First testprint made last night. I've split the bottom up in 2 parts to figure out how well the fit is. there is some slight (2mm) missalignment of the buttons and usb-c header and the camera placemen

I made a leather pouch for the Pro1. I used cow leather, thickness about 2 mm. All the parts are glued with super glue gel adhesive which remains flexible. I made some holes to see the led and to get

Just finished a quick sketch of the bottom part of the protective cover:   Will run a test print tonight to get first dimensions with hard plastic to see how the shell fits, then adjust

I have been considering one of these for a while... Designed for P20 Pro.

1. How well the magnets hold the case on with thickness and possible gap created?

2. Will the halves grip the phone with friction and fit alone?

3. Would some of the locating pins need to be shave to allow the phone to open?

Well it might work while closed, but I doubt they would stick when slid open, but could be worth a try. Note though that the hard edges could be complex to modify for the buttons and fingerprint reader.

Being creative, what about modifying TWO sets? One for each part of the Pro1, cutting down the covering back on one case and the front on the other case...

...One thing I have found out is the Pro1 screen is far easier to open with the protectors over the screen, just need to find one that fits...

I totally agree on that. I think at this point I am going to wait for @EskeRahn to have a EUREKA! moment and then just buy whatever he recommends.
My goal is to wait until I find something that needs zero mods and just go with the cheapest option until then.

I would not at all be surprised to see F(x)tec introduce a soft shell that can be used either as is or adhered into a flip case. Sort of similar to what we do when we take out the inner shell of a P20 Pro flip case, and then (optionally) glue it back in. This could be an adhesive strip,

Let us see if we can not tempt @Waxberry to do that.

I think we will have a hard time doing a two part case, but we will see. The first I got today for Honor 9 lite as expected is too small, but cutting off one end the front part sort of works, but not good. so hopefully something can be done with a longer case intended for an edge type screen (if we can find it)

Just ordered this as a (too long) candidate for the top.

Whatever happened to that prototype hard case?

If it's not going into final production, I think they should decide ASAP to release the dimensions/manufacturer and so on...

Have to agree.

But I hope they do sort out a range of cases so they have more to sell in the store.

The Pro1 got two Hall-probes, one for detecting Slider open&close and one that seems designed for detecting a Flip-case!
See this.

Now THAT was a nice surprise!

It does not seem to be part of the BOE screen assembly looking at their imges, so a nice Easter egg from F(x)tec!

It does not currently seem to have any action (yet), But I hope an OTA will add a functionality similar to the power button, to turn off&on the screen. Any comments from @Waxberry here perhaps?

Suitable magnets we can inject in a flip-case are by far expensive. e.g this.

Sen in portrait It is roughly 3.5cm from the top and 1.5cm from the side.

I've said on this thread previously that my Pro1 lives in a thin leather fitBAG pouch... But some days, like when I'm in the workshop with lots of grinder dust, or if I'm working on site, I've wished I had a case that offered a little more rugged storage.

By coincidence, this morning I noticed that my HP35s calculator has a very similar footprint to the Pro1, and the battered old HP supplied hardshell zip case is a great fit. The Pro1 is a little loose inside it on it's own (but restrained by the elastic straps or net inside the case), or a snug fit if still inside the fitBAG sleeve.

The HP original case looks identical to this one, except for the HP branding (not the seller I used, but the best photos I found online)

I've found an ebay seller with an aftermarket version of the case, so I've ordered one to see how similar it is. If it isn't good enough, no problem, I've a spare HP35s that doesn't have a case :classic_cool:

Not exactly a protective case, but it sure does add some texture,  This is a matte black DBrand skin intended for a Note 10.  Didn't have to do a lot, The camera fit fine and the microphone hole was *almost* right.  I trim the width and that's about it.  My production skills with trimming are not the best, but the matte black color hides most of my flaws.  It definitely gives the phone more grip while leaving the nice feel of the phone in your hand.  I wasn't brave enough to try a cutout for the F(x) Tec logo.  😉

If anyone is interested in a well made leather pouch with a pull tab, I recently bought this one from MediaDevil in the UK.  I tried a couple of different sizes.  It's not perfect as the phone does protrude from the top a bit and it could do with being slightly narrower but until someone produces a custom fitted case for the Pro1 it's a bit more robust than the fabric sleave suplied by F(x)Tec. (It does have a couple of small holes at the back for what I assume is for a speaker on the back  of the note 4).

Currently using a black velveteen pouch that's a lot lighter and quicker to remove than the grey felt slip.

Helps keep pocket dust from entering, but not from scratches when placing on a surface, much less when dropping a naked 244g phone onto cement.

I admire Hook's stick-on skin to keep the back in good condition when placing it face-up on an uneven surface. Also helps elevate the glass camera lenses even if it's just by 0.0001mm. So far it's the only one I could almost see myself doing as it doesn't detract much from the aesthetic. But I'm really holding out for the kind of official protective case that it should have shipped with. The grey sleeve is cute but clearly a placeholder.

They need to make this work like the power button. That would be awesome.
