The camera in it self is fine I think, but the software/driver can clearly be improved. The Camera2 API is implemented (though not flawless), opening for a range of third party apps, So you can use an app like "Open Camera", but here the HDR is not currently working well (the app does HDR fine elsewhere)

Well what matters (as I understand it) is the fraction within each country, so if a large fraction in your country paid even earlier than you, they are the lucky ones. Bought one (£15) that arived today, and it seems to do HDMI just fine, both landscape and portrait. The icons looks a bit overwhelming in landscape on a 43" monitor though 😂 In landscape it Letterboxes on my current 16:9 screen, but in portrait I get gigantic side borders. Ending as 36% black + 28% display + 36 black. But in Landscape it is just fine with 5½% black + 89% display + 5½%. Though the monitor used might offer PIP or various split-modes, that could be useful. PIP could make a lot of sense on a large monitor. Trying a restart, The display is broadcasted before

Indeed. If that trend holds I guess I'm not the only one using qwertY with qwertZ hardware to avoid the shifted letters. It should be remembered that they still are not active on the wrong side of the Atlantic yet, so we should wait at the least 24h before we can expect more representative numbers. And actually I would expect an over-representation in Europe, as many languages are Latin based but have additional national letters usually on keys to the right of the A-Z letter block

Awesome job! On the buttons, I commonly see cases where the buttons are covered BUT the material is thinned around the 'block' covering the button. Actually it could be interesting if there were set up some (preferably multilateral) agency that could give us something in between closed source and open source. Some sort of "Verified source", that would allow companies to keep their trade secrets close, but yet have independent parties verifying that the code is benign, and does what is described only, ....But now I'm moving the thread off topic.

Despite the less than 1000 downloads in the Android Market, it sure looks interesting. Is there a setting to NOT put the icons as far out of reach as possible? The default is certainly not one-hand friendly in portrait. (Listing a group book-style from top left) It took me some guesses before I found out that a long tap on any category tab is the way to add a new category or widget (the help is not quite up to date here)

Though always a good idea to vote for people like that, promoting that to a "solution" is a bit on the optimistic side IMHO. But at the least it can remove the option of doing stuff like that legally. A part of the solution is open source, so all the shady stuff can be detected, as is needed before it can be avoided.

We have had this spread in various threads, but perhaps it would be nice to get it gathered. If you ask me none really work super well. The build in has its benefits, but are quite simple. The big ones like Nova, does not really work well with Landscape nor keyboards. Usable, but not really good. As far as what I know the only relevant we got recently is this but that was quite pessimistic it seems only expecting stock assigned by the end of next week, and it seems that at the least a fair portion of those have already been emailed today. Earlier batches via warehouse took about two weeks from stock assigned to it arrived on the doorsteps in Europe. You can see some examples browsing in this, Mine took 15 days. Four days between tracking code and delivery to DK.

No no, you need the micro air pockets in your floors not walls... 😇🤣 The problem I see with a case for the top is that the 'arms' at the sides are going to be either so thick that they will be annoying, or so thin they could be flapsy and will be vulnerable, Of course if we combine it with some software reducing the active display area (display and touch), then the sides can be made more sturdy. But a transparent silicone 'top' can follow the edge screen smoothly. But yes it obviously has its drawbacks too.

Just tried to take the silicone shell of the Pre-prod unit and put it on the screen part. It works flawlessly! The grip is not good, and can't work well with another shell, but the touch works just fine! so 1mm silicone is NOT an issue, So you might even consider going for that as the primary choice!

Tape is definitely an option but it tends to act badly with time and micro-movements when taking it in and out of the pocket. But It could easily become a habit to change a few strips of thin double adhesive tape every one or two month. There is also the possibility of a clear full covering silicone top!! Like in the double-case @lameboyadvance linked above. A more drastic approach, but might be quite a lot easier to get a good grip. And the Pro1 has a very touch sensitive screen, so I think it would work through thin silicone too.

Being a bit evil I would say they are charging them too fast, or charging while hot. Both are great ways to kill batteries and get poor stamina on your device..... My old BB Priv can still last VERY long on a charge. Is currently testing, it is 'down' to 56% left after 10 days idle with WiFi On (no sim though)

Ah I see. If you rely on straight edges being held by the stretch and friction, I think the conic shape might trick you. That is preventing all the hard cases and hard cases with soft inner shell i tried in staying on. Of course they ALSO have the problem that the bottom is stiff, and that helps pulling them off I believe the reason why the soft TPU and Silicon cases for Huawei P20 Pro and Samsung Note 7 fit so well is because they are made for a rounded shape so the top of the shell is going inwards, and this just catches the phased edge of the lower part.
