  1. Well You could do that (depending on how soft the case is), But it would be awkward at a table at the least, tilting the keyboard away. Also having it to the right prevents accidental key/fingerprint interaction. I think the optimal would be to find one like the one we just found, but with a full front window, so people could mount it either way as they please. (Still those that would like it to the right would have to make speaker holes) But the interesting is that by this we found a design that is cheap to make, and thus could be quite cheap to have produced specifically for the Pr
  2. It seems they did.... Just tested in Android. YouTube search "Stereo Test". Headphones are OK though. Hope they can swap them it in a software-driver...
  3. Note that for the Pro1, we would want the book to open to the right (Japan-style) to have the flap away to the back when using the keyboard. So the windows are going to be swapped, and the large top windows could be large enough for swiping up/down. We would still need to cut/punch holes for the earpiece, used up side down though.
  4. HOLD it, it is their search-function that show wrong results!!!!! So it is NOT for the Elephone U Pro 🙄😫 http://www.mycaseshop.de/epages/64909749.sf/de_DE/?ObjectPath=/Shops/64909749/Categories/Elephone/Elephone_U__U_Pro It is a generic case fitting many, and the images are misleading too... Hmm will try to find it somewhere else!! Just ordered one, and we will see if/how it fits....
  5. It is, after applying a red square and reducing to 40%. The Pro1 has 2:1 aspect ratio, and at least the uploaded image was 864x432. Here a fake one with a fill of the background (they use images from other phones in the listing...)
  6. Well that was what I meant. Might be interesting to play around with, but on the other hand not likely to be really useful unless it ends up supported. As they deliberately maims it without offering you the options to buy off the blocking...😥 It is a bit like selling a free app with limited functions, telling you that there are additional interesting things in the pro version - and then prevent you from buying the pro version....
  7. I doubt the window will fit, and especially not mounted up side down,,,, But could be wrong, If we are REALLY lucky then up side down small window will match the number, and the large one allow for a swipe up or down.... And the glue is supposed to be reusable, but for how many times I do not know. I also find the soft inner case approach more appealing, also giving better protection.
  8. ...And on the value part. Before people think that is a huge profit, remember this is the value of pure raw hardware out of the factory. The margin up to the sales price has to cover all the common base cost like he development costs, financing plus all other F(x)tec costs. And then licensing, delivery, customs and taxes are on top. For a low volume product as the Pro1, these base expenses makes a huge impact on each device (On a millions selling device they would be spread out to a few dollars each) A guessing calculation: Let us guess they are selling 20K devices, this would mean
  9. Thanks for this! I had planned to play around with Sailfish bit now I will not... I fully understand that some features are charged for, but they COULD offer the features limitation turned off for €50 (or perhaps more fairly slightly reduced) also for phones they themselves do not support (yet). The blocking of the Android apps and the usage of a fingerprint reader renders the whole thing a developer sandbox, and not something usable. So for now I will ignore Sailfish until Pro1 at some point might be officially supported. Or they add some way to buy in these basics.
  10. Googled a bit for the interesting window-cases you found, and some seem to use a different approach for the hold. Reusable glue, rather than a inner soft shell. One like this might work right out of the box without any modifications at all, as it is just the cover (though the front interaction on the lock screen might not, especially if used reversed). This also used glue, but should be just fine to reverse, but would need a new camera hole
  11. That might work, yes. But the Elephone being both 1mm less wide and 5.6mm less thick, we would miss quite a bit in circumference, so it would have to be a flip case that offered a quite loose fit. I added a little on re-gluing the flip case here.

    Keyboard

Well as a luncher thing, I feel that setting it up from within the launcher settings is a quite natural place, Any other Launcher can implement similar things. But it would be a bit odd for the Pro1 to overrule the keyboard usage any launcher might have. I would have expected that the default behaviour of the keyboard in a launcher would be to jump to the icon with the text matching what you started typing. Several launchers launches a search dialogue when using the keyboard. So one of these behaviours could be a short and the other a long press. Of course one could im

    Spare Parts

Thanks a million! I better buy one of those as a spare... And now we can easily see what was meant by the extra two holes, making access to the lower screws easy when the screen part is off!
  14. If this is to be real keys and not just touch, it would be awesome. But why not stay staggered?
  15. Note that the keys are not flat, so it must be some elastic foil to get a good fit. And the labels for a laptop would most likely need to be cropped into the letters to fit on the key. So I would hunt for something for some smaller devices.
  16. Could be an interesting poll too. I for one am not quite sure if I would have preferred a non-shifted US-QWERTY or a non-shifted national DK-QWERTY if both were available, I lean towards the DK. So went for QWERTZ for my primary phone. (I guess most in here know that I'm not a fan of the letter shifted qwerty...😇 )
  17. Thanks I'm almost ambidextrous, so hold it in the left hand, and operate either by right index or by left thumb. So mostly an issue of top/down more than right/left. If filled from below, it would allow me to make a group with say a dozen of the most frequently used apps. Another option would be to make the bar multi-line (MUCH better than scrolling!), but that would waste space when I'm not interested in the most frequent.
  18. AFAIK they consider ANY order a pre-order, until general availability.
  19. I would love if there were an additional option: * Disable screen touch sensitivity AND fingerprint scanner when ambient sensor triggered Many devices do the first, but it oddly does not seem to be a stock Android option. This would be great both * during calls * when inserted into a pocket * when used with a flip case. Only the second part is especially important for the Pro1, but it is a general request so there might be apps i did not find that can do these. See also this on the touch. Note that this should be an OPTION, as some would hold the device closed
  20. You can do the page thing 'sort of' by making your own category, and drag things into that. However items are placed list style in the worst possible way for one handed right handed usage, as they are displayed book-style, starting top left, where they are hardest to reach. It would be nice if they offered a setting to allow the lines of icons to 'sink' to the bottom, so any empty lines would be at the top.
  21. Well there is no reason for us to expect an even distribution of the orders of qwertY versus qwertZ over time. So as they hoped to produce all, but did not reach that, they would not know what the exact fair ratio needed would be before they decided where to cut it short (at 60%) before the CNY. I mean the ratio needed at 50%, 60%, 70%, .. 100% could be different, so could be hard to hit the right Ratio before deciding to stop at 60%. And to muddy thing furthers, if they hit that ratio wrong, then some countries with predominant request of one type could be benefited respectively hit
  22. Looks nice 🙂 Though I personally prefer the tilted type like he Pro1, and these renders are very optimistic on how far they let it slide, I would fear for how fragile that would be. And at first look it would be harder than the Pro1 to open without screen interaction, as you can not lift, and there is nowhere left to push. But one could go for motors of course.
  23. I use Firefox as the primary browser, but extremely seldom used it uniterrupted for half an hour. But never seen the behaviour you describe, as far as I can remember. Is it a recent thing? It was just updated 16h ago on mine, to 68.4.2 . So could be a fixed bug (Or a recently introduced one)? So not much help from here, sorry.
