I've thought a few times about how it might have made more sense to NOT have any stock at all. I mean if you're going to half-ass something and have a good alternative, why not skip the half assed solution anyway? But I think that GMS certification was a big part of it, including safetynet. I hope in the future fxtec will have the balls to skip the google stuff from the start, one could interpret the pro1x shipping with lineage as a hesitant first step in that direction. But there should definitely be a biohazard splash screen if you're using stock. It's a paradox to me - you would be3 points

I have a Seek Thermal CompactPRO thermal camera which needs a Micro USB to Type-C converter and it works together with my Pro1 that way. So yes, it has USB OTG support. However, I don't know if the OS has generic UVC support.2 points

I feel exactly the same way on the second part. If I knew a way to trouble free move to AICP (or Lineage) as well as back (if I should regret), I too would have made the jump long ago. I do not have enough knowledge on what is going on behind the scene to know the explanation on the why. But no matter the why, the outcome is still annoying for us as users. Personally I have simply stopped expecting an update (and even stopped and disabled the OTA services with adb shell pm disable-user) . Should it arrive anyway, it will be a nice surprise. Luckily (for me) the most severe bugs I have ha2 points

I just recently installed AICP on my Pro1 and, in another thread, I was asked how I went about getting root and Safetynet working, including Google Pay working. It was pretty straight-forward really, but I had to dig around a bit to figure it out. Here are the exact steps, as best I recollect them. This may not be the best or only way, but it worked for me. And thanks to a number of developers/contributors and forum posts which I consulted while figuring out this process. - Wipe phone, fastboot flash Lineage recovery, then adb sideload AICP and NikGapps ZIPs. Checked phone boots into Andr1 point

It seems to be quite big tolerances for the hinge screws, looked at mine 2 days ago. 1 of the screws where 1.65mm in diameter, the other one 1.78mm Will do an attempt to make new screws to se if that helps.1 point

I just needed to make sure all three options under "Auto-fill Services" were enabled ("Auto-fill Service", "Use Accessibility", "Use Draw-Over"). Could be that I also needed to force-stop and restart the browser once, but I'm not sure. Is there a list of WebView-based browsers somewhere? I would need to re-test; I've tested so many browsers that for the most of them I wouldn't remember which one worked and which didn't...1 point

It had been 5 weeks since I had last heard from support. They said they were waiting for a shipment, but expected to send my replacement USB port that week. I thought it had been a long time in transit, so I emailed them to ask them for the tracking number. They told me they never sent the USB port, as promised, and were short on parts. Paraphrasing, they said they would send it when they get more parts. Obviously, not very happy about them not sending it, nor the fact they didn't tell me they weren't sending it.1 point

I know you're joking, but most engineering software went to subscription plan and normal licences are for older versions of it without win10 support. And they works the same so the choice is easy.1 point

The slow response time is an interesting question. Currently, I don't have this issue but I used to have it before I did a factory reset as it started to have soft-restart issues after every reboot, then after each charging connection. After factory reset, that problem has disappeared but since then, I have another problem. Instead of slow appearing of incoming call screen I had, incoming call screen does not come up, but if I press power button, lock screen appears together with a message of continue call, and after clicking on it, incoming call screen appears and I can pick it up (s1 point

I'd give this browser another go if I could download it. I'm tapping the green download button but the screen just flickers and the download doesn't start. ๐ค1 point

There is absolutely no excuse for the state stock is in right now. If I knew it would turn out like this I would have went with Lineage from the get go. Right now my phone is just too "lived in" and I can't be bothered to wipe / install and set everything up again. ๐1 point

If you want to glue rounded display into frame, then use gel glue with good temperature resistance. From my own experience I can not recommend chinese glue like B7000 etc. Better is use transparent pattex gel glue...only disadvantage is long time waiting for hardening - approx 2hours fixed-5hours fully fixed. ...and yess $250 for display unit is crazy price!!! It is same price as for new original (and always working) display for S10 samsung.1 point

The screen has adhesive around the edges. The middle part of the display which originally adhesive was covered I think for easier disassembly. You should apply some heat near the edges of screen but avoid excessive heat. The best is if you have a temperature-controlled heat gun, but use it at the lowest temperature (100 Celsius degree for me) and a bit away to not stress the plastic parts (or even the display, but it is not important now ๐ ). Then try to gently separate the display and frame using a slim guitar picker. Ensure to not stress the frame mechanically, so do not break1 point

But you might be able to find a local trustworthy repair shop, where you could bring the device and screen, and have them replace it. I do not know if FxTec got hem in stock, but try contacting them at support@fxtec.com, I would wish spare parts were more available, too, I personally would like to have a few things in store for the years to come.1 point

As @EskeRahn wrote, replacement display is available on Aliexpress. However, you have to separate original display from the frame and glue the new one in. So you may need some tools like "guitar picker", but it seems it usually comes together with these replacement screens. I have changed my screen a few months ago as my original screen started to get spontaneous touch actions. However, yesterday I had to replace my replaced screen again as it has started to has problems which initially seemed to be "solved" by turning the screen off/on again, but yesterday it became completely dead1 point

Very common service "we can repair Samsung, Nokia, iPhone, Xiaomi, or any other mobile phone/tablet/gadjet", i don't think that in Russia i can find special FX Tec specialists. Serviceman says that "inner slider mechanism and disassemblying is like old Nokia n9, nothing very difficult".1 point

I wouldn't get my hopes up about a new phone anytime soon from this company. I ordered an FXtec Pro1 in February 2020, and still haven't seen any sign of it. Vaporware?0 points

Umm. I just emailed fxtec and they said you only get the screen?? My message: When you say screen, do you mean just a screen or the entire top half of the phone including the selfie cam, pcb, sensors, etc. Fxtec reply: The screen included in the tech bundle is just the screen on its own (in case you want or need to replace your Pro1(X) screen). So how is it any better than the elephone u screens from aliexpress? I'm confused...0 points
