Hi everyone, A small update for you today. As some of you know our US shipment from the first batch has still not reached our US customers due to strict US customs regulations. According to the latest, the first US batch is being returned to our Hong Kong hub, but it's currently being queued in a customs office's sorting facility. We know the stock will arrive back, but by the time that happens, our next batches from the factory will be ready for shipping. Consequently, we will be bumping up the numbers of units in the next batches to accommodate for the customers designated from the firs21 points

HDMI out being tested with the new firmware due to be pushed over the air shortly. Should work with any USB-C to HDMI adapter. * The blurring is because we were scrolling at the time. Image is crystal clear in person.10 points

While kashif's message may be over the top, and I'm glad that the devices are not outright fraud, the delays do have a habit of piling up frustrations in excited users. Last few times we were in this spot, we had weeks of radio silence from Fxtec. At least this time waxberry and such have given Erik something to calm us ravening hoardes :jkbutjustbarelycausewewantitnow:7 points

I feel so Sorry for @Erik as no emails go out to clients and this poor dude has to deal with us in the forum becoming more and more impatient! 🙂 I am putting my faith in you Mr!7 points

I'd like to reassure you the device has actually passed the Google certification, which it wouldn't have if any of the suspicions mentioned here were correct. Adups, in this scenario is simply the name of our OTA provider - http://www.adups.com/index.php?lang=en, not the virus conveniently named "com.adups.fota.MyApplication" and others, neither of which match the files used for running our OTA software. I believe that particular virus known as "com.adups.fota.MyApplication" was only named this way to mimic a legitimate system app. com.adups.fota is flagged perfectly clean on6 points

Frustration/anger is the natural healthy reaction to being told something is 'just around the corner' time and time again.6 points

It stopped being about the delays and started being about the service they provide a looong time ago. Gosh, why is it so hard for the fanboys to understand that with a product we are buying also all the other services like customer service, on-time delivery, warranty repairs, reliable information and everything else? If I'd provide to my customers a service like that I would get fired within a month! It's literally the worst service I've ever met. In real-life business-to-business relations this would be unacceptable. And yet, there still are voices saying over and over again "this is a s6 points

Well, I work with International Trade and can fully understand this. Even though it seems that they are experiencing every setback on the book... It is totally possible (and even probable if you don't have any previous experience). Add to that the current US Customs rules' hardening... That surely didn't help at all either.5 points

Taking longer than expected to deliver a product that hadn't even been manufactured yet when you ordered it is hardly treating anyone like cockroaches. Delays happen, and so will the arrival of your Pro1. Waiting is tough, but the glorious arrival will be awesome!5 points

There is not too many choices outside Google's updater, Adups and making your own I think (and before certificatio Google's updater is not an option, homebrew solution is not an easy thing). Adups is haunted by it's past but I trust Waxberry knows his stuff 100%, as evidenced by the phone as a whole :). Nevertheless it's good people asked, so that if people question it they find answers. As a sidenote, the allegations against Adups in that pdf I linked are relatively easy to verify. If people are still concerned by the time I have my phone I'm willing to investigate :-).4 points

Any information from those that have the Pro 1 on whether it's encrypted by default. I have always had my phones unencrypted and prefer that.4 points

This solidified my intention to install LineageOS. Glad to see that there's already progress for that.4 points

As OEM perspective, there is different way working with FOTA suppliers and there is an option paying for no tracking and tracing. Adups has changed their service since last year and there should not be things under the table. If anyone has found any we will definitely raise the issue to them as this is not what we intended and not as on agreement.4 points
-
This is not secret spyware. This is our OTA server partner. Also GDPR comply. Adups has been used by multiple OEMs and their record is reliable. I don't know why you called those spyware but if there is any problem you found or issues discovered, we can certainly resolve together with them. But if you think in that bad way simply because you don't know or don't heard about it that is not very responsible accusation and it did hurt our team. If you don't trust us DON'T buy it!4 points

Maybe netflix expects safetynet to pass or bootloader to be locked because they are worried about their DRM nonsense? About google certification, I haven't seen anyone tell it on the forums yet, F(x)tec QX1000 (aka Pro1) was added to Googles list of supported devices 🙂 : https://support.google.com/googleplay/answer/1727131?hl=en4 points

I am from Hong Kong. I guess there is no regulation from Hong Kong shipping to Hong Kong. I will see what time I can get the phone.😄4 points

HFR 120, normal speed and 0.25x OpenCamera https://www.amazon.com/clouddrive/share/GboU8LZM8oI32NfVcOvvloqDIrfa2jxWQ6tvSqqpR0W So the 0.25x really just means recording as 120fps and saving as 120fps / 4 = 30fps.... 😥 (And that should be the difference between 120 HFR and 120 HSR in qualcomm's app too)4 points

Spare the eggs. Have Eske record a high velocity clack of opening the slider instead, since he has multiple units to do so anyways4 points

I suppose it has, but some people have actually gotten their devices now, so obviously they are in production. It seems reasonable to suppose that some additional ones will drop very soon, and that is what is being said.4 points

Mine is encrypted, but I honestly do not recall if I accepted that at some point during the wizard, or it just was by default.3 points

My view on this is that production (factory) batch size ≠ shipment batch size. Makes sense because the larger quantities you ship, the greater the savings. If you consolidate, say a whole 20' container full of Pro1's, you will pay much less for shipping (from Shenzhen or wherever the factory is to the first warehouse - Hong Kong?) than if you keep sending small batches every day. Given the now-current deadline of Dec 20th, it does make great economical sense to consolidate as many (production) batches as possible and ship at the latest (or, to be on the safe side, second to latest, maybe3 points

I don't know how many Canadians bought a Pro1 like me. 😏 I asked yesterday about the situation for my order, their response doesn't tell if my order will actually be shipped directly from Hong Kong, but they are looking into this option. Maybe for South America they might choose this option also.3 points

Hi all, I've received a response from their support team. According to the person, to his/her knowledge it won't support these alerts initially, but will be added later on.3 points

Thank you for the quick replies and communication. I appreciate it!3 points

Awesome! Hopefully as new images become available they place them there too. It is really a little beyond belief to have a phone manufacturer who actually supports people monkeying with the software on the devices, at least to the point of giving them an official factory image for when things "go pear shaped." F(x)tec is the phone company I always hoped would exist one day!3 points

I'm not sure if USB Updates are in a different format that OTA but I did updates via recovery many times without any loss of userdata.3 points

Hope fxtec will replace that with official Google updater. I would really appreciate fxtec to release all updates as flashable image so ota can be turned off completely.3 points

It was stated before that any order before general availability (when they can ship in 1-3 1-2 days after order) is considered a pre-order, I am not 100% sure where but if I recall somewhere in this very (and very long) thread. (Edit) I have tracked down the post i remembered:3 points

I only tested a couple since 2011, but my vote goes to ActionLauncher, which (IMHO) does landscape how you would expect it to do. Very featureful, highly customizable.3 points

Ok I actually just received an email saying it's shipped :-} So I guess I'll be playing with that keyboard wielding phone before the pro13 points

I agree with you on this. Yes, it feels like the devices are "nearly here". But it's felt like that for a long time, and I get the impression that FXtec's intention is to foster this feeling: "hold on, they're nearly here!" But actually behind the scenes they're scrambling and they don't really have any idea when devices en masse will be ready. They have a dream that it'll be Christmas, but they can't be sure of that. Yes, a small number of devices have made it to customers, but what of the fabled second batch? It was supposed to have shipped last week (or was it the week before?) But as3 points

as posted elsewhere, you should be aware that you through adb can disable or logically uninstall individual apps including the GApps. see e.g. this3 points

FYI asking for a refund will result in all sorts of proposals, including "prioritizing" your order. At that point I just wasn't comfortable letting them hold onto my money anymore. Some of the shenanigans sound like cash flow issues. And given the small amount that was shipped and the deviation from the original estimate, I don't get how the factory hasn't built all the units so far. Like I get the shipping and logistics delays, but how hasn't the factory at least finished producing all the batches in the months that have passed? The phone really seems to be stellar in quality. I just noticed the following files in "/system" directory: /system/app/AdupsPrivacyPolicy /system/app/AdupsPrivacyPolicy/AdupsPrivacyPolicy.apk /system/app/AdupsPrivacyPolicy/oat /system/app/AdupsPrivacyPolicy/oat/arm64 /system/app/AdupsPrivacyPolicy/oat/arm64/AdupsPrivacyPolicy.odex /system/app/AdupsPrivacyPolicy/oat/arm64/AdupsPrivacyPolicy.vdex From articles like this it seems like this is for OTA updates but the company's app has a bad reputation for being spyware, sending personal data to China. From the article I linked I'm guessing this is the reason why it's being used instead o2 points

It has to be said that the affected phones (that I can find mention of) mostly targetted markets where there are no such laws like GDPR and whatever privacy laws the US has (as far as I know).2 points

Yes RX100 is REALLY a great little machine. I chose III over IV, as it has ever so slighter better low light, but poorer video stuff - that I never use.2 points

Is there any official update on second batch. Last update in the official thread has people from 2nd batch receiving phones by end of November. Did anyone from 2nd batch even receive stock allocation yet let alone delivery? My positive attitude is starting to shift and the Star Wars edition Note 10+ is starting to look good to me lol. Is Erik going to wait until last day of November to give us new word it will "ship by end of week" again? What's going on? Communication?2 points

I have tried at the least 30(!) different launchers, the majority does not support Landscape, and those that does, do so poorly - and that includes Nova. And the few that does have an acceptable (though not good) handling of landscape, does not support keyboard. And Nova also only partly supports keyboard navigation. See a bit on Nova in this thread: https://community.fxtec.com/topic/2481-the-pro1-coming-from-a-n900-the-good-the-bad-and-the-wtf/page/3/ Frankly I think it is a quite clever solution on 2:1, to logically divide the icon-grid into two blocks, and then keep those alm2 points

Your phone will be completely wiped, so you should recognize if there was some tampering in place.2 points

If it is not Android as such but ´merely´ the GApps that annoys you, then you might not be aware that you trough ADB can disable or logically uninstall them. see e.g. this.2 points

Haha, if the FBI wants your data, they'll get it whether the bootloader is locked or not LOL! My strategy is to not do things which would attract their attention. :P2 points

Here are more pictures. - the sleeve is a little bit wider and taller as the phone. It's not easy to put the the phone in it and out. Therefore, it definitely doesn't fall out by itself! - the protector fits really good to the screen -> full screen incl. edges (please ignore the bubbles 😂)2 points
