  1. Lineage OS 17.1 for Pro1 can be seen from the scheduler. https://www.lineageoslog.com/build/scheduler
  2. I was not trying to understate F(x)tec. I really like their work and I hope that they will continue business. Pro1 is my daily driver and I already backed Pro1-X. I was also a backer for Moto Mod keyboard. I was just trying to discuss how well F(x)tec has done in business manner? Is there room for growth? I have heard several times that there is demand for QWERTY phones but no product that you can buy. Now we have a great product but it is not for masses as long as you have to pre-order it via Indiegogo etc.
  3. I noticed that there was interesting information revealed in the Indiegogo page. Pro1 X Smartphone Functionality, Choice & Control First units were delivered to customers at the turn of October-November 2019 so I believe that "thousands of devices" covers every manufactured unit so far. Back in January 2020, it was estimated that F(x)tec had sold about 1000-1400 units while the highest serial number posted to the forum was #1011. Most of the devices were pre-ordered in 2019. Currently highest known serial number is #2155 so maybe another 1000+ devices are/will be sold in 2020?
  4. You can always buy the device and write a review. Then try to get it published by promoting your work to tech sites. Maybe you can something for compensation? That is what I did.
  5. Another app that makes use of Android 10 hidden desktop mode is Taskbar. Has anyone tried it with Pro1 on Android 10? Taskbar 6.0 enables a Samsung DeX-like desktop mode experience on some Android 10+ devices
  6. There is also secret community perk available for 639$ (8/256Gt) if you have not noticed. Not as good as 499$ but something... - https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/pro1-x-smartphone-functionality-choice-control/x/25023503?secret_perk_token=2c0a82a4#/
  7. Apps may use different ways to detect if the phone has been modified afterwards. Some apps check root and others SafetyNet/bootloader status etc. I have also seen apps that refuse to work if developer settings are activated. Most of Finnish banking apps work just fine on custom ROMs (even rooted) but there is a bank called OsuusPankki (OP) which causes trouble. It has two popular apps called OP Mobiili and Pivo. Here is how they work on different phones/ROMs. Redmi Note 4: AOSP ROM (Android 11), GAPPS flashed separately Bootloader unlocked No root SafetyNet does NOT
  8. The reason might be that Google does not allow to ship Lineage OS (LOS) phone with locked bootloader. LOS is not compatible with CTS since it is missing Google Mobile Services (GMS). In the past Google has denied OEMs to ship phones with non-CTS Android version if they want to use keep GMS licence for other phones. See the YunOS (aka Aliyun OS) and Fire OS cases below. Google’s iron grip on Android: Controlling open source by any means necessary Google has allowed individual customers to flash whatever they want to their phones by unlocking bootloder. Then custom ROM users can whi
  9. People should remember that F(x)tec is a really small company that has brought something unique to the market. They have tried their best and I have to give credit to them. Sure, F(x)tec could do things better. Pro1 is not a perfect device and it has its issues. But in the end of the day what other options do you have if you want smartphone with keyboard? There are some alternatives but no other company has a QWERTY slider available. (Astro Slide 5G is coming of course). If you can live without keyboard then you have plenty of choices and you can skip Pro1-X. If keyboard is s must then yo
  10. I ordered 8/256Gt variant with Scandinavian layout. Thanks to F(x)tec for this opportunity 🙂. I missed the first perk but was able to get the second. I think that Sapphire Blue is cool color but I do not like the extra logos. I hope that those will go away in the end. I was just wondering that is the Scandinavian layout finalized yet? It looks the same with initial version. I think that € and $ could be swapped.
  11. Today is the last day attend to the XDA competition. https://www.xda-developers.com/privacy-control-choice/ Can't wait to see what happens tomorrow.
  12. You can hide the extra row and adjust the size of the SwiftKey. Then you can make an automation to use another virtual keyboard for portrait. So SwiftKey for landscape and Gboard for portrait (example).
  13. That is weird since for me the overlay does not block anything on WhatsApp 🤔. Just tried it, see below. I just don't understand why you want to use real keyboard on portrait mode?
  14. I don't think that it is true since Google has already updated Pixel 2 and 2 XL phones to Android 11. They both are using same SD835 chipset than Pro1. Most likely F(x)tec is not able to start develop Android 11 update yet because they do not have the official baseline firmware. It might be too much hassle to start with AOSP code.
  15. You can actually implement that kind of feature by changing keyboard based on the orientation. For example Hacker's Keyboard has an option to enable virtual keyboard when the real keyboard is open. So you are able to use that keyboard portrait and then select different keyboard for landscape. Just use MacroDroid (or similar) for the automation (orientation thing) and Keyboard Switch Assistant for the switch. I tested that feature earlier except that I changed keyboard app by typing key combination. See more from here:
  16. Have you tried Navigation Gestures from XDA? (F(x)tec is in collaboration with that community). It has the "no bar" mode so I think that the navbar should be possible to remove. Some permissions must be enabled via ADB.
  17. You can also check if Keyboard/Button Mapper is able to recognize the sensor. Just try to record trigger when you open or close the keyboard.
  18. This sounds great! XDA is a huge community so I am excited to see what this project can bring for F(x)tec. Maybe it is official support for Lineage OS and Ubuntu Touch? I mean that people can buy Pro1 either with stock Android, LOS or Ubuntu Touch? Or even a new device?
  19. Yesterday I noticed first random reboot since March. However, this time the reboot happened at my home where I have not faced reboots ever before with Pro1. I don't know if the latest updated changed something or was this just a random hiccup (not related to previous reboots)? I was watching YouTube and scrolling web using split screen so maybe I was just stressing the phone too much? I will report if it happens again. Totally have faced 5 or 6 random reboots during 8 months usage so it is not that bad issue.
  20. These guides might be helpful: Teardown: https://gelraen.github.io/fxtec-pro1-teardown/ Screen replacement: https://community.fxtec.com/topic/2586-spare-parts/page/2/?tab=comments#comment-40911 BTW: Are you able to share the instructions from the support (F(x)tec)? EDIT: Or is it this one? There are instructions how to disassembly screen panel with heat gun. https://matland.be/pro1disassembly.pdf
  21. I was able to just copy and paste the commands at once. So I did not have to process them one by one.
  22. Actually, security updates are not distributed via Play Store in Android 11 but some security holes can be fixed since system modifications are allowed via Play Store. The best Android 11 features you need to know Previously F(x)tec said that Android 10 update is already in the works. If that is true then I would take it. Otherwise it is better to start working with Android 11 update.
  23. Obviously, that was just a joke 😄. I knew that I was playing mostly with bots. Actually PUBG supports keyboard but it is not very practical on Pro1 since you can't remap the keys. You could use third party apps for remapping but you might end up being banned 🤷‍♂️.
  24. User experience is little bit snappier if you disable all animations. I have been doing that with many phones including Pro1. You can also edit font size from the Accessibility settings.
  25. You can find it from hidden developer settings. It is called "smallest widht". Here is the documantation: https://developer.android.com/training/multiscreen/screendensities Also, you can tune display and font size from Accessibility settings under display.
