FxTec Pro1 has a special Settings section called Slider. One of those settings called "Landscape orientation lock" is badly broken both at the user level and at the system and application developer level. At the user level: When enabled it does not always switch to landscape when the keyboard is opened. When disabled the software keyboard pops up even when the keyboard is opened. At the system and developer level: When enabled all seems to be working as expected and apps get a configuration changed notification whenever the keyboard opens or closes. When d

RIP Pro1 - Caught a corner after a short fall

Remove the screen assembly first, there are five screws at the back of the display underneath stickers. Unhook the flexible flat cable. Then I believe you need to pry apart the screen itself from the assembly's frame. I believe it is just glued in place. There must be a small tool included with your replacement screen to help with that. -
and it is hard to prove the device hardware is at fault in this case. If you are mostly driving the same car you could use a BT GPS receiver such as this: https://buy.garmin.com/en-US/US/p/645104 Disclaimer: I work for Garmin. I never used that device myself though and I don't do product support so don't blame me if you are not satisfied with it, do your own research before buying 😁

Maybe Pro1 does not get a good GPS signal in your car for some reason. Do you get a fix when you leave it outside with a clear view of the sky? Was AGPS enabled?
-
Just published release v1.0.4 adding new shortcuts for tab cycling as Ctrl+Tab annoyingly goes back to the top of the page.
-
While you there you may also check that every other location services have been properly enabled.

I doubt it, looks hard coded in Android.

The lengthy initial fix problem is a well known GPS issue that is supposed to be mitigated by AGPS. With GPS only it may take a good 15mn without moving with a clear view of the sky to get a fix. That's especially true if you kept GPS off for a long time or if you moved significantly since your last GPS fix. If you keep on driving before your initial fix it is very possible you won't get a fix until you remain stationary long enough. Now AGPS is supposed to help speed up initial GPS fix. It looks like Pro1 is using a service from Qualcomm called IZat for this. Go to Settings >

Yes Actually it is just an Android App too. Can be used without car integration.

Does the software keyboard come up when closed but stuck in landscape?
-
Did you try a reboot?

The web site currently states 10 to 12 weeks. However we still have people who ordered over 12 months ago and are still waiting. My guess is that somehow some orders got forgotten and are still at the bottom of the stack for some reason. More than once we've seen people experiencing long delays and then stuff get sorted pretty quickly once they got in touch with support through email or forum. It looks like FxTec is pretty bad at prioritising but if you manage to get their attention they can sort you out quite fast. I would advise people with long outstanding order to contact FxTec

Teamviewer (Remote Desktop App) Double Spacing

I understand it is an issue for multiple people on stock and it's not an issue on Lineage. -

@Erik any chance you could tackle that issue in an upcoming firmware update? -
How intrusive are the curved screen accidental presses?
Slion replied to Saguro's topic in Pro1 - Thoughts & questions
Good point, it takes some getting used to to avoid touching the screen edge while using the keyboard's number row. My solution is to make sure my nails are long enough 🤣 -

Anyone tried https://github.com/aravindsagar/ScreenShift to reduce screen size thus keeping the edges unused? Looks like it needs root though... -
I got a tracking number and they apparently just replaced it. Looking forward to that delivery.

New owner threads are quiet though.

@ErikI just sent an e-mail to support hoping to get a status update on that repair or replacement. You've had that device for about 10 weeks already. Here is a short reminder of my story: Got a Pro1 in January. Touch screen started acting up 6 months later reading ghost inputs. Bought another Pro1 from a gentleman who did not use it and it turned out the keyboard had an electrical fault. Swapped the screen assembly between my two broken Pro1s to have at least one working phone which is still working to this day thankfully. Sent you the resulting Pro1 with broken t

Not an issue for me either. Then again I've been using mostly curved edge devices for the last 4 or 5 years. -
Teamviewer (Remote Desktop App) Double Spacing
Slion replied to zraskolnikov's topic in Pro1 - Thoughts & questions
I've had that double space issue in another app. Not sure which one it was nor where exactly in the app. It could have been while writing a review in the Amazon app. I ought to try TeamViewer. -
I doubt you will get it this year.

batch of Pro1’s ready to ship early September
Slion replied to goodyes's topic in General Discussion
I'm betting they will have to refresh the hardware before they get there. -
That would give you insanely small fonts. I just set it to 420 from 360 which was the default.
