Yeah it seems broken here also. I must have broken it yesterday, possibly with my audio prop change. I'll get that fixed and the fingerprint data fixed for Monday.4 points

Found the issue with the fingerprint reader. The hardware and Android keep separate lists of registered fingerprints. When you wipe data, Android list is cleared but the hardware list is not. Eventually the hardware has all 5 slots filled and won't accept any more. So the new data only exists in memory and fails to write to persistent storage. I'll investigate more to see how this is supposed to work, and I should have a fix soon. In the meantime you can delete the fingerprint files under /persist to fix it.4 points

I am thinking of trying something like the following: to create the holder for the phone. Then I will use one of the real leather flip cases and glue the holder to it. :)3 points

Hi! I had an issue with installing magisk and got help in the discord, wanted to mention it here since it might help others. π I use Debian 9 Stretch stable, meaning that most of the time the software I install from the repos are older than the ones found on Ubuntu. Hoping that I could follow the guide on page 2 I stumbled on an error when flashing the magisk_patched.img file. fastboot flash boot magisk_patched.img target reported max download size of 536870912 bytes sending 'boota' (22080 KB)... Hi, Does anyone know of a key shortcut for the Apps drawer? (The one you get when you swipe downwards on the Home screen). Ideally I would hit a key and then start typing the name of the app to launch, without interacting with the touchscreen. Do I need to download a custom launcher to do this?2 points

I suspect something with the built vendor image is different than the stock vendor image. @Gigadoc2 mentioned a few posts back that he had to wipe after the switch, and I guess we now have two people that have confirmed it. I'm sorry for that, wiping data is usually not necessary -- even in the test stage. It should not be necessary again.2 points

I've noticed that if my keyboard stops responding, rather than rebooting, I just tap j and it starts working again. I have done so multiple times since getting my ProΒΉ on Tuesday and just thought I'd chime in.2 points

Here is a quick demo how you can access to app drawer with function + F(x)tec keys. PS. Ultimate rotation control app is able to force Pixl Drawer and Instagram to landscape.2 points

Well, once you get the case the way you like it, you can use it as a mould for implementing it using hard plastic, e.g. using HDPE2 points

Maybe I am misunderstanding. If you simply want to search your apps, hit the F(x) Tec Logo key from the home screen and start typing on the keyboard. I assume this works on stock launcher and isn't a Nova Prime thing, but apologies if I'm wrong.2 points

I swear I did that a couple times. It took a bit of waiting, but I got on the phone with tier 2 tech support and when we did this again, it works now. Not sure if they did anything on their end but I need to thank Nick from tech support for the help. Thanks to all of you as well!2 points

Yeah, the included protector is just something. I managed to apply it with just two micro bubbles outside of the working screen, took me like 30 minutes to apply it. I would suggest to wear rubber gloves if you are just about to apply yours, otherwise the fat from your fingers will ruin the edges where you are holding the protector while you are applying it.2 points

I have a pretty bad track record applying screen protectors and went without screen protector on the Moto Z for about 2.5 years. Nothing especially bad ever happened to the device and I tend to not drop them either. But hey, that thing still looks good as new. So I'll be living on the edge with my Pro1 as well. The soft edge that is. My phones tend to sit in a sleeve when not use. Scratches from daily use seem to be a non-issue as is and I don't trust a flimsy protection film to stop a real drop from doing its thing. I'm aware that it's still a bit riskier. Yes, I can see big difference between those two ports. Please, see the examples below. Viewfinder is upside down and freezing in low light situations in both ports but only PocoPhone port can make great pictures. https://drive.google.com/folderview?id=1KHziOXPurnz8K2_Y5G_HQ2bw-pWKI62B2 points

I almost requested a refund, just a few weeks ago. I had been waiting almost 1 year (since Feb 2019). Two main considerations I had at that time: # 1 -- Is this a scam? # 2 -- If not, how long might it be? We are lucky to have a lot of data now, that #1 should not be a concern anymore. Yes they messed up a bunch, bad service, huge delays. But at least it's not a scam, in the sense like, they're not just taking your money and running off to an island. No way, it's pretty clear at this level of fulfillment, that's not the case. (PHEW!) But yeah it's still a struggle, and I und2 points

I saw someone just tweeted they dropped theirs, landed on the screen. Chen tweeted back to send it in for warranty. So seems they're being quite flexible with warranty in general, as that's the kind of thing not usually covered under warranties in my experience... but I've had lots of experience with warranty following the device mfg date if you dont have original receipt or arent original owner, like western digital hard drives, compaq laptops (back in the day), my dustbuster... great companies often have a better policy than they're required to by law.2 points

I bought a Pro1. Wasn't thrilled with it. Had some "me" issues. Sold it. Person who bought it had technical issues (USB not working and other things). They sent it in for a replacement. They were specifically told (and there is even a thread for it somewhere) that warranties go with the phone - not the person.2 points

Nope, I won't send him a bill, he got the refund as requested. π It's working, so I'm fine. I'll also offer unbrick-services in my shop, probably free for users who bought from me and everyone else can get it reflashed for a little fee. Usually, it's not needed. If tdm finds the problem with the flasher and fixes that, everyone can do it himself π But in case someone isn't technically able to do that for some reason, I can help. Thanks goes to tdm for his awesome help and work π2 points

I worked with @EvilDragon today and we were able to revive the device. The xbl_a partition was corrupted. This should have been written with the factory tool, so I need to investigate why it did not get written properly.2 points

I switched from my Huawei P30 Pro after trying and configuring it for 5 days. Before making the jump I had to tackle the following issues: Find a premium book case that fits: using Snakehive Huawei P20 Pro case. Make sure it's fairly stable: not a single crash to boot since I got it. Find a way around minimum screen brightness being way too bright in the dark: using Lower Brightness Pro. Sync PIM from my Exchange server: used Gmail app. Sync SMS/MMS/Phone logs from my previous phone: used SMS Backup & Restore Pro. Make sure both my SIM cards are wor2 points

Using it as my daily driver. Works fine and whenever I have both hands free and going to type a long text, switching to landscape mode. Without 4G (I have an old contract here in Germany, which does not yet include 4G) the mobile networks keep switching and are really horrible. Manually switching is better, but cumbersome. Luckily I got another sim I am going to use for data. So this should be fixed. WhatsApp is horrible when using speakers (so are some other apps) - I hope there'll be a fix eith the crackling / doubled sounds. I assume it is because of speaker + microphone position,2 points

Got the phone a couple of days earlier than expected. I'm on T-Mobile prepaid. I have confirmed that the phone is indeed using LTE (using the LTE Discovery app) despite the "4G" in the menu bar. I too encountered the visual voicemail problem @jcz95 had, which is weird because it worked fine on my Pixel 2 XL (and the Google phone app on both devices are identical - same version). I downloaded T-Mo's VVM app instead to compensate (I am a Google Voice user anyway, so it's not a huge loss, but it's a bit annoying) As far as wi-fi calling, I see an odd phenomenon where I can searc1 point

@david I don't have the Pro1 yet, so I can't compare right now. I'm just trying to help providing data. If you know any website with 100+ elements, you could try if it makes a difference. Also, does ping work that way? Will all elements load one after each other or aren't the requests sent all at the same time and - given the sufficient bandwidth - received at the same time (+ping =20ms)? That would mean that 20ms more wouldn't make any difference since it applies only once. I was surfing in sattelite internet for a time and had a ping of 800-1500ms. You notice that with websites but you1 point

@bmccrary Can you adb in to recovery? You can edit build.prop and set adb on at boot to see the error in the log.1 point

@tdm Hey bud, I noticed you have a typo in your lineage os instructions on your site. The command fastboot flash boot_a lineage-16.0-pro1-test2-boot.img Shouldn't have the _ and should look like: fastboot flash boot lineage-16.0-pro1-test2-boot.img I'm embarrassed to admit it took me way too long to figure out what the heck was going on. Maybe your version is different, but if someone else has this issue, this is what I did and it worked.1 point

I'm under the impression the camera lens on the Pro1 is mounted upside down since before installing the modded Google Camera mentioned here I was using Camera FV5 and noticed images and video were vertically flipped. Google Camera seems to take videos with the correct orientation so I replaced FV5 with it. Night Sight works but as @jjarmasz mentioned it crashes in low-light. Additionally Slow Motion and Time Lapse crashes the app, and panoramas are completely useless since the viewfinder is again flipped vertically.1 point

To me the best description of what is going on is that the display is like a dolphin jumping out of the water, where a slider is a boat sailing on the surface. So maybe "Display jumper", "Display lifter", "Display tilter", "Display Flipper" I sort of like "Flipper" the best, as it both associates to how it flips the screen up and dolphins. But let us see if some can come up with a better word! Also remember that some are pronouncing "Pro1" as "Prawn", and prawns jumps too, so maybe some wise head can use that to find a good word? Add: Actually "Keyboard slider1 point

Guys, I just registered the part of my hand near the reader (at the base of my index finger) as a new "fingerprint", and now all I have to do to unlock my phone is hold it. I was initially confused by the placement of the fingerprint reader as well, but I think this may end up being an even better placement than most other fingerprint reader placements. I'll have to see over the next few days how it goes, but it at least has potential.1 point

The second question is missing some crucial answer options. I'm simply not using it as a daily driver because of all the bugs and design flaws.1 point

I am using my as my daily driver, but there are definitely challenges, at least some of which I hope will get better over time: 1. curved screen leading to lots of spurious edge touches - this has turned into the biggest ongoing annoyance. I'm trying to learn different ways of holding the phone, but that also leads me to worries of dropping the phone as it is heavy and if I'm trying to avoid the edges I can't grip it as securely. 2. the fingerprint reader constantly misfiring as a handle the phone. Here's hoping for the "reader is off when the screen is off" feature request. 3.1 point

It didnt disable them, you are using the one with dead keys on first two levels. Switch to the layout with altgr dead keys, then everything will behave normal. The way I read the last post in that git thread, from 7 days ago, implies the us-intl with alt-gr dead keys is already the default, but it seems its not? Either way doing it following kabouik's method works until its fully resolved. Explanation of dead-keys and difference between the two us-intl layouts. Tempted to vote "Other - I didn't get mine yet..." but considering the customs mess will hopefully be sorted out during this week and knowing I can't change my vote... As for what I plan to do is to mess with it at least a few days before I try to use it as a daily driver. Got a bunch of stuff I want to experiment with first, so having an always usable phone on the side still will be important. Apart from that, knowing all the oddities, I'm not aware of what would be stopping me right now. Unless it arrives in a broken state or something.1 point
