  1. FYI... Made huge progress on selinux today. I should have an enforcing build by end of week. And I think it can go official after that.

  2. I contacted them about my screen not working. Explained what I had done to get it working again. Answered NO to the question if there was any water damage.. Then they asked me if I was willing to replace the screen myself, Hell yeah! So I had to wait a couple of weeks for the screen to be sent due to COVID-19. That was all settled within a week, except for receiving the screen. That took 3/4 weeks more or less.

  5. That's why I switched to Total Launcher where you can define two totally different layouts for portrait and landscape. Way better than Nova 🙂

  6. I wound up being shipped the phone anyways a month after requesting the refund... Using it since I couldn't resist opening the box but really wish they could update the software which should have been finalized first.

  8. No and yes. Lineage itself does not have GMS (aka. gapps). FxTec could take Lineage as a base and add GMS, but that has some big pitfalls. The biggest is trying to get certified, because nobody really knows if Lineage passes CTS (certification tests). These can be a real pain to get working. The better option is to actually develop the current stock software. Lineage (and many other Android custom ROM projects) are open source and various bug fixes and features can be picked from them. It doesn't take much to make a huge difference in usability. As others have mentioned, my

  9. At this rate it makes me think FXtec should really just ditch the company they are using, make Lineage the official OS and submit that certification...

  10. Bummer. I already feared that might be the case when I turned an Amazon Fire tablet into a usable device recently by flashing LineageOS and I couldn't get SafetyNet to fully pass with Magisk. Still, as that was the first time I attempted something like that, being happy enough that I managed to get LineageOS running at all, I thought I might have done something wrong. Not that I would need SafetyNet to pass on that device, though – Amazon Prime installs and runs, Netflix installs from APK, I'm not interested in Disney, and I don't run any other SafetyNet-sensitive apps on it. 12. Hi. Since installing the 20200620 update, I've noticed a Wireless Update notification (a plain circle) often popping up for a few seconds then disappearing. It seems to appear pretty much each time the Pro1 gets internet access - i.e. turning off and turning on Wi-Fi can trigger it. I've never had this behaviour in all previous updates. Wireless Update is set to check Daily. Has anyone else seen this too? Is it likely to be draining my battery unnecessarily? Any ideas how to stop this? EDIT: Not just Wireless Update.

  13. While I agree with you by using those layouts you can avoid the need for this feature, it is still useful if you don't want to install additional layouts. Lineage includes the standard AOSP layouts. The US International included has dead key on apostrophe, making normal english annoying, and there is no version with deadkeys only with altgr like pcs (and sailfishos) and those addon layouts have. Second, for english users who rarely use accents, it's easier than remembering key combinations rarely used. When used regularly, like é in José or résumé or ¹ in Pro¹ you memorize them etc n

  14. At one point it said summer 2019. You would think so. But the past has shown us this is not the case. The last time they shipped to retailers (dragonbox and clove) forum users (and others) snapped them up quickly, those with preorders with fxtec then cancelling their order. But also the past has shown is FxTec is not always accurate with their estimates. And if that Japanese site isn't even known for reliability, that makes it even less likely. I doubt they'll have them for sale mid July, and based on someone above saying Fxtec told them they won't get theirs til August, it do

  15. I observed similar things when opening keyboard in stock too. It's because the firmware send a keypress when keyboard opens/closes instead of using the android method. This was reported to them last year, we're waiting for a fix in stock. But it is resolved in lineage. Although I see it was sold quite a while ago.

  17. Hey all, Perhaps someone knows how to solve this and/or has the same problem. Ever since getting the Pro1 and using Stock Android the notification tray hasn't been synchronizing/working properly. Even if you open an app that has notifications active in the drop-down tray and read through all messages/e-mails etc. the notifications stay up. They only disappear by either clicking on them directly or swiping them away/removing them manually from the tray. Does someone know how to fix this? NB: Also added to the bug report-spreadsheet on the drive. Thanks in advance!

  19. This is possible already now by publishing an ad-supported and a paid version of an app. My guess is that greed or gold fever makes (many) app developers use the ad model for payment. I also presume that ad networks support greed by promising unrealistically high revenues. Some apps might achieve these revenue numbers, but most probably don't. I came to this conclusion after encountering countless games that exploit an addiction to gambling and countless apps that are mere copies of other apps. This is furthered by Google not allowing us to filter for apps without ads and in-app purc

  20. Apart from this kind of looking suspicious, it does at least deactivates dm-verity and forced encryption. Since the boot image is patched to deactivate dm-verity and data encryption, I guess you won't be able to install OTAs any more.

  21. That's because ... well ... it is. The stock software is not much more than the QCOM BSP (a reference for OEMs to start with) plus a custom launcher and updater.

  22. One other thing I noticed is that launching the app via the hardware button causes the majority of my issues with it. Whole thing felt like it was just a demo app provided by Qualcomm and not meant for end-user use.

  27. Email [email protected] to arrange a warranty repair for both of them. Please note, we're a little flooded with the recent batch at the moment, it may take a few days to get a reply, and then a couple of weeks to repair it once it arrives. We're going through all the piled repairs from the last few months of lockdown.

  28. Yeah, I better get a shipping confirmation soon, though I would be very sad to miss out. Bought the Nokia 7.2 for interim use and while it is very, very nice for the low, low price, the display cannot handle sun but is overly sensitive to accidental operation, say by the case-lid (you can buy a ton of matching cases) or the headphone cable.

  31. OK thanks, I'll just keep an eye on it for now. Reliability is kinda important and if the phone reboots and locks itself like this I may have to go with another phone, since my job requires me to be on-call.

  33. I just end up reverting to completely stock on the settings. Didn't know you were supposed to ignore that persistent "set up your physical keyboard" notification. Unrelated note, looks like I'm off to a bad start with this phone. This morning it was sitting at the boot screen to enter my PIN for decryption, i.e. it self rebooted. I'll see if it happens again if I can catch a debug report. It's a hard reboot as well, not like my Priv which only does a launcher reboot.

  37. Turns out it was a loose pin. I went in with my basic iFixit tool kit, followed the steps in this PDF took off the screen, unplugged and re-plugged in the section that was marked LCD screen, put everything back as it was, and it works again. Everything is back to normal and good to go (except for sending SMS, but that's a different problem having to do with Verizon).

  38. This is going to be a funny one. I'm the lucky owner of two broken Pro1s. Both from mid January batch. One I used for 6 months: Relatively poorly assembled to start with as the screen does not connect to both rubber pads when open causing more rattle than it should. Left ctrl key does not provide any tactile feedback anymore. Touch screen triggers ghost inputs rendering the device unusable. One I just got delivered yesterday from a gentlemen who hardly used it since he got it in January: Better assembled as the screen connects to both rubber pads when opened.
