Strangely, the seemingly irrelevant APN works. When I went somewhere less off-grid, everything came to life. Now to get the screen fixed and all will be well. :)3 points

I don't own the Cosmo Communicator, but I do own its predecessor, the Gemini PDA. The 4G model of the Gemini can be used as a phone, but it's really not designed to be a phone--it has no outer screen and is essentially built around its keyboard. I bought the WiFi-only model of the Gemini PDA knowing that I had no intention to use it as a phone; I always intended to buy the Pro1 / Pro1 X or a device like it to use as an actual phone. To that end, I installed Debian Linux on the Gemini and use it as a full Linunx UMPC. The Gemini is now 5 years old and is definitely showing its age. I1 point

Me too. Better to have one usable KB phone than three unusable & outdated.1 point

Though I perked for a Pro1X, I doubt that it will be much of an improvement for daily usage, except the more stanardised QWERTY. But I think there is a good chance for more (security) updates on the Pro1X, so that might prolong its life time. As I expect it might be many years before we see a new alternative. On the Cosmo, you should rather have a look at their successor the Astro, it seems an overall improvement. The sliding (like most previous sliders except the Nokias) will require a balanced push to open, but should not posse a serious problem. The larger keys might making typing1 point

Also stock only had it since its last update... Heat helps disassembling screen's frame, so yes.1 point

I'm not 100% sure as i have rooted with magisk, but i recall doing that flash when i was running stock way back and i didn't need to root then. Also on lineage under developer options i have allow rooted debugging so it might be enough itself.1 point

The Pro1 seems to have a bit weaker reception than other devices. But be aware faking signal strength bars is common in the industry. You need to compare reception with actual signal numbers in dB to be sure. And always judge functionality based on ... well ... functionality, not signal bars.1 point

The title is a lie and plain clickbait, but let's have a laugh while we wait :).1 point

If that happens, they'll just repackage them and sell as Pro1 Slim edition :)1 point

Since deliveries have started, I think it's worth to look back what long way they have come since the early prototypes :).1 point

That wasn't even my goal. It just told me 2MB limit so I couldn't fit two on one post. p.s. (shoulda read the last page of the thread before replying, didnt notice it, and no delete option here or I'd just remove it. But yeah too lazy to resize or host elsehwere, just copy img from another tab and paste directly into msg here ctrl+v).1 point

If you look in the bug thread he actually had troubles with the 2MB limit - so had to split *LOL* ...So now you have an excuse to use hi-res renders... ๐ฅด (I was not even aware there is a leaderboard. And it clearly shows I have troubles shutting up ๐)1 point

Did you all notice that on every of those advertisement posts on their official twitter some fingers are blocking the view to the keyboard cutouts? I begin to wonder if the fingers are included in the device. https://mobile.twitter.com/thefxtec/status/1191784773796147200/photo/11 point

Finally enough phones to play agent and just step on your phone after finishing a call. A dream comes true. P.S. I think it would be easier to just give eske a container full. Logistics are less complicated that way.1 point
-
You may not have the time to waste, but I do and can say that I'm very impressed that you were within 23 containers of being dead on.1 point
-
If you exclude Netman's one that fell off, I estimate based on package dimensions of 20x13x8 cm, you could fit 32,343 per container, and I count 1432 containers, so that means 4,534,575 pro ones. I do like the keyboard layout tho... <spoiler>I know it may seem like I have lots of time to waste, and I actually considered doing that for real, but in reality, I just made up all those numbers</spoiler>1 point

We regret having to announce a further delay, but the pictures of the delivering ship were mixed up. The ship loaded with the Pro1s was actually this one... Optionally you can benefit from our special self-dry offer...1 point
