Exactly. All devices are made with a number of decisions / compromises. Different people got different usage patterns, different hand size, More or less sharp vision.... etc So we will never have a single device that is optimal for everyone. But hopefully a wide range of products fitting a wide range of people.

We have various threads where VoLTE have been mentioned. e.g. on AT&T closing down some networks. VoLTE is similar to VoWiFI in that it handles normal voice-calls through pure data-connection. I know that VoLTE works with LineageOS, 😁 And others have reported it working with stock Android too. - But I have not (yet?) been able to get it to work with stock for me. It is easy to test if it is working on the Pro1, as we can select LTE as the only allowed network type (Settings, Network, Mobile network, Advanced). And if voice calls still works VoLTE is active. 🙂

Indeed. I certainly dislike that "might" in their mail!!! To me the qwertZ is far superior also for typing English as the keys are where they are expected to be... (It's hardly a secret that I'm not a fan of the shifted Qwerty, a non-shifted qwerty would have been much better and had worked internationally better too IMHO)

I would say that a drastically different keyboard always takes some getting used to. I'm not typing fast on it (neither on a pc), but physical keyboards give me a LOT fewer errors than on a fake keyboard. And clearly faster on the Pro1 than the Priv for me, simply due the Priv's limited numbers of keys making Danish far from easy to type on the Priv. The swiping on the Priv could often help guessing the words with ÆØÅ before I needed to type it. On the other hand I got a lot of unwanted swipes trying to move the fingers quickly. So certainly do not miss the Priv keyboard.

Interesting. It could be extra sensitive to static electricity. And static electricity is affected by the materials of the clothes you are wearing and the humidity in the air.But odd indeed.

Thanks. A brief look does not seem like any of them adding anything I would expect to be of substantial size. We are talking +8% of the total LineageOS so can hardly be just minor adjustments... Is something just not packed the same way, or have we got an unwanted side-load of some kind? Is it perhaps the mentioned Samsung and/or LeEco stuff that are actually included in the package?

It matters what "English" you selected. I can not find it in neither proper English nor US. But if you de-select all (yes silly) Alt+U works. and if you select the "international style" it is the three key combo.

AFAIK not all pre-orders have been handled yet. So neither layout is in stock.

Your provider MIGHT have to explicitly enable VoWiFi for your sim - assuming you have not just moved the sim over. Try asking their support 🙂

Indeed, but the keyboard drivers of the Pro1 are not part of stock AOSP. So @tdm is not messing with the Android stuff here. On the contrary he is trying to make the Pro1 hardware to work better with the hardware-keyboard support present in native android. AND doing this in a way so what is printed on the keys are still respected when US Qwerty is selected. And this also allows for selecting any of the other native android key-layouts. SURE there might be custom layouts that does a better job for a specific language than what the default android offers in LOS. But on the contrary to what Stoc

Obviously more users are using Stock, so it is either to have two set of code, or to argue that the two Android-branches should work equally. And personally I hope that stock will look at LineageOS more than the other way round. As you say the model of DE-selecting all layouts is an odd idea. With Stock FinQWERTY is a must, but it is a MUCH more clever solution to make the base standard, so all the existing stock language layouts give something reasonable. It will still allow anyone to make their custom layouts. Yes indeed this 'steals' the yellow arrow to fixup the keyboard to standard.

A very major reason for using LineageOS currently is that it fixes a lot of what is broken in the Stock Android implementation.... One could even says that @tdm's take on the Yellow arrow is ALSO in "fixing what is broken", as it allows for the few billion users not using English as their primary language to better use the device... As it standardise the qwerty, so standard 'language packs' can be used on top. So it might not be a bad idea at all to include that too in a future Stock OTA....

Just been offered a new official OTA. I will attempt to let it do it OTA on one of them..... (it has gone up a substantial 50MB, so would be interesting to know what has been added) ADD I: Download and manual flashing worked fine. ADD II: OTA download&update took an hour, but it got through this time.
