This morning my phone signal went dead. I went to the phone menu (*#*#4636#*#*) and all the Volte and Voice over Wifi switches were turned off. This is the second time this has happened to me since December, so the good news is it doesn't happen often. Thankfully, because I have no clue as to why. But I just wanted to make folks aware this is a possibility. If you suddenly lose signal on Verizon, check the phone menu.

Am I holding it wrong? 😁

A couple of days ago my Pro1 started seriously overheating and draining its battery. Rebooting didn't help. After investigation I noticed it was constantly using network bandwidth both upload and download. Settings battery usage was reporting Gmail as being most greedy. Network monitoring tools were in fact showing some Google Service was responsible for that traffic. Turning off auto-sync in Gmail fixed the issue. I have 2 Gmail accounts currently configured on my Pro1 and don't see the issue.

I am not sure if that information is useful at all, but I recently had the Google Photo app causing overheating and battery drain on my Priv. So maybe there currently is some problem with synchronisation of Google Apps in general?

Haven't yet received the phone but I'll be using Kiwi Browser since it has support for desktop extensions. Having uMatrix on your phone really is helpful. And you know what? You can easily export the filters from your PC and import it on the phone. The only downside is the missing synchronisation since google blocked any chromium apps from their automatic synchronisation. I'll do it manually every now and then to have the full list of bookmarks. Edit: Adblock should work too but I didn't really need it with uMatrix yet since it already blocks ads anyways.

Can we get a website similar to what Google gives for its hardware binaries and firmware images, like so? https://developers.google.com/android/drivers It would make it way easier to support the community and the development of alternate ROMs, or to roll your own without having to: Is there a walkthrough for pulling binaries off a device? What is the procedure to factory restore a device if you brick it when making a ROM?

For what it's worth, I haven't noticed any similar issue, but only use one gmail account. I think if this was a common issue, google would be on top of it. So it's probably a you issue. But on previous device I used to use K-9 for years and was always happy with it....

You're right. But are they needed? With Lineage you can use the AOSP layouts..... But maybe they are. I see he made them for Photon Q and I always thought the asanti layouts provided with CM/LOS were good enough, so what do I know.... I don't type other languages....

But if you buy @Anssi Hannula some beer, I'll bet it will suddenly work correctly on LOS too. :)

I'd recommend trying this from the shell to see what has changed in the last N days. You'll have to install Magisk again. Change "-1" to "-2" "-3" etc to go back more than 1 day.

It is definitely persistent so I've contacted support, they will be sending out a replacement screen with instructions on how to replace it. I had the option of sending it the phone off to a centre in London but decided I'd give it a go myself instead (I like a little tinkering). And don't use finqwerty layouts with lineage, they're intended for stock and would have to be modified for Lineage which handles sym, slantarrows, and Fx differently.

It is intended to work that way. To be close to the same as in pc keyboard. So you should mostly forget the yellow markings on the keyboard and use shift+number shortcuts as they are on your pc. Yes, to be clear, priority or not, I am simply requesting that LOS be able to do what stock can do. Verizon works on stock using LTE only. It allows the VoLTE and Voice over Wifi switches to be turned on, which appears to be all that is needed for Verizon to work. The user still has to use the mule workaround to get a SIM provisioned for VoLTE, but that's on the user. It works in stock.

I am also a developer of both hardware and software and I would not say that creating a phone from scratch is easy. You are right about the SoC itself does a lot of things but you should follow several considerations, select appropriate components and routing, so you have to have appropriate skills and experiences. Try one S10 launcher and their camera app one S10 camera. the launcher works well in both landscape and portrait, customisable app draw, transition effects, change the font in the draw, you can buy the full version, I don't think it's worth it unless you want to create folders in your app draw. Camera app is ok don't really use my phone for taking professional/ high quality pics. I installed because it worked and the same people made the launcher.

It is certainly a big leap between an Iphone and a Pro1. Nice that some variety exists now, so each can find what suit them the best. I for one hope I never have to go back to Ios. Though my magnetically attached landscape&portrait keyboard solution for it worked reasonable well. See here for more images. Don't forget to deselect the keyboard profile and hide the notification to set it, the keyboard will then operate as intended. This is a nuisance bug.

I have added a new lights HAL to the patched vendor.img that forces the keyboard backlight to follow the display backlight state. Whenever the screen is on, the keyboard backlight is on as well. This isn't ideal, but it works well enough that I felt it was worth an update. I also updated the kcm to include VaZso's patch, so shift/fn + arrow keys will send PGUP/PGDOWN/HOME/END, and fn + backspace sends BACK while fn + Del sends FORWARD.
