@VaZso, if you reinstall Button Mapper, does the problem come back?
-
Agreed, on the not being able to boot off an externally patched boot image (patched with TWRP, @Waxberry). Some phones allow it and some don't. I just figured fxtec would, since they are about open access to everything and allowing users to control their own devices. Allowing this doesn't even change anything on the device, so it is a safe option to allow, in theory. Being able to remove the encryption is technically a lacking feature, not a bug, too. But the same as the above, it would be nice to have that option built in, or have formal documentation on how to do it otherwise.

If it was me, I would ask them to send you a corrected keyboard and then you'll have a spare in case the original one wears out or the letters wear off. That seems fair, since you do have a defect. However, I'd use it and think fondly of it, as others have said, by being unique and also a reminder of the special nature of the phone, in general. And each time you see the upside down 3, it will be a reminder for you to send negative karma to Steve Jobs, wherever he may be, for putting all of us keyboard lovers in this minority situation. 😉

A fellow Minnesotan? I thought I'd have the only one in the state. 😉 Ooo...I just checked and here is the updated location history: ... 8:50 am ROSEVILLE, MN At local FedEx facility 5:46 am MINNEAPOLIS, MN At destination sort facility 4:05 am MEMPHIS, TN Departed FedEx location ... I'm on the north end of the cities. There is a *chance* it could be delivered tomorrow (Sunday) instead of Wednesday!

I looked at it earlier, but nothing jumped out at me. I just looked again. Is it the time column for the 3C app? That's the accumulated CPU time, so the idea is that if you reboot, and the overall cpu usage is high, you can look at that list and see which app used the most since there reboot? Or, as you said, if you can change the interval, then you can see a more instantaneous value?

Memory Cards. Recommendations and Suggestions.
david replied to MickH's topic in Pro1 - Thoughts & questions
I pulled the plug and ordered the SanDisk Extreme Pro SDXC UHS-I U3 A2 V30 128GB + Adapter on Amazon. It looked like it would be coming from SanDisk, but after I ordered, I realized it was from a third party seller. I sure hope it isn't counterfeit, but I'll test it to be sure I'm getting the speed, etc. The memory card should arrive on Monday. The phone on Wednesday. :-) -
Update on my order, posted in the other topic:

Just got this in an email from FedEx: "Hi, DAVID. Clearance issues have been resolved for your package from EXPANSYS (HONG KONG) LIMITED. Shipment has been released for delivery." The tracking shows that it is now in Memphis, TN. It was in Lantau Island, HK yesterday. Here is what it shows for when it arrived in the USA: ... 11:19 pm MEMPHIS, TN International shipment release - Import 10:36 pm MEMPHIS, TN Arrived at FedEx location ... It is still scheduled for delivery in Minnesota next Wednesday, 1/29/2020.

Can you show a screenshot of what this gives you? Are you saying it will show the current cpu usage for each process?
-
I have actually done that to my current phone. When the battery gets very low, it heats up when charging and the safety protection kicks in and stops charging, so the phone runs out of battery and dies. It doesn't always happen, but has happened sometimes. I think when the battery is older/degraded, it happens more. So what I have done is to put it between ice packs while charging. :-)

I was just curious how much work a casual bad guy would have to go through. For a real casual one, who doesn't know how to transfer data through adb, that does seem like an easy way for them to disable it and then boot into the phone to get at the goodies. Also good for someone who doesn't remember their code/pattern or it gets set wrong or fails for some reason. Magisk must be intercepting that functionality that is auto enabling encryption on first boot I guess. Maybe by setting whatever the system settings set when they allow disabling it?
-
Thanks for all the info, and obviously, for the LOS work. Greatly appreciated. Regarding diabling the lock code in recovery, that is by modifying a file? Yeah, I meant running the SD card unencrypted so that it can be accessed in another computer, which is how a lot of people run it. If we factory reset, will something try to force encryption again on first boot? I believe I read the way to get around that is to install Magisk after factory reset and before boot. But I wasn't sure how the Pro1 would behave if a factory reset is done or /data is formatted.
-
A nice surprise for your purposes, but I wonder what is causing it to not work properly? Have you tried the Pro1 in other 2.1-2.4 amp chargers?
-
:-) Thanks. I just wasn't sure if it would cause other problems with something that expects encryption. I am more worried about me being able to access my data if/when things go wrong than a bad actor accessing it with physical access to the phone. I have been using my current phone without encryption for the last 8 years. I use a pass code for locking it. That should keep out the casual bad guys. Someone can get around the pass code by doing a factory reset, but then they have wiped the data partition, so can't get at my data, in theory. They could use data recovery tools to pos

What bad things happen if we disable encryption?

Thanks for checking. On this laptop, I only have 1080p, and it is difficult to test. I guess I could load 2 windows side by side, but pressing start on each at the same time would be hard. If you *really* wanted to makes something special, you could put those into one split screen video with the resolution and fps stamped on each side. 😉 Did you try 1080p/60? Oh wait. I just saw the end part. 120 HFR and 120 HSR? So it can do 120 fps on 1080p, not just 60?
-
Oh, so we don't need any writing on them. We can just get them with blank keys and write on them with some marker that wears off after a few weeks? :-) I still have to cheat for numbers sometimes or to make sure my fingers are on the right keys sometimes, and definitely for some of the punctuation characters that aren't used as often.
-
HA! Oh, at first, I thought you meant the keys would move around based on your eyes. You mean the ink would move. Still tricky, but more doable than the keys moving. :-)

Has anyone compared the quality of video shot by the Pro1 at 4K 30 fps vs 1080p 30 fps, when displayed on a screen that can actually show 4K resolution? A friend of mine says that he seems to see lower quality on his Galaxy S9 when shooting at 4K/30 than he does with 1080p/30. And as for 1080p/60, I've read reports of Pixel 2 users who say that mode produces lower quality for some reason. Here is one example of someone who showed lower quality in 1080p/60 than 1080p/30: https://forums.androidcentral.com/google-pixel-2-pixel-2-xl/854224-pixel-2-xl-video-quality-1080p-60fps-shocking.

- Multiple people have reported that the phone doesn't come with a built-in Recovery - Can't boot into a custom recovery with fastboot, without flashing, by using: fastboot boot boot.img - Instructions for how to remove encryption so that TWRP and ADB can read the /data partition
-
Can any version of TWRP read the /data partition yet?
-
@tdm, during your development, did you find any way to disable file system encryption? I believe things I read earlier indicated that ADB and TWRP can't read the /data partition due to it being encrypted.
-
Interesting idea. I wonder how that would look at an angle though?
