  1. Poco M3 = $199,- at max. Pro1x = $ 649,- or something like that. So you pay 350,- extra for a keyboard, AMOLED and camera. And that, is the point. Not so much performance. For the record, I would still buy the Pro1x. But, I would also be pissed and angry as Hell. And I would also be venting that anger here or anywhere else for that matter. So, I understand the comments. As long as you all realize, this is the only way FxTec can survive the Pro1x. Otherwise they surely would have chosen a 'better SoC'. So all the bashing and arguing aside, this is what we'll have to deal with if any of u

I don't look at many IGG projects, but having seen exactly the same thing on the Astro Slide project, I almost wonder if the behavior isn't built algorithmically into the IGG platform, maybe based on a few parameters the owner of the project sets. Shrug I don't consider it bad behavior, I consider it marketing. Though I suppose one could argue it's tomayto/tomahto πŸ˜„

  4. No clue if Fx reads these! But i saw you wrote this responce in the comments. "It was the supplier, not necessarily Qualcomm as Qualcomm has many different suppliers which in turn work with our custom designs for the logic board. Together with our manufacturing partners, we hold our previous Snapdragon 835 supplier accountable, and we have already started legal proceedings in China. However, it is essential to note that the rather lengthy legal process's outcome will not affect the fact that we can no longer get our previously designed Snapdragon 835 chipset." And thats what i would want

  7. So what? Miffed because you're not one of the exclusive five anymore, or one of the exclusive one thousand or whatever the original number of devices was they might have had planned to sell through the campaign? Which they very probably kept increasing slowly as they were led to believe they could still get the PCBs with the SD 835? What would you expect, that they throw away an option to sell more phones just because a few people might get somehow offended by it? Sorry, but I really don't get it.

But if I just need a screen assembly and don't want a battery I shouldn't have to pay for that too. Anyway... I'll keep you guys posted about what I do.

  9. Indeed, it would be anyone's guess. Mine would be that they simply would have continued in batches as long as demand and supply lasted. The second then fell short quicker than expected. Indeed, we do not know when the cheating started, it could well be that was what prevented the expected final batch of pending Pro1's before the Pro1X from being manufactured. And if the crooks just told it as yet another Corona delay and took orders for the Pro1X too, before FxTex found out they were being cheated, that would match what we have seen. - Just guessing of course.

  11. The situation is basically the same than previously. Pro1 price was about 700$ and you were able to buy SD730G devices about +300$ (like Mi 10 Note). You always have to pay some extra for the integrated keyboard. I am willing to pay that extra. Also, keep in mind that many sites have reviewed Poco M3 4/64Gb. If 6/128Gb unit was reviewed the performance was little bit better (also UFS 2.1 compared to UFS 2.0). 4Gb is quite little now days but 6Gb is OK and 8Gb good for everything.

  12. Yes, I had indeed many problems with LOS 16 and focusing problems, especially in low light scenarios. I installed Open Camera, went to the advanced settings (I don't remember where you set it up) and used the manual focus for low light scenarios. I thought the fault was the hardware. Autofocus is still slow in low light, but definitely improved. But in very low light when it can't focus I'll still use the manual focus.

  13. Afterwards, everyone's wiser. Especially external commentators who didn't have to do the original considering in the first place. When Fxtec presented the Pro1, they explained very well why they chose the SD 835, and while some would have liked an even better SoC, it was never an option. Back then, they simply couldn't get a better SoC for the small quantities they were about to produce, let alone for an acceptable price. It's as simple as that, and the fact that it was "only" an 835 for the Pro1 and that it is "only" a 662 for future Pro1 X batches is part of the price we have to pay to get a

From my own experience I can not recommend chinese glue like B7000 etc. Better is use transparent pattex gel glue...only disadvantage is long time waiting for hardening - approx 2hours fixed-5hours fully fixed. ...and yess $250 for display unit is crazy price!!! It is same price as for new original (and always working) display for S10 samsung.

  15. Hello! I've been following these discussions for a while, but finally signed up. I have a Z3 that's paid off in August, and the Pro1 will be my next phone. Really wanted the keyboard Mod, but I think having a full-time keyboard phone is a better solution. I miss my HTC Pro 2 running XDAndroid back in the day. As far as the SoC change, My Z3 has an 835, and my son's Z4 has a 675 (which is similar to the 662 in performance). For the way we use our phones, I've never seen any disadvantage to the Z4. The Z4 is generally faster at loading apps, such as Pokemon Go. Also, I'm hopi

So, we are left with 2 major choices with which F(x)tec has already tried to choose from. I wish we were consulted as a community first but I guess, when under stress, people make mistakes. Specially such newcomers into this business. Redesign of PROΒΉ (possibly into PROΒ²) and use a much more recent SoC as powerful or more powerful than SD 835 (9 months delay) Slight redesign of PROΒΉ to acco

  21. I'm not sure it have been told if they are going to produce any to stock, or only the ones perked for on IGG or pre-ordered on the homepage. I would not be surprised if they are going for a model collecting enough pre-orders, before making any following batch. / but that is my personal guess only of course (got no inside knowledge on the topic). My memory isn't really improving over the years, but I seem to remember that Fxtec did announce in their IndieGogo campaign that the Pro1 X was as an IndieGogo-only item, not to be sold anymore when the campaign was over and all devices manuf

I have checked few Poco M3 reviews (SD662, FullHD+ screen, 4/64Gb or 6/128Gb) and the performance is sufficient for everyday tasks. - https://www.notebookcheck.net/Xiaomi-Poco-M3-Smartphone-Review-The-150-Euro-smartphone.515467.0.html - https://www.androidauthority.com/poco-m3-review-1198097/

  24. What do you think, I want to use the FX Pro 1X for Gmail, Untis, moodle, whats up, facebook and Google News. Would I even notice the difference to the slower 662? I am using a 2015 BB Priv with the old 808, which is pretty slow meanwhile. But it has only 3 GB RAM and I am hoping, that the 8 GB of the Sapphire blue Pro 1X will make it so much faster. Am I wrong? Will the 662 be so a bad SOC? πŸ˜•

  25. I Signed up in the last 14 days. And i dont really blame Fx tech for this bad stuff happens. But I dont think this was communicated in the right way. As soon as they knew there was a problem i think this should have been communicated and they are looking for other options, at least i would have waited then! So did request a refund mostly for circumstances. But i dont see them as dishonest. I wrote it on the IGG as well, that i will likely still get the phone, just think i rather get it off Fx when its ready!

  26. From what I've been reading about the SoCs, compute won't be affected as much, it's the GPU performance that will take the most hit. And for reference... even the $100 Moto G fast uses a 665 which is a speed bumped version of this, lol. F(x)tec really got cheated out on this, but they are part to blame. They took the risk of using an older SoC, discontinuation and stock out should have been considered when planning the Pro1-X.

  29. Oh indeed, already bought a few as spares on AliExpress to have in stock should I ever need them. My point was the full assembly might not be that unreasonable priced, as the tag isolated could indicate. What the price for a qualified technician to swap a display would be would off course vary around the world, but here in Denmark I highly doubt I could have someone else do the swap for less than $100+shipping, So for those without the skills (or a skilled friend) the whole assembly could easily be an attractive alternative with lower risk. Not saying that anyone should do one

  30. I bet the number produced for the S10, have at the least three zeroes extra, so not unexpected that they can do it cheaper... Anyway the $219 offer it is a bit more than the display. Also frame, narcissistic camera, sensors, pcb and not the least assembly, it all adds up. And the offer includes a battery too. So sure it is a lot of money to shell out if a display breaks, but I doubt they have a high profit margin on them.

  31. And I'm sure 835 will never get Android 11 πŸ™ƒ. We'll be lucky if we ever get 10. LoS is ok, but the kernel is still 9. These are clearly the tradeoffs for the 'new and improved' Pro1x. And, if they make any effort to continue backing by XDA, LoS support for a 662 Pro1 would be the least of my worries 😌.

  33. As always, the answers aren't here in a user forum, but I'm pretty confident that FxTec is going to do everything needed to transition the ports to the new SOC requirements. I think the Devs, who partially jumped into this because of their own interest in having a good keyboard phone available, will too. Maybe a few new prototypes will be passed around. I am sure this will get done given 7+ months to do it. However, if you want an answer, you will have to email FxTec.

  35. There are some small advantages. The perhaps most obvious were already mentioned by Fxtec, even lower battery consumption and support for newer, substantially better cameras (one of which will be be in the phone, too). And there are others, like better hardware video decoding (I think there are two more hardware-supported formats, one of them being H.265).

  36. Without being an expert, I get that their partner manufacturing the PCB relies on an upstream supplier who cannot deliver the 835 anymore, but there is a licence for the 662 instead. Other PCP manufacturers could still purchase the 835 (from their different upstreams). However Fxtec cannot switch, as they do not own the PCB blueprints. Any new PCB supplier would have to re-design the board from scratch according to Fxtec specs, which they cannot afford.

  38. They should continue to do pro1x campaign, so they can make enough money to keep their operation running. But they should also start the campaign for pro2 with a vastly better SOC. That way the campaigns can run concurrently; I'll happily buy both devices. That way the pro1x will come this year and the pro2 will come early next year. I'm sure they took their time and considered all their options before deciding on the 662. They took their time putting out this update and they're fully aware of the ramifications of their decision. They didn't put it up to a community vote, cause the never

  40. For me it was clear right from the beginning in 2019, even though the original Pro1 already seemed a good offer at the time (and still seems one today, if you ask me), that it couldn't have been anything but a first shot at a great keyboard phone that would bring us over the waiting time until they have their refined and upgraded Pro2 ready πŸ˜‰

  42. Yes, I need that certification. I don't buy a $700 phone just so that I have to carry yet another phone for the important things like communicating with my health insurance. By the way, I voted "Other option", but I really meant "5 months but worse SoC" – it may sound worse, but if someone doesn't buy the Pro1 as a gaming device they won't even notice. I don't care for benchmark figures on paper. I've been using a Moto Z3 Play for 1Β½ years. It has a SD 636 which is slightly slower than than the 662, both in CPU and GPU, and it's been more than enough for anything I'll do in the fore

  43. The whole idea of the product is violated by downgrade! I will wait the required time to make it happened with SD835 to save necessary functionality for a well-build clever device suited its design target. The device capable of running linux is the main go to. Do not stick with Android limitations. Connection of external display is a very important feature and with SD662 it goes to waste.

  44. I can only answer to the keyboard part. FinQwerty is only meant for Stock and doesn't properly work with LineageOS, so you can uninstall it right away. The setting you have to look for is in System>Tasten>(scroll all the way down to Extras) Weitere Tasten>Layout. There you can select QWERTZ and that adjusts the software to fit the physical layout. ? also works that way.

  45. It won't be outdated, on the contrary, it is a much more recent chip. It's just that now it isn't even a "former high-end" chip, it has been a "midrange" chip right from the start. That said, I've searched the net for benchmarks, and I don't expect to even notice the difference in anything I expect to do with it. Just as the 835, or so it has been reported in reviews, was hardly slower in real-world applications than a current high-end chip like the 865, either. I guess that highly demanding graphics applications (i.e. games) might be the most likely candidates for noticing a differ

  46. I appreciate you guys trying to be optimistic, but I must say this news scares me quite a bit. Having to downgrade to an inferior SoC is a devastating blow. So much development work (and time!) will be spent for nothing but getting an even more outdated phone even later onto the market. That is brutal. Even as an enthusiastic Pro1 owner, I must admit that I can understand anyone who decides to draw back from the project at this point. Let me stress that I think Fxtec are a good people. They are not trying to betray us. They themselves obviously believed they would get those boards.
