  1. Thanks, that was it. The program is called Wireless Updates. I cleared the storage and cache. After a reboot everything was ok.

  3. That's a great situation, where you can try it and still resort to them if needed. Any and all pictures you can provide would be great. In particular, both sides of the battery (showing any numbers/letters/codes), a close up of the USB port, and close ups of both sides of the flat screen cable and connectors that both ends fit into on the screen side and non-screen half of the phone would be great! These are all parts that may wear our more quickly than other parts in time, hence the focus on those. Good luck with your patient revival process!

  4. On a theoretical basis, they could include the display signal (+ sound) transmission into the mechanism itself. So you'd have around 16 parallel data lines built into the metallic hinge itself. Internally it wouldn't be a problem, externally there should be ways to extend the mechanism with a short cable. Or maybe you just include contact pins on both ends? Of course you'd need to make sure that there will be contact all the time but I'd compare it to a hdmi slot. It COULD work. Sure it would be difficult to achieve. This also brings me to another potential problem: what about dust a

  5. Good recommendation. I just gave this game a try, it's pretty fun, and yep you can turn the onscreen "Button Opacity" to 0% and just use keyboard, with a little remapping its great! A sidenote to anyone who decides to try this game, you can't just install the apk, gotta follow the install directions on the site to install the game-data manually.

  10. I got a new case with the post this morning, that has an even better fit than the previous ones. And with strengthened corners too, also note that the lower parts of the sides has matted edges.

  11. Sorry, too hastily written should have been "I don't....", not at all meant as a suggestion that others should not, I just only need a corner of your toolbox.

  12. As I replied to the OP here: highly recommend this phone, but not to everyone... Sure this phone does not fit anyone. Show me a single thing that does, being electronic or anything else. Well except perhaps pure fresh water for drinking... And there is NO device out there (exist or announced planned) that come even close to being nearer what I would wish for. That is not to say that it is perfect. And I can easily find individual things that I would prefer from other devices. The main issue for me was the placement of the fingerprint reader, but when put in a flip case, that disapp

  13. Yes, those that got the 20200304 (on Oct. security patch level) has problems, those that got the 20200306 (On Sep.) does not. I hope it wont be long before we get a new update uniting the two, on a newer security level.

  14. My local phone guy wouldn't touch it because he had no idea what it was. Fair. I let it dry, been checking once a week or so, I've accepted it's not coming back to life. I contacted f(x)tec, who responded very promptly given the current state of the world, and offered a very generous discount under their service replacement policy. I was not expecting that at all, as they really have no responsibility for this mishap beyond releasing a phone that they transparently stated had no waterproofing. I asked if trying to service it would void that offer, and they replied as long as I can put it

  15. Something was broken for early adopters of that OTA, it was fixed later on. I'm one of the unlucky few to run the broken one. Good to know it runs on yours then. Hope they push a new OTA soon.

  21. they pulled my version of the keyboard driver, the issue should be well and truely gone along with randomly missing keys and now multiple simultaneous keys should work too 🙂

  22. I can and would recommend this to people who want this phone and are willing to put in a bit of effort to customise it their way. Of course it should be great out of the box, but it isn't and if you really want this keyboard phone from this start-up company, you're going to need to reset your expectations and budge a little more than you would usually have to for any of the larger companies. Still I think one of the few phones out there that justifies the price tag.

  23. @Khalid I understand and agree with many of your feelings here. It's frustrating, especially after such a long wait, to have so many things get in the way of usability. I hope it gets better for you. But, if not, FWIW you can probably sell with ease (maybe for profit, see thread on used prices I've been watching), these clackers are in high demand right now. I do still struggle with my own Pro1 (like you), but it's actually really common for quality control to be on par with what you see here. In fact, I'm impressed FxTec has created something this stable and reliable. Here are some issue

  24. Honestly, I just think you wanted to vent. So it's alright. While the phone indeed does have some mistakes, most of them can be worked around and if you want a proper phone with a keyboard - the pro1 is currently as good as it gets (I still have my BB Priv, but due to a hardware lock I cannot root it and so I'd have to use an OS, which is heavily outdated). I also paid about 720€ and while some errors do annoy me a bit, I use this phone as my daily driver and it works as expected. While venting is okay, you don't even seem to be interested in fixing the issues you have with the phone

  25. First, I'll say that if you find these points of pain too much for you, you of course should move to whatever makes you happier. However, I take issue with referring to others as apologists because we have found work arounds that make us happy with this phone. Personally, I am very happy with this phone and consider it the best phone I have ever used. New people who read these threads need to understand that for every person who says they are fed up, there are many more who are having a very different experience. In the future, I suggest you don't set expectations so high for a new tech

  26. Sorry that the phone didn't work out for you. Certainly there are different ideas about what hardware looks and functions best. But I must admit the software is currently a weak spot. I'm going to respond to the software issues. Please keep in mind that I am not employed by FxTec, I'm just a developer who was given a device to get LineageOS running on it. Further, I'm not really a "keyboard phone" type, this is my first keyboard phone (but my wife used to love her Relay 4G, which is why I was the Cyanogen dev for that device for a while). I have gotten to know Chen and a few other
