Certain keys not working initially? [fixed bug in old ROM]
EskeRahn replied to cerialphreak's topic in Support
...Interesting that not all have it. Could it be something that depends on how late we got it? If I recall right both @david and @elvissteinjr only rather recently got theirs, so could something have been fixed??? I suspected Swiftkey, but an uninstall did not change it. I have also tried with both Gboard enabled and disabled. -
Pro1, Ghost touches and other digitizer and display issues
EskeRahn replied to [email protected]'s topic in Support
The screen IS very sensitive, I can often interact with it from 1mm above the display. So my GUESS would be a screen-protector applied with some liquid that has not yet disappeared. Could that be it? -

@roland Sad to hear you do not like it, have you tried some of the various tips for opening in this thread. If you find it really difficult to open a somewhat odd idea consist of simply adding a tiny bit of high friction tape at the back edge of the display, so you can super easily lift the back, rather than pushing the front. like mentioned here (here) If you can find some unidirectional or grooved friction tape, it would be even better, but I have been unable to find that... -
And some apps like the stock Contacts have a narrow scrollbar BUT it is actually possible to access it touching beside it, and that reduces the problem. And some apps seems to have a slider that is completely inactive, and indicative only (I have not succeeded in grabbing it in the language list of SwiftKey yet...), so for those it does not matter either.
-
Not the app icon grid, the Apps list in Settings, Apps, See all ## apps. But it is a standard Android control used elsewhere too. But sure one can swipe but that is a lot slower, and hit and miss, versus drawing the slider to the rough vicinity. So it is not that it prevents you from scrolling, just makes it harder&less efficient on a long list. If you got a very long item that spans over scores of screens, swipe is extremely inefficient... e.g. a long text file. But the list can become so long that the scroll slider is hard to get hold on. Try e.g. the language list in Swiftkey.

Uh I thought 'all' the first batch got them. I got a mail a few days after I got the Retail Unit, saying that they would be sent shortly, and that I should expect them at my door within about a week. (But I declined them)
-
The scroll-bar slider in e.g. the Apps-list is 20 pixel wide, with the display&font size I am using, so if you are extremely lucky, you might get it to work with 19, but 10 is more realistic, and well that is about the size they already have disabled...

...And you find that mentioned in the middle of my reply to the OP... 😜

app Custom Keyboard Layouts for F(x)tec Pro1

Well though I find the idea of your extensions interesting, none of them are some I missed, so no reason for my sake to make a non-shifted Danish variant. Not quite. Only the two Shifts and the two Ctrl are hardwired in parallel, the two YellowArrow keys are electrically separated. On the talk about shift versus yellow arrows, I have a hard time to understand why anyone would have any problems with them doing the same on all character keys but the letter keys. Why would anyone expect say Sh+2 to return "2" ? or Sh+[ to send "[" ? -
I bought this in a couple of variants, And well that was a waste of money IMHO... 1) The case-sliding is not enough to get in when down, and to expose the flash/torch when up. It moves 30mm (would have needed 40mm) 2) The case is BIG! Mounted 90x165x30 versus the 82xx157x23 of the simple flip cases 3) The hard plastic 'claw' gripping the phone, will require modifications to not grip the power button partly, and to allow access to the fingerprint scanner, 4) No side and end protection, except the parts covered by the claw On the plus side, it is symmetric , so it can be
-
I made the above halfway as a joke at getting more grip, but it really has grown on me, and a shorter piece is all it need to do the trick. It is especially useful with a flip-case, as it would be a nuisance in&out of a sleeve or pocket if exposed. If you place a piece of just say 2-3 x 15-20 mm above the fingerprint reader, you will be able to unlock an lift in one movement. Touch, await the haptic feedback, and lift. Can't insure phone as fxtec not a manufacture
EskeRahn replied to tomb's topic in General Discussion
This is primarily a user-to-user forum, so do not expect that they see all threads. I would suggest that you ask your insurance company what informations they want, and then ask FxTec if they can/will provide what is requested. Try the support link https://www.fxtec.com/support/ -

EskeRahn replied to fxyo1's topic in Pro1 - Thoughts & questions
Well I have learned to use it without the edge being an issue also, but we have to admit that due to the need of pushing at one side and&or pulling up at the other, the Pro1 has a higher likelihood of accidental edge-interaction than ordinary slabs with edge-screens. -
No.... I can reduce it to around 40 to get access the the menu, but need to get down to near zero to access the scroll bar. So It is not really useful for me though the principal idea is fine.

The "Edge Null" is a workaround that comes with cost and risk, see also this -
I just love the helpfulness of people in here, thanks. 🤗
-
Though this technically works, no 5) should be taken with more than a pinch of salt, as this comes at a cost&risk - that for some will be acceptable and for others not. 5a) Reduced functionality. Depending on the selected "Display size" & "Font size" (under normal Settings, Display, Advanced) you will have troubles accessing the standard vertical ellipsis top right menu selector in many apps, unless you reduce the border size - and reducing it obviously make the app less useful also. The scroll-bar slider in e.g. the Apps list or your browser will also be inaccessible,

We know from the help others thread that @Serolfic is in the UK, so maybe he would like to help. But note that the seller does not say that they ONLY send to the OK, it just says So I have sent a mail asking for shipping charges. As it is just a matter of a plain envelope, I guess it can not be much. I mean should it be bent so we loose a few stickers it does not matter at all...

Only some see those reboots, I have not seen it at all. And from another thread it seems like it might be related to carriers using certain network bands. and when the carrier passes the phone between those bands. One have reported that he gets it when he travels a certain route by train. They did have an issue on an earlier version of the software where running particular programs made the phone reboot, but that was fixed early December, if I recall correctly.

Certain keys not working initially? [fixed bug in old ROM]
EskeRahn replied to cerialphreak's topic in Support
You only see this issue if you boot password/pin starts with one of 7, U, J, N plus Period Up and Enter, thanks @FlyingAntero (of course letters shifted for those on the shifted keyboards, it follows the physical keys). (Or obviously if you have disabled the security, or use the touch screen for it) I stand corrected, see @FlyingAntero below, it is indeed not limited to boot. I'm a bit puzzled, that I have only seen it after boots. Must normally be doing something with other keys so I have not noticed. -

As often with compares, one can choose things to get a result.... You forget two important things in judging the weight compared to the old ones. The (display) size and the materials. You are comparing with devices with screen that are a third, and less than half of the Pro1. Did the two have metal backs (I do not recall) If I compare it to a Sony XZ2 Premium I could claim that it is not heavy at all(!), 7% larger display plus a keyboard, and just 10g heavier... Sure the Sony has a 10% larger battery and an IP rating. But my point is that it is hard to do a fair compare, as there are -
I can not see the logic in that. It is clearly much more a nice-to-have than need-to-have feature, so obviously it would not be at the top of the stack of issues for fixing. That some reports random reboots is one of the much more important things to handle. But that does not mean that we in anyway can conclude whether or not it will be handled once the more grave issues have been handled. I like @SchattengestaIt find it likely that it will be handled, but of course there are no guarantees here, unless officially stated.

I have been using Open Camera for years, and can highly recommend it. There is one issue with the Pro1: HDR does not work well. There seems to be a bug in the API delivering images at the requested ISO, so when Open Camera then tries to stitch things together we get some weird halos. I saw it a lot on the tough motif of my white dog. Open Camera has no problems with this on other phones i tried. And the Pro1 can do HDR just fine in their build in app. So must be a parameter translation issue in the API. My GUESS some confussion between linear and logarithmic scales in their implementation of
