As I wrote: "The first has arrived for the Note7", so as the first i have not tried others (yet), see also previous posts in this thread. I have ordered 16 different cases, and will report as they come in.8 points

I bet if you told people it had a Snapdragon 855 and just handed them the device, most would just believe it until they run some benchmarks. And even then, these benchmarks tend to be very synthetic. +30% per generation? Who are they trying to fool? We're not in the 90s anymore. Not to say there aren't any benefits, but they're not as large as they're made out to be. And better tech existing doesn't make the old one slower, that's just in your head.7 points

A lot of people don't realise the CPU is pretty irrelevant these days (like mentioned above) as it's got to the point where each new CPU doesn't double/triple the performance.6 points

Just as a quick BTW regarding specs: I currently own a Oneplus 3T - Snapdragon 821. I'm running it on LineageOS since day one - it's (as of today) BLAZINGLY fast! There is no input lag whatsoever, everything is just super-smooth (and I have the 'performance' setting one tick towards 'save envergy' from the center position). As long as you are not using performance demanding games (that's what PCs are for), this thing could still last for years without problems! (Stuff like GTA does run super-smooth as well - but that is all I ever tried in terms of 'mobile gaming'). Pro1's6 points

I appreciate the efforts here in trying to update people, but the previous update was " Product on the way from warehouse to regional fulfillment centre ", so it went from going from the warehouse to going to the warehouse. Not to mention that they were going to the warehouse since the 29th. Clearly the word "warehouse" is being used for a lot of different things, which is technically correct, but it makes any effort in trying to figure out what's exactly being said pretty hard. Best I can guess is that they're in the continent, but not shipped to customers yet.5 points

They were simply not able to get the latest chip since they are a startup and vendors don't really care for low amount requests. Also, it's absolutely true that not everybody would buy a device for 800-900€ for 20% more cpu speed (if even). For me, personally, it's the most expensive phone I ever bought. I bought PCs for over 3000€, but my phones are only used for calling, texting and browsing. Often business use. If it would have cost 900€, I would probably have waited until I got a used phone for less.5 points

I ordered a number of different cases for various other phones with similar size as the keyboard part. The first has arrived for the Note7, and though it snaps right on, without deteriorating the slide functionality substantially, there are a few issues. It is easy to cut holes for the camera, stereo jack and USB with a pair of scissors, but a little more complex for the fingerprint scanner. The problem here is that the Note 7 has a flat back, but the Pro1 has the last 1cm or so of the sides curving to give it the nice pebble like feel. So the case fits nicely when held in place5 points

I have an 835 right now in my Pixel 2 XL and have not had any issues regarding the speed or in mobile games5 points

Well you are assuming that no one think the Pro1 is already expensive, oh wait there are.... So your assumption does not hold, invalidating the logic... For some an additional price would be outweighed by a newer chipset, for others it would put the device out of their reach. If the total numbers sold would be higher by one variant or the other is really hard to say anything reasonably on, it will be just guessing either way.4 points

Lol. It's the same information tweeted on Nov 6th except he has added the word "confirmed." It's still progress. In what they are managing right now, with so much in the control of third parties, confirmation is key (along with function 😉 ). I predicted we wouldn't see tracking numbers before next Monday. Fingers crossed the "early" part is right.4 points

For those not watching Twitter, Liangchen Chen just tweeted: "Confirmed first shipment is on the way to US / UK warehouse and takes 1-2 working days to handle forward shipping and custom. (They don't work over weekend) aiming to get tracking code sent out early next week. Getting there "4 points

That would be 48,888,888.89 mAh. So the preproduction unit seems to be better than the officially announced numbers!4 points

I don't see how the Nov 6th tweet and the Nov 8th tweet cannot be seen to be going backwards in progress either. This is what we have, where "***" represents the current location of the first batch. Nov 6 (very close to getting a tracking number): Factory-->China export customs-->InTERcontinental Shipper-->Destination Country(ies)-->Import customs-->Warehouse--***-->InTRAcontinental Shipper-->Customer Nov 8 Best Case (still has to go through import customs): Factory-->China export customs-->InTERcontinental Shipper-->Destination Cou3 points

I think you're right. When I saw that tweet I thought "isn't that what happened on the 29th?" This confusing mix of terms is not helpful. All of this lengthy discussion here is because people are trying to find the answer to one single simple question: "when will I have my phone in my hands". And it is simple, even if the answer is "we don't know". But that hasn't been easy to work out based on the official comms. And it feels like everything is an effort to avoid committing to a date.3 points

Let us hope that it will be such a huge success, that it makes room for variants, and not one model only.... Different people, different usage patterns, different needs/wishes.3 points

I personally think custom signatures are noise and not useful. I prefer having them disabled.3 points

I think flash speed can be more impact on the overall speed if it is relatively slow. (Anyway, they said it is connected on UFS interface so it is not eMMC which sounds good anyway, so I hope it is relatively fast.) Also software optimizations may have high impact on overall performance.3 points

The software plays a big role here too. In the past I've had a HTC Wizard, which was then replaced by Toshiba G900. Although the Toshiba had better specs, using it was a total disaster comparing to the old HTC - constant battery management issues (sudden drops from 100 to 75%, shutting down at 30%, refreshing battery state every 5% systemwise) and low priority for keyboard-managing process were a nightmare. The software was constantly losing every 4-5 characters typed on the physical keyboard (software keyboard worked fine!), even with all the tweaks people could find console this. This taught3 points

[...] Liangchen &/or Adrian &/or others take the specification, design, etc. for the Pro1 to ‘X’ number of factories, eventually settling on one that gives a sensible balance between quality, performance and price; The chosen Shenzen factory takes the many parts and assembles them according F(x)tec plans and specifications; The finished product is transported to the (non-F(x)tec) warehouse in Hong Kong; HK warehouse staff, with existing expertise, acting on F(x)tec instructions, allocate the shipment to the various international export shipping agents; The shipping agents, ind3 points

In case you missed it, this was my take on F(x)s processing hope it helps a bit?2 points

But he already did that, by saying something slightly different. This is the opposite of clearing things up.2 points

You can get rid of it with e.g .Ctrl+Z or by Ctrl+A and Del. But yeah a bit odd. ADD: You can also click the right part of the quote line, and then Del ADD II: Actually multiple BackSpaces also works2 points

Yeah some people go over the top with them more than a line then it's not a signature2 points

You mean that it is ~240g not =240g ? Well I did, but ignored it 😃 P.S. I kept mAh because it is then easier to compare to the given 3200 mAh in the specs 😉2 points

I hope they will have enough success to make a successor every 2-3 years. Those that would like the device to be active for 4-5 years, would simple skip the next - as easy as that.2 points

LOS is already under developement. The initial plan was a release as soon as the Pro1 is available. I'll try stock unrooted with TWRP first, which is enough to change system files (adblock hosts, restore Appdata..). And on Topic: Keep it up, F(x)Tec!1 point

I would imagine that the post is just the answer to unclear factors since we don't really have official information anywhere. In order to prevent more speculation, I'd imagine that he confirmed the shipping officially, which does not mean that they haven't completed more steps in the meantime. Words were misinterpreted very often with horrible effects here in the forum.1 point

So you are (now) saying that OTHER people would buy, not that MORE would buy, or?1 point

...Once we found the phone case(s) that gives the best fit, we should be looking for flip cases for these phones that opens in the OTHER direction, that is at right edge, like e.g. a Japanese book, as these would be more likely to be usable (as mentioned earlier), and preferably with a flip of a soft material with a hard support inside, we can 'brake' to add new fold(s). ADD: Due to the base form being symmetric, and we are likely to make various cot outs anyway, We MIGHT simply use one rotated to what it was originally intended1 point

Maybe second batch can be faster if that is true that customs can be much slower on the first run of a new device. However, expecting 10 days and experiencing 5 for example is much better than expecting 5 days and experiencing 10. 🙂1 point

You should only change if you have a real reason to. A lot of people is distrust of google spying on them others its a specific feature or the OS just does something better.1 point

Hey all not sure if it was mentioned before, but a neat feature for the forums would be to have a custom signature. Loads of other forums have this. I think it would be great way to represent peoples timeline of physical qwerty devices or whatever else.1 point

And maybe there were adjustments to the assembly process for the first batch and that made it take longer. I'm just happy that I'll get one of the batch 2 phones that doesn't have all the mistakes of the batch 1 phones, where they were learning how to put them together for the first time. 😂1 point

I have given a good bit of time over the last few days to ponder this thread ... How about taking a broader way of thinking about F(x)tec and the ‘factory’ - the ‘warehouse’ - the ‘fulfilment centres’? The very first thing to keep in mind: F(x)tec is a small start-up. I know we've all paid what for a lot of us is a big $€£amount; but as Liangchen said in the second video, the Pro1 is not like most other phones around just now, and takes quite a bit more assembly. Given this significant design difference, for what F(x)tec are offering I consider that what we’ve paid is not so OTT. Extend this1 point

The 845 is only 14% faster than the 835. I wouldn't sweat that small of a difference.1 point

That "source" in your post looks everything but trustworthy. Discord is most certainly no spyware, unless you consider any website/service that requires accounts and offers some sort of communication - e.g. email, social media - spyware.1 point

Most of these Discord privacy concerns are a little bit over the top. They are obviously required to deliver the current feature set of the application. There are still some things that got me stumped though. Like recently with the addition of streaming, it always scans and displays the current game in the application, even with overlay and game status disabled. There's no way to disable the streaming detection. What's also important to me is that they have this Nitro subscription. Now, I don't use it since I hate subscriptions, but at least they got some stream of money coming, so they shou1 point
