where the Pro1 X gets no throughput at all. This is indeed disappointing. As a workaround, I've now got myself a second SIM card for my account and ordered a portable 4G router...
  10. On unrooted devices I do not know of a solution on the phone. I believe that external electronic circuits exists, but I have not tried them. With the unrooted Pro1 X, I went back to use the "Chargie" device, which isn't as perfect as my somewhat euphoric first impression sounded, but it does the job it's supposed to do.
  11. Thanks @all for the interesting and insightful input! I'll try and see how the Pro1 behaves in comparison. Any recommendations for an app that would record charging power/current over time? I wonder whether it might be possible to somehow make the Pro1 X refrain from that short interruption just a few minutes before fully charged...
  12. It's nearing three months that I'm using the Pro1X as my daily driver, and I'm still (mostly) happy with it! Now I wanted to have a look at what AccuBattery says about battery health. It says 92% capacity, 3,031 of 3,300 mAh (sounds less than optimal but then again my second-hand Pro1 has kept its capacity around 2,950 mAh for the whole 1.5 years I've been using it) it also says "we have no full charges detected yet". Right, I do mostly use the Chargie device which stops charging at 80%, still I know I've fully charged it more than once. But to make sure, I did let it go below 15% (as Ac
  13. Just for the record, the issue has stopped appearing here soon after my report, without me changing anything...
  14. That's hardly enough fact, it's just opinion, which is already perfectly clear from the wording ("thoughts", "believe", "doubt", "for me"). Something everyone is entitled to, but we shouldn't mistake one for the other. My facts are the phones which have been delivered and the support that is still happening, plus the good old rule 'innocent until proven guilty'. There's nothing in what we know that would be enough to prove them guilty of any serious crime. As always, never attribute to malice what can just as well be explained without it, especially for a tiny little British company betw
  15. Yeah, that's because it's required by EU law—not so much in post-Brexit UK, though, it would seem, when ordering from UK...
  16. I have one small GaN charger that came with my Laptop (Star Labs, another UK company), it powers the laptop and quick-charges the phone simultaneously with ~12W for the phone (except for the those reboots which have become necessary with some LineageOS versions on the Pro1, while at least my copy of the Pro1 X is not yet misbehaving in that regard). I don't frequently use it, though, as I prefer slow charging for prolonging battery health... I also have a less recent non-GaN charger (UGREEN) which, even though I think it should be powerful enough, always only powers one of the two devices
  17. That's right! No reason! And the earth is flat... So which facts do you have that would substantiate doubts that Fxtec does everything they can to deliver those phones in the end, as extreme as the delays already have become for some of us?
  18. Makes me think it could be a good thing for Pro1 users to get a spare Pro1 screen (top unit) as long as they're available...
  19. They will tell us another story like in the last two years. It's only over when it's over. As long as they haven't folded, I'll keep waiting for my Sept 2019 order, and if it will be 2023. Until now, judging from all former experience, there is no reason to believe they wouldn't eventually deliver, as disappointing as such a delay is and as much as I understand everyone who'll say ok, then I'll pass.
  20. Hmm... My total was 406.33 € (from HK$3099 incl. shipping, payed by credit card) + 8.09 € (VISA foreign currency surcharge) + 79.61 € (customs/import duties) = 494,03 €.
  21. That was quick. Got my Expansys order yesterday (Pro1 X blue 8/256 GB QWERTY), switched it on and off again without going through the install. Looks good! Can't say when I will have time to do something with it, though.
  22. Hmm... Looking at the satellite views, the Pro1 X seems to draw their positions completely different than the other two phones. Could there be a bug in the underlying code, not getting the positions right?
  23. A quick comparison on my window sill that confirms some of the observations here (Left to right—Moto Z3 Play, Pro1, Pro1 X) : Images show the three phones three minutes after AGPS clear and update. The Motorola is the quickest to get the first fix (7 s), the Pro1 by far the slowest (~3 min), the Pro1 X in between (~1 min 20 s). The Pro1 X "sees" the highest number of satellites satellites but "uses" the lowest number. The Pro1 X is much less constant in its readings than the other two, they chance permanently. That includes losing a fix every when there
