This company needs to learn to communicate. They have twitter channels and newsletters, yet they barely communicate anything useful at all. I get that delays happen, that is a normal thing, but one has to communicate that in advance and the reasons why.

 

We are now nearly at the end of the 2nd week of september without any official information about what is going on.

I now received the answer of Fxtec…

 

We’re almost 100% sure the device will begin shipping by early-October, possibly much earlier. We have completed the hardware set, we’re just finalising the software to ship with the device and that is 9/10 complete.

 

That means it has a delay….

I’m just curious. What exactly did you ask them that this was the reply to. I just want to make sure you were asking about the first pre-order batch and not orders. (I’m grasping at straws :-D).

 

I asked if the delivery date, which was announced on Twitter, can be met. because the second september week has already started and there was no information ... so I asked for and got this answer. and yes I'm a preorderer :)

To be honest I was expecting as well more informations from f(x)tec. I still expect the devices to be shipped from mid september but as this information is "old" and we are getting closer to mid september very fast, I was expecting at least regular information, a countdown on social media, more frequent posts and not just a post once per week where almost all the comments are about the shipping date and not about the event they posted it about.

 

I know that the company is not that big, but I would have expected that someone from them would at least check once per day the official forum or the other official social media to respond to questions or even teaser us. They have a newsletter I know. But come on. Maybe they didn't want to spam everyone per Mail, but here a couple of days before the release there should be a lot of discussions going on. Maybe every user posting the different articles they found about this device on their favourite IT-page and so on. But in reality, I am checking several times per day the official forum and so on for every tiny bit of information I can get. And don't get me starting about the forum problematics. The thread about how good the support-hotline is was very ironic. That could be true, however the fact that several people hat to copy the content of their hotline-request to this forum is the perfect example for a bad information policy towards the users.

 

Don't get me wrong, I am still looking forward to receive the device but in my opinion the public relations is quite bad.

 

As they are apparently not really responding here, there are some concrete questions about the device on Facebook. I am very curious to see how and if they are responding to them. However I doubt that.

 

All in all I would also like to thank the mods here, because I know that they are doing the best they can, but it shouldn't be their job to do that at all.

Ordered in pre-order back in February… not complaining at all… happy to wait. The idea of a pre-order is exactly that, what is the difference between a few weeks to even a month? Seriously chill.

 

I ordered in April, so what? I would "chill" if I didn't pay for it. In this case, I paid for the product AND for the "shipping estimated in mid-september". In every normal shop if the delivery delays, You get the information about it. Delaying it without informing us is just a clear dishonesty. We, as their customers who already paid, should be getting such informations first, not from someone (thank You, Sandro) who asked and got the answer in a private correspondence like it was some kind of mystery. That's why I'm still hoping that this is just a fake news spreaded by some FxTec worker who didn't know the real state of shippings (happened here already - by the way the staff could pay more attention to the information they give to their customers) or concerns only new orders, not the already paid pre-orders.

 

Don't forget that we are talking here about a piece of tech with already not-the-newest specs, every month of delay just decreases it's real money value - this certainly does not work on its advantage. Yes, I know, keyboard is the main feature here - but thinking this way, we could also say that nobody needs Pro1 because we have Photon Q or Droid 4 which also has a keyboard and old specs, what we all know is not true.

Sorry, but I have to stay objective, after all I paid a lot of money (at least concidering economical conditions in my country) for it. Just trying to keep away from being a "fanboy".

Fx Tec emailed me and confirmed that shipping date is extended to october for pre ordered customers.

It is so disappointed! i think it will go on like this for long.

And i seriously dont see this device coming within this year.

so much waste of time and money.

I am eagerly awaiting any updates (just like everyone else here) but I can definitely say I'm not worried. Life happens. I would much rather have a couple week delay (or more honestly) if it means they aren't shipping out something with terrible flaws that they knew they could fix with just a little more time (obviously there will be some flaws still, and you can't chase perfection because then delays would be forever, but you get my point).

 

Also, I was wondering if once the product for pre-orders gets shipped, will the status of the order switch from "Processing" to "Shipped"? I would imagine it will, but I'm curious if any knows anything different.

All in all I would also like to thank the mods here, because I know that they are doing the best they can, but it shouldn’t be their job to do that at all.

If you're unhappy with how things are going. Cancel the order and get your money back. That's what creditcard and PayPal insurance are there for.

 

But next time don't whine about delays. Nobody else is doing this. Unless you wanna compare Gemini. So go there...

 

This is what development means. You should not have paid for nor ordered this phone if you were unable to contemplate on the possibility of further delay.

 

This phone cannot charge within 30 minutes. It cannot be charged wireless. It does not offer the absolute latest and fastest wireless options.

Apart from these things, what does it not offer!?

 

Don't get me wrong. You are in your right to be disappointed, angry even.

But logging on just to complain, communicate you want your money back, piss on FxTec... With the intend of achieving what exactly?

That was an interesting idea. But my GUESS is that is it not finding the bugs that would be delaying, but fixing them.

But it is certainly an interesting idea to extend the beta test to a larger group, thus using the 'waste time' constructive.

I will try to escalate that (too)...

(But could be that the additional administrative work with NDAs etc is not worth it for them)

Yeah I wasn't thinking testers would speed up their work, just that the beta test applicants are willing to take it with incomplete software, and can update to retail when its complete.

Well I think it depends why someone is asking about the delay. IF THERE is one.

 

For me there is no problem that there could be a delay. For me the problem ist, that there are no official answers in the official forum, neither on the social media channels. The hype so short before shipping is somehow minimized by the fact that I don't want to create forum threads discussing things, if I know that responds are not shown or shown too late.

 

So I wrote a mail to the support asking for some official information about the release date. If they are still sending the shipment mid - september.

I wouldn't be disappointed if Fxtec team openly talked about delays giving us a clear reason for it. Now we are getting informed by people who received answers only because they wrote directly to Fxtec. Seriously, what the hell is happening? Will it be only given to a small number of people/testers? Will it be delayed again and again? We are almost in mid-September now, they should be starting sending soon and many people expect the device to come any day, if there was any chance for delay Fxtec team would know it at least since beginning of the month, they could inform us. If there was any bad thing that happened unexpectedly forcing that delay, why weren't we informed? Did that "second batch" ever happen? Is it going to be another Nokia N950?

I can understand if people are upset. Nevertheless, I'd rather have a slightly delayed phone than a phone that upsets me with bad bugs out of the box. I assume the whole team is rather very busy these days with events/tradeshows (hearing good things from IFA btw), bugfixes, the final production stages and the myriad of issues that tend to pop up at such times. I'd like to give them a big hand for their efforts so far – and fingers crossed for good news soon.

Gosh, They aren't yet late, the hardware is finished, the software is getting MAYBE delayed because WE ask for stuff on the forum and THEY LISTEN TO US ! For F* Sake ... This is a pre-order, i never ever saw something go perfectly well on kickstarter, but for some reason this is now the end of the world ?

FYI:

Samsung delay the S8 and there S10 5G when they are SAMSUNG !

LG delayed the G7 and the LG V50 ThinQ when they are LG !

Apple delayed the Iphone 8 and iphone 9 when they are APPLE !

You get the point ?

All of theme had preorder ! But you are taking a crap on the small and new company who does it's best do the the RIGHT THING ?

 

The device is there, many people had a hand-on during meetup, all of them praised the quality of the device !

I'm surely speaking only for myself, but if this is how you will react, you a not welcome here.
