  1. Contact support and we'll pay for it. To our understanding, we pre-paid that as you are in the EU, but maybe someone in the warehouse in Hong Kong made a mistake with your order and didn't pre-pay it.

  2. All similar requests are processed but they need to be approved and submitted by our C level colleagues :), which is why it may take longer than a typical support email. Typically an accounting team would look after those, but at our scale, it's taken care of by the directors.

  3. It's not critical to me. Mostly just nice to have. I do have some Titanium backups on my SD card now if I do anything requiring a wipe. I'm mostly waiting for LOS and TWRP to be ready for prime time.

  8. Have a look at US-Int. There you can enter accented characters by pressing the yellow arrow and a button (it is the same on US-Int on PC). So ä is yellow-Arrow + q, Ä is yellow-arrow + Q. ü is yellow-arrow + y and ö is + p. It takes some time to get used to it but it is faster than holding down a key until something happens 😄

  9. If you are willing to tinker a bit running an android 10 GSI works rather well except for some keyboard related bugs (it considers keyboard always open, backlight does not turn on, no fxtec magic to force landscape mode). [edit] I should read proper, didn't realize you mentioned coming from OLDER versions of android. Yeah, you will dislike Pie, and 10, as I also do xD.

  10. Yes, basically I am agree with you. However, I have bought a Pro1 from a reseller despite of I am still waiting for my pre-order and having IGG coupon here. I was thinking for a while that I will buy another one mostly because I will not do experiments on my daily driver and I would like to try Sailfish OS and maybe do experiments with rooting or recovery solutions later. However, I wanted to wait for general availability and see maybe if an unshifted QWERTY version will be available... but as I heard no news about my pre-order and I wanted to move to this phone while I have some time

  11. If someone will make an 'app' that can allow an ordinary user to 'upload' the layout-files on a non-rootet device, then I will gladly make a PC program for entering the layouts. (As I understand @Anssi Hannula this is not as trivial as it may sound) I already started the PC part back in February... I also have an idea of sharing layouts not only fully but PARTLY in sheets. E.g. If one with a Hungarian layout had made a smart Math-character set on Shift+Ctrl+Fn-combos, then to extract that so someone else could import it in say Swedish, And perhaps place it on Alt+Fn if that suited t

  12. I would stay away from QuickPic. I used to swear by it, but it is now owned by Cheetah Mobile a notorious spyware publisher. I replaced it with Gallery Pro by Simple Mobile for which your description is appropriate. If you are using an old pre-Cheater Mobile apk, then you are ok, but folks should be careful.

  13. Hi there, I got a phone directly sent to me from Hongkong, but then today the package delivery guy told me I'd have to pay ~50€ for the customs fee. Shouldn't that have been covered by the paid amount already? I heard fxtec would refund those customs fees but couldn't find anything through the forum search. @Erik Do you maybe know more? Best regards and thanks in advance

  15. Perhaps cheating was not the correct word to describe my feelings on the matter. Clearly you did not read my clarification....I'm not in the least bit upset that I don't have mine already. I understand exactly why they aren't here yet, and as such I'm willing to cut them far more slack than it appears they'll need. "All you did" was far more than "use an opportunity." You took money away from F(x)tec by buying through a reseller, who will keep a cut of the profit. You took away an opportunity for a member of the general public to discover the Clack, thereby taking away an opportunity to b

  17. You may check with somebody who also uses Verizon with working SMS centre to see if you have the same number there (just a guess). ...or maybe try if their support will tell it.

  18. Maybe try to set up the correct SMSC number for your SIM card. You can do it if you dial *#*#4636#*#* - query what is the current setting and check if it is correct.

  20. I see this too, I can easily reproduce it: Place it vertically at an edge on a desk, Tilt it SLOWLY to flat. Wait a bit. Lift slowly back to vertical resting on an edge. To fix: Just start a program like e.g. AndroSensor that IGNORES the phone's auto-rotate setting, and rotate the device.

  22. Yeah the card slot gives an extra layer, but also makes it harder to close nicely, as the Pro1 obviously being thicker I doubt you will get a good fit of the protector, but could be a good quick-fix. It should be fairly easy to find matching protectors. just search for "Elephone U Pro", that is using the exact same BOE display.

  23. I have looked at that type as well, but I fear it will be so thick/wide you can not place it flat on a table.... I know this is an issue with the round connectors... ADD: Unless you use it in a case, that lifts it a few millimetres.

  24. Oh ok, thanks! I had just set it to that but didn't think there were shortcuts like those. Pretty counterintuitive to map them to arbitrary keys like q and y and p though. 😆 But it works, nice! Arrow button + s = ß

  25. You do realize people's situations can change over time? When I pre-ordered in early 2019, my financial situation was different from when they asked us to pay in August. And I would've cancelled my order if my friend hadn't offered to lend me the money. And even now my situation is different from back in August. That said: I'd rather cut back on other things than not have a slider keyboard phone. I've been waiting for this for a decade. I imported and used outdated US phones in the past because touchscreen keyboards are a nightmare (for any kind of purpose). I used the Galaxy S4 with a BT

  26. Interesting that you still see the inactive touch screen bug. That was fixed on mine with an OTA update. Are yours up to date? QX100_EEA_20191210...... There is also a new as of today, I have not yet installed (it is doing it now)

  27. I don't know how big it is, but it may not be connected easily as Type-C connector of Pro1 is not centered... (Which is convenient anyway when it is being charged and you would like to type on its keyboard - if it were centered then charger cable would be in wrong place.)

  28. Absolutely right, I would like them to continue their work and also have successor(s) later. Also, it seems they take the project absolutely seriously, so I really hope it will worth the effort and also have later devices and they will have much better background (like funding from profit and not their own savings) that time. No, I have received it on 30th of December, but I had to do some steps before I could set it up as a daily driver. ...like I have also cut a protection foil and applied to the back of the phone, I had to do something with my SIM cards and tried other things so

  30. Additionally, it seems retailers have also received a very few amount of Pro1 phones and maybe much fewer than what they wanted. I am sure they will have additional stock after other orders are fulfilled here and that will be the time when generally anybody will be able to buy it. It also allows some more time of polishing the firmware anyway. Also, I think canceling a pre-order because a few phones have appeared at retailers is not a really good decision anyway.

  31. It's not the end users fault fxtec sold to retailers first. The end user did nothing wrong by buying from retailer. Once fxtec sold them to retailers, you think everyone should have boycotted those retailers? Those retailers did nothing wrong either. Anyone who cancelled a preorder to buy from a retailer only hurt fxtec, cuz fxtec presumably sold the retailers at some discount.

  32. Let me clarify my feelings on this: not only is it rude to cut in line, but it is incredibly shortsighted. This is a very special device, and we are its enthusiasts--the Guardians of the Clack, so to speak. If we do not do what is necessary to make this device a success, and it fails, the odds are good that no one will attempt it again. While it is annoying that some retailers got their devices ahead of us, the wise response would have been to leave those devices for non-enthusiasts, shopping for their next impulse buy phone, who then could come to love the Clack, and become enthusiasts,

  33. Those whackos are the pencil pushers. I promise you there is many an engineer over there who are using D4s. I too will use it till the bitter end, but because it's such a productive device. It lacks the necessary LTE bands, but it hauls ass on their CDMA network where 13 isn't implemented.

It is completely ad-free and works in background DualSimRinger - As Pro1 currently does not have a setting of separate ringtones for two SIMs, I have installed this app yesterday. It looks to be working well, however, it seems it will request an in-app purchase in a week... 35. I'm using ideas from that link, yes. VERY helpful! But was traveling from 17th to the end of the year, so would not get back to receive shipment any sooner. I stuck a piece of closed cell foam cushion on the bottom of the phone temporarily until I got back. Not that hard to imagine, pic below of a perfectly decent 2 piece Body Glove case on a slider keyboard phone, that I know for a fact can take multiple 4' drops onto concrete and phone is unscathed. Given that we can get the Huawei and other cases to work, the bottom part is feasible. The top would be trickier design to

  37. I already said all that needs to be said: And mistakes? Oh, there were many mistakes. The many delays, the many miscalculations and misjudgements regarding time frames, regarding production and shipping obstacles, the rare, but often overoptimistic announcements and the general lack of official communication, and, yes, some chaos in the order in which shipments occured, with even some IGG backers still not having gotten their phones. But this one, i.e. serving those retailers with a negligible number of phones, wasn't a mistake. After Erik's explanation at the latest (which shouldn't eve

  38. I'm still in the "if it's not rooted, I don't use it" camp. LOS has the ability to turn on and off rooting with a switch (although some claim issues with using it, but I've only needed to once and it worked well). As far as the PRIV is concerned, no reason to feel stupid for selling it, I couldn't stand it and couldn't get rid of it fast enough! Then again, I was used to Motorola Droids and landscape physical keyboards, but still, as I see it, no sale of the PRIV could be considered premature.

  40. Today I have just received my Pro1 bought at dragonbox.de (still a pre-orderer with IGG coupon here). I have still not tested it too much but I am very convenienced with this device. I am very happy that I have ordered QWERTZ layout which works very well currently with the help of FinQwerty's QWERTY layout. (I would have been much happier with unshifted QWERTY anyway but the QWERTZ keyboard with a correct QWERTY layout is a good compromise.) Some sticky modifier keys would be good anyway and also the ability to access layout files somehow (I have still not looked how to do it) as I

  44. I'm pretty sure it has been mentioned before, but I didn't see it in this thread (admittedly a fast scan-- the problem with not gathering and updating a single list in OP): As far as I can tell, the backlight on the keyboard turns off when the screen times out and doesn't come back on when you wake up screen. You have to close and reopen the keyboard. I don't use the phone in total darkness. but I might sometime nd this would be pretty frustrating. It seems that waking the screen should also wake the keyboard backlight.

  45. Indeed I "tend to biased". As it is my firm believe that these guys are really good guys doing the best they can to give us the device most of us in here have been waiting for for years. And being in quite a bit of contact with them during the long test-process I feel I'm in a better position to judge their character, than some of the conspiracy people in here. Sure theoretically I could be wrong here, and it is all part of a very complex conspiracy scheme, but so many small things along the ways indicate that I'm right here, and that their only major wrongdoings are poor communication, and no

  46. This forum is the only reason that I have not yet cancelled my order. I wouldn't have been confident to wait for so long without the support of this community... Many members here may feel the same way and FxTec is lucky they don't have big cancellations, only because of this forum! So it's time the company took more interest here and had someone dedicated to this forum. But again, the way things are handled and delayed, no staff may want to be seen around here. 🙂
