  1. I am pleased to announce a new member of the Pro1 ROM family: "Ungoogled Stock". What is it? This is the stock ROM as built from the BSP directly from IdeaLTE with the following changes, and only these changes: Removed AdUps OTA update code. Removed GMS (Google Apps). Where is it? The current version is: http://files.nwwn.com/android/pro1/QX1000-user-nogms-noadups-20191208.zip MD5: 01c90007a843328b869bb294c8f88330 SHA1: 3aff440c50ec2464437c5698bc1c7740ed827c34 Source synced to BSP as of Nov 29, 2019. How do I flash it

  2. I just had to create an account to chime in as a voice of reason here, because there is some seriously toxic entitlement going on in this thread. I, as I'm sure pretty much everyone else who actually desires this device, have been waiting for something like this for 10+ years now. Living through this dumbslab revolution has been awful, and while I haven't been as dedicated as some people here have in their efforts to keep the keyboard alive, I cannot get used to touchscreens and never will. Production issues happen. I was most recently employed with a company that did a lot of smartp

  3. The aim is to ship the stock to our EU and US (if we re-establish a US warehouse by then) warehouses, or directly to customers before the Chinese New Year, as after that both the factory and the 1st logistics hub in HK will be off for a while. The Chinese New Year starts on the 25th of January, so some of you will have their devices before the end of January. Others, perhaps those in Europe, will have their stock assignment before the end of January only, and delivery by 1-3 February, at least to my projection.

  4. Mid-February, as the current pre-orders will ship by the end of this month.

  8. I am well aware :). Chen is in the factory right now, and he expects them to produce all of the pre-orders before the Chinese New Year. The meant to be "big batch" has already been produced, but this time we'll be shipping all of the pre-orders together, not parts of them. Small batches keep our customers happy, but they take longer to get around as it would mean allocating more workforce to the delivery side, multiple times, while right now the priority is to produce all of the pre-orders and ship them all at once. Therefore, the advised deadline "by the end of January" is still very much in

  9. @silversolver Thanks for the welcome, and the kind words! I'll admit I may have seemed a bit harsh in my post, and I was sure it's all been said before, but I just felt like trying to balance things out a bit, heh. Plus, my professional experience in a related industry lends a bit of weight to my words, I think. I've spent a lot of time around the xda community, and it seems most people who are into Android tend to be fair minded folk. On that note, I am a bit of an old hand by now when it comes to Android and its use and specifically with customizing ROMs and various other OS-level aspec

  10. @ttodd It sounds like you asked them to do something their systems cannot do, and then you got upset that they couldn't accommodate your absurd request. Yes, there is money on the line here, but frankly, if losing 650 shekels would break you, you shouldn't have spent it on a phone in the first place. Just because F(x)tec is bad at communication and has had logistical issues with their all-new everything does not make them dishonest. You are a bully who calls yourself wise, but in reality you are paranoid, closed-minded, selfish, arrogant, and not even factually accurate most of the time. That

  12. It continues to amaze me how much time people seem to have on their hands around this thread. I actually don't fault Fxtec for the radio silence; every time they give the slightest hint of info, the wolves come lurking. Maybe try your hand at designing and manufacturing yourselves, then come back and play.

  13. Unfortunately, no. The BSP is proprietary. FxTec has shared the BSP code with a few developers, but it is not generally available. This is one of the reasons that Lineage exists. And please don't get upset at FxTec and IdeaLTE. The bulk of the BSP is licensed to OEMs by Qualcomm. It is only through the generosity and trust in developers that FxTec has made the BSP available to developers at all. They did not need to do this and, in fact, are not really supposed to do it. Also note FxTec and IdeaLTE could release their device code if they chose, but it wouldn't do much good w

  14. A new feature request. Disable Fingerprint Sensor when Display Off This would mean you'd have to push power button before using fingerprint sensor. This could be a toggle in case some people prefer current implementation, but in my experience it gets triggered so often that it's rarely useful as is.

Fxtec them-self didn't meet a single deadline they setted themself, and they are the one with the more up to date data. I have cancelled my order mid November and i'm waiting of official same day shipping before trying again. If you don't need your money, and are OK waiting until it arrive (i should be before April, but be ready to wait until July just in case), you are free to Order now But else, please don't. This forum really don't need another poor guy waiting patie

  17. Well, I'll start this off with a recent discovery I made, and thankfully I haven't seen anyone mention it here yet, but in case anyone else out there uses this app, I wanted to share the news: Speedtest by Ookla does some concerning things when you're connected to wifi networks which severely impacts battery life on multiple devices I own. I didn't care to investigate it to the level of using Wireshark, but suffice to say, you're better off not having that app installed period. So, with that out of the way, I'll second previous mentions of GSam and 3C as being pretty essential apps, and I

LOS is keeping my Droid 4 daily driver almost relevant. πŸ˜‰@tdm has been building LOS for Clack, so you two definitely should connect. I believe he has a device, but may be misremembering. It would be easier if you had one. πŸ˜‰ In all sincerity though, are you hesitating about buying this particular device, or simply not ready to purchase another device at all? As to your post being harsh.....it was pointed where necessary, but appropriate and generally very positive, and I feel it met a need.

  19. Fair enough, but well within reasonable rounding to 10 years. I had the slightly older model, in fact, the i927 Captivate Glide. Still do, in fact, though it sadly hasn't been usable since 2015, for me. I managed to put one of the last builds of CyanogenMod on it and got a little bit longer life out of it, but when you can't even get Google Maps to work properly on the go, you can't really call that functional anymore.

  22. Just a quick update... I had two weeks off for the holidays and I am back this week. I've experimented with building a vendor image but that looks like it will take a fair amount of time. So next I looked at a method of overlaying changes over the vendor files instead of building the entire vendor image. This is easier and significantly reduces the amount of data transfer (both from github to me and from my website to you) so I will probably continue down that path for the official Lineage release. But for now, I'm pretty tired of playing with vendor files

  23. Well...... yes but not exactly. Lineage is built on the open source portion of Android (AOSP) and the portions of the Qualcomm code that are released as open source (the CodeAurora project, or CAF). The portions that Qualcomm does not release as open source are taken as binary blobs from the stock firmware and integrated into the Lineage build to make a complete package. Because this is a sort of legal gray area, these blobs are kept strictly partitioned from the Lineage project and made available under the github account TheMuppets (really!) The portions t

  26. I hate to be that guy, but I'd advice to not get too excited about shipping before CNY. There's a record here of slipping dates, and I don't really see a reason to believe this time will be different. Just that this time a slippage would definitely mean an added week or whatever people don't work during CNY.

  34. Well - I wouldn't have done it if it wasn't possible, obviously. Besides: I haven't waited that long for a new keyboard phone. Up until mid-last-year I used my Priv. I really haven't ever found anyone in a forum so vold saying that if I hadn't bought a device from a reseller, I would be supporting the company more... I still bought the pro1 at nearly full price and certainly around 70+ Euro more than pre-orderers have paid. So if FxTec doesn't treat me like someone, who pre-ordered, why should I wait like one? Which is why I decided to jump ships (but still get their device).

  35. Well, it's more that I find myself in a bit of a... transitional phase, work-wise, at the moment πŸ˜› let's just say I have nothing kind to say about office politics, and have learned my lesson to steer clear of those types of employ. It's not worth it. So while I could in theory afford it immediately, it would be somewhat unwise to do so until I've found a suitable replacement for my work, as it were. Hence why my tone may have been a bit pointed at times because I don't want to have to immediately pick the phone up if I have to, but I'm not about to miss an opportunity for something as per

It's well over 10 years old but still screaming fast. It was cutting edge at the time, and it's still very respectable. I'm hoping the Clack ages so gracefully. πŸ™‚ I actually believe it will.

  37. I have a separate topic that I created previously for belt holster cases: I know which type you are talking about, as I've used those both with my G2 (HTC Desire Z) and my Galaxy S Relay 4G (until earlier this year, when my last belt half became unusable). I think the only thing you are going to find for solutions that snap into a piece that remains on your belt is the type that require you to glue a piece to the back of the phone. The downside to those designs is the screen facing outward, risking cracking it by pressing against things. It also means the back side of the phone may no

  39. Yes, it requires a lot more thought in the design, especially if you want to keep it easily serviceable too. And keeping water tightness after a repair might be an issue as well. Probably the parts that are required to achieve full water tightness are also more expensive and you have to be a lot more precise during assembly as well. Not to mention the testing. If you advertise something as waterproof you need to test if it really is, and that would be a few extra steps in an already complex manufacturing process. I'm guessing F(x)tec still have a lot on their plates with solving the issue

  43. Morning i took phone to the nearest service center - it was disassembled here. All connection loops where in salt and green oxide, after cleaning with Kontaktreiniger (Liqui Moly) and assembling it works now. Thanks God, electronics wasn't damaged by short curcuits. Serviceman said that all inner plate connectors are opened and vulnerable to water, and there are lot of holes in cover case - dynamic, microphone, sim-slot... now i try to find as tight silicon case, as it possible. May be glueing with silicon sealant unused holes - f.ex, i dont need 3.5mm jack, because of using bluetooth headset.

  44. Welcome to the real world... honestly the only drawback of me buying the phone from a reseller (for FxTec) is that they got slightly less bucks from that device. But so what? Don't be so self-righteous - your behavior reminds me of a fanatic. This was not about instant gratification, but about cheaper price + sooner at my house vs higher price + I don't know when it arrives... I know you don't want to understand because the only truth to everything is your own, but then just stop stinking around. Yes I got my phone earlier, yes I paid less, no I don't regret it, yes the screen is broken,

Like I'm pretty sure what you claim is a breach of contract isn't even close to that. Or what you're calling a strawman argument, isn't a strawman argument, he isn't making the counter argument easier to attack, he's just using an analogy. I agree with one of your main points (I think) though, that people shouldn't abuse the chargeback protection all willy nilly. Always first try to find a solution with the seller first, and it still seems that F(x)tec's doing this. If th

  50. A single water drop that comes in the wrong place can cause havoc on any device though of course very unlikely. If you were unlucky and the snow was contaminated with salt from the road, it can have caused more problems than pure water by itself. I have used the device in very mild rain (took an incoming call), so it not just the first water drop it sees that kills it.
