It is sad indeed. But as I see it they had very few alternatives after being swindled. Redesign the Pro1(x) using as much as they can of the existing with the remaining money. Await the months or years a trial may take, and hope they win, and HOPE they can buy and stock whatever 835 they could find (if any!), and then have someone making the pcbs if they win - a high risk gamble, and the device would likely be quite outdated then, and no income while you and others were waiting. Start the development of a totally new Pro2, my guess would be it would reach us after 2021. and m6 points

That's one perspective to view it, and it is completely justified. Another perspective that is just as valid is what @EskeRahn just hinted at. With the imponderables of a business like this and a company as small as Fxtec it is at least a small wonder that they still exist and not yet had to file for insolvency, in which case we as orderers and backers (while I have finally managed to get a used one, I'm still waiting on a Pro¹ I ordered 17 months ago and a Pro¹ X I ordered 4 months ago) might come away completely empty-handed, no phone, no money. Instead, they seem to be intent on doing5 points

I would contend software optimization will matter more than outright processor power - at least for actual use scenarios. I hope that gap is filled. But we've hoped a lot since this started Also, @fxtec STOP giving time estimates. Just do periodic updates.2 points

I used this anker charging pad: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07THHQMHM/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 with this adapter: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07GWQ2GJC/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 I'm going to buy this other adapter https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B077HFFLMS/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 as it appears to deliver more power and is recommended for use with the charging pad. I'll let you know if it works2 points

So what I'm seeing is, the device I purchased in February 2020, which I have never received, is now going to be a different device than I purchased. I love waiting on stuff that's going to be slow and outdated by the time I get it, just to find out it will be even slower than before and a year later.2 points

There are some that do have triggers. ETA Prime has some reviews on youtube for them. Also, the Razer gamepad has a centered USB C jack from what I remember, so it wouldn't work with the Pro1. Good idea about the game streaming services. I actually want to try and stream from my PC to the phone, see how my GTX 1080 looks on the Pro1. Cyberpunk 2077 on a Pro1 would be... well... pretty cyberpunk. 😄 @3zetYou should try Doom3 on the phone, works like charm and you can set mouse sensitivity in game options, that basically translates to right analogue stick sensitivity in this case W2 points

Experience is quite great for GTA vice city, liberty city and san andreas. I didn't try for any GTA stories. Implosion, Republique, Bright Memory, Forgotten memories and Pascal's Wager also play great. (Bright memory is a FPS and a bit of a platformer and it works just fine) The only 2 sort of cons for this controller are: Right and left trigger are digital not analogue - that means that in a racing game for example, if acceleration is set to either of those buttons, you are either at full speed or stopped, the button is either pressed or not, you don't accelerate proportionall2 points

If you are like me, you're an Android enthusiast and you love how the keyboard on the F(x)tec Pro1 makes it feel like a miniature laptop. However, you must have also noticed that most of Android isn't built for landscape use. I've thought about it for a bit, and I decided to make a Tasker profile that seamlessly changes DPI when the keyboard is opened. Assuming your close-up eyesight is fine, this allows much more information to be displayed on the screen in landscape mode, and gives Chrome desktop-like tabs at the top (basically a tablet mode). Since I am loving it so much, I bet there's at l1 point

Qualcomm F(x)tec supplier has turned their back to F(x)tec and with a complete F*ck you, even after having fully promised to deliver and having been paid. Yeah, you can't make that **** up. So, we are left with 2 major choices with which F(x)tec has already tried to choose from. I wish we were consulted as a community first but I guess, when under stress, people make mistakes. Specially such newcomers into this business. Redesign of PRO¹ (possibly into PRO²) and use a much more recent SoC as powerful or more powerful than SD 835 (9 months delay) Slight redesign of PRO¹ to acco1 point

I am using my Pro 1 now for weeks with wireless charging and it works pretty fine. I use this Qi Receiver https://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B075L6MXJX/ and it works with nearly every loading pad. Two quite fast ones are these two https://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B0851XWYXK/ and https://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B07N67395S. How much watt it loads I don´t know but it is okay. I guess after (2 to) 3 hours it is fully loaded. I also "tuned" it a little bit by removing one of the layers of plastic coating and use some other foil as protection. Also removed the silver housing of the usb-c plug.1 point

I empathise. Not much better here in Romania either. At least I turned my apartment into a gym about a year ago when I sensed covid approaching and also beefed up my PC. I've never been so fit and never worked so much as I have in the last year (I'm a web designer and also learned video streaming and editing the last months for work). So, just making the best of it, I guess. :))) Glad I could recommend something of interest, regarding the controller.1 point

Good point, it was combined where there were less interest in buying second hand Pro1. I have modified the title, and hope it is more clear.1 point
-
Just a suggestion. If everyone who would love to have a new or used Pro1 posts here... well it could turn into a very long thread. 😄 I think the thread title is an unfortunate misnomer. It's a seller's market. So I think it would be more effective for people to post here when they have a Pro1 to sell and then buyers can talk about that one (or, better yet, PM the seller). Again, just a suggestion. If this thread becomes very long with buyer posts, a seller is unlikely to page back to find the first one who expressed interest.1 point

I'm not that much of gamer, but now that I've finally got a Pro¹ I just couldn't resist and bought two of those! I never had a gamepad before for whatever I used for gaming, whether a phone or a tablet or a PC. Now It is about time I got one, and I bought one for my partner, too, even though she doesn't have a Pro¹ (she's happy with her Fairphone and wants to use it for as long as possible). I guess it cannot hurt, especially since it's getting less and less clear how long the COVID-19 lockdown will have to continue. Well, I bought identical controller for my Pro1, now I can say its great handheld 😄 Honestly, I recommend to check one of the cloud services like gamepass or Nvidia one. I'm smashing trough the Minecraft Dungeons right now! Ah, yes, I forgot about that. Cheaper gamepads does not have triggers, just plain buttons. Still, the only construction I know have that triggers is a Razer gamepad which is about 4x more expensive than that chinese one, and even better - in Razer one you cannot switch the modes (Android, iOS, Xinput) so you need to buy one of three different ver1 point

There are no hardware security (or security capabilities) features missing if using the SD662. What it doesn't have is hardware acceleration for many security algorithms. That just means that those will be processed much much slower than SD835 can. That can be related to slower internet speeds that is reported/announced for the SD662. Edit: The only hardware security that an have meaning is the TrustZone. Is that the one you were missing? If so, for what purpose in the smartphone?1 point

This is all very well, and except for the grouping in the middle layer seems a fairly objective description. But it is absurd to categorize something where you expect/hope for something in return as investments or non-investments based on the nature of the return and not the expected value. If you fund something from the good of your heart or to support something (e.g. LineageOS, or Greenpeace) without any clearly priced value of the outcome, it is clearly not an investment. (*) But if you expect/hope to profit by a reward with a value not substantially less than the funded amount, it o1 point

I miss my Sidekick. Still the best keyboard on a phone ever.1 point

I really believe that this kind of discussion is fruitless. If we agree on the common goal of keeping keyboard phones alive, there is no choice but to back the (few) companies like Fxtec. However, there being no choice sadly does not mean there is a guarantee of success: not every transfer of money is a purchase whose object can be claimed. Think of it like this: If I donate money to WWF to help them save the Amur leopard, and then the cat goes extinct nonetheless, would I get refunded? No, of course, I wouldn't. And I still donate every year.1 point

I can go again with my example : I want to sell furnitures online to French consumers, being myself based in France. 1) I make my own eshop website hosted on a French server. 2) I make my own eshop websote hosted on an American server. 3) I sell them on Etsy. 4) I sell them on IGG but I say "no no it's not a sell it's an investment" All 4 of theses make no difference and it's very fortunate otherwise it would be far to easy to not respect any consumer/local law in any country in this world...1 point
-
Actually EU law applies to any website that sells and delivers directly to EU consumers. Here the selling company is (was ?) also a EU company so the EU laws applies to them also by this way. The platform in the middle used to sell change nothing. Otherwise Amazon would not have to respect EU laws when they sell here (and they do), that would be crazy. Or for another example, if I, French, create my eshop on Squarespace (American platform I believe) to sell things to other Frenchs. It's obvious I can't avoid EU/French laws only because I used an oversee website... H1 point

I am no lawyer (and am happy about that). However, what you write is the opposite of what IGG promises to their partners. They explicitly state that backer's money does not need to be refunded in case of a project failure. Also, despite of being a proud European myself, I do not see how (or why) EU law should be applicable to a California company.1 point

I really hope we get Android 10, but I fear I'll be disappointed. The Pro1 is already two versions out of date, and the Android 12 dev preview just dropped, so that's on the way soon. I use stock Android because I am a Google Pay user and that won't work on Lineage etc. Never mind the fact that the Pro1 was advertised as getting Android 10, so not getting it would be yet another ding against the company as discussed elsewhere. On the other hand, if they manage to skip 10 altogether and give us 11, that would make up for a lot 🙂1 point
-
No, you all have to stop supporting this IGG bullshit. IGG can write whatever they want (like that we can cancel from them up to 2 weeks after the end of the campaign 🙄) it does not override EU laws. The only way for fxtec to not fulfill their side of the contract or refunding is to file for bankruptcy of the company. And with all of that we are all protected by EU consumer laws on remote orders. So even the 14 days return on reception applies if you don't like what you receive. On IGG we pay a precise amount of money in exchange of a service or product with a delivery date1 point

As you read from others, you will not get any official reponse on this forum. IGG rules (as far as I understand them) allow Fxtec to either choose to refund backers or keep the money nontheless in the case their project (the Pro1-X) fails. Now, they seem pretty serious about not letting the project fail, but modifiy the Pro1-X such that it can still be delivered. So (again, as far as I understand those things) the "project" (the Pro1-X) is still alive and well, and refunding (all) backers is not even in question. As I have previously stated, I believe the Pro1-X will be the best1 point

That's not true :) I Ordered a Pro1 when it was completely new and canceled my order as it was delayed for more than 6 months already. (year or two ago) I got my full refund - Thank you FxTec! You are realy a great company and trustful, but please work on your communication skills! Now I saw a new RAM upgraded version for an realy attractive price and I thought, now I'll wait, no mather how long it will take. But I must say, I'm realy thinking of askung for refund, because the missing hardwase-security features are really painfull for me. Especially because my daily business is1 point

Hello. Is there any chance to get a refund? I've contacted the Fxtec team via IGG on February 11 but still got no response. As I said in that message, I'm using a BB Priv and its storage pisses me off more and more when it comes to modern™ apps that intensively use the storage, the phone just overheats and throttles. Pro1 (X) was my hope and I've backed it but then they suddenly say "oh no we're out of CPUs so suffer with your current phone a bit more". I'm aware that Fxtec could be in a trouble but I still want the money back to buy something else as a replacement for my curr1 point

SD662 (Q1 2020) is almost the same chip than SD665 (Q2 2019). I think that both chips will be supported to same date. Same goes for SD732G (2020 Q3) and SD730G (2019 Q2). So, I don't think that there is difference between SD730G vs SD662 in the life cycle. And there is also SD720G (2020 Q1) which is as old as SD662. I think that it is all about the cost. Personally I would ditch 48MP camera sensor if that could save some money for SD700 series. But if the SD662 is the only choice then I take it.1 point

I could wait even longer. The Pro1x is a device I plan on using for years, it's an investment for the long term and being niche, I know it won't get iterations and updates every year. I'd rather wait years and have it finally delivered with no compromises. An older SOC is not an issue for me, I plan on using mainline eventually, which also answers the question on whether I care about certification (however, I believe having Android as an option really increased the backer base and was therefore likely a sound decision). My plan is to use the device to run Mobile Linux, meaning it's best if the1 point

I see. I'm not much updated on that. I'd still rather have those and go forward than this bate and switch from Qualcomm who took the money and then didn't deliver to f(x)tec. Maybe any of those ones would be easier and faster to work with... I just wonder if Qualcomm blocked F(x)tec from using them.1 point

As others have already stated in the Indiegogo comments the 622 is noticeably slower in benchmarks vs the 835, and it doesn't have external display connectivity. IMO it's the wrong chipset to be substituting into the device, the 720G series would be a better option. While I'm not exactly sure of the EOL of that particular chipset nor its price point it appears to be the more suitable alternative to the inferior SD662. I am really disappointed that FxTec chose to downgrade their product. If this is not rectified before shipment it will likely be the last phone I buy from them.1 point

Woah that looks like a perfect fit. I wanted to play GTA Liberty City Stories and Vice City Stories but the keyboard controls were pretty awkward (to be honest these games generally play horrible without a mouse). How is the experience in first person games with this?1 point
-
Ergonomics are good too with the tilted screen. The controller is the Ipega 9083s, found it for about 30$. They also have some app for mapping controls for games with no controller support, but I didn't get into that yet. I added some padding to where the phone sits and it's a perfect fit. Felt adhesive pads you usually put beneath chair legs to not scratch the floor did the trick. Sound seems way louder too. Maybe it bounces around beneath the controller and the phone.1 point

No, there was a need for a screwdriver and a prying tool for what I did. The keyboard is glued, but I didn't feel the need to go into it.1 point
