Ok, here are my first Impressions from Sailfish (Alpha state) on Pro1: The Porting-Team did a great job so far!!! Anyway it's still Alpha and you can feel that still on some missing features and some rough edges. I always used official Sailfish devices in the past, so this is my first community port. Boot time is the first thing which is something which made me somewhat nervous on the install process. The first boot takes ages but also the following ones take more than 3 times longer than that on my XperiaX. SIM Card is detected and I can make phone calls. But I can't access

Here are more pictures. - the sleeve is a little bit wider and taller as the phone. It's not easy to put the the phone in it and out. Therefore, it definitely doesn't fall out by itself! - the protector fits really good to the screen -> full screen incl. edges (please ignore the bubbles 😂)

If somebody has problems with understanding why a small company takes so long to develop and ship a product for the first time, this may help you. For me it really helped understand the numerous difficulties and you get a lot of details that companies couldn't give you. PS: I don't know why it embeds or how I prevent that. Sorry!

That's weird, but hopefully more up to date sources can be used in the future. I'd be interested to see a UbuntuTouch port for the Pro1 so thank you for at least trying!

So I started setting my machine up to compile UbuntuTouch for Pro1, but I'm now stuck at the step where I need to get source files for the Pro1. The thing that I just read, before I seem to have skipped the version number, is that you need the sourcefiles for LineageOS 14.1 which would be Android 7. Not Android 9 / Lineage OS 17. Lmfao, well I had like the chunky Nokia, a flip phone Kyocera, LG Rumor (keyboard), LG Tritan (keyboard), Blackberry Tour, Samsun Galaxy 3, Iphone 6&7....hmm I feel like there’s more but that’s all I can remember right now. I can not WAIT for Pro1! Never had a smart phone with a keyboard. I don’t understand why there isn’t more selection with phones these days! They are all just full touch screen phones, it’s weird. It’s like they give the illusion of choice but the phones nowadays are all the same.

Thanks, was unaware, They are available out there though, e.g. this BUT this particular one is not really suited, as it with 10.4mm would go below the bottom of the Pro1, so you would have to have the Pro1 in a thick case, or to place it on something lifting the bottom about 3mm. (I know that the round simple charge magnetic plugs, does NOT work well without a case, as the USB-C plug is mounted fairly deep near the base)

Upon seeing the topic title, before reading the request, I just imagined a bracelet connected to a case, using the Pro1 as a HUGE smartwatch. Another gadget to find. Kinda like the cyborg-style idea.. 🙂

With how popular LOS is they get quite a lot of traffic, so maybe it isn't as cheap as you'd think? Also I don't think they have very much money. I wouldn't be surprised if someone had a full archive of all builds though. It does suck.

Also, I intensely disagree with the decision to pull all the archived builds for legacy devices. I still use my D4 as a daily driver, still play with some D1s, and am very annoyed that I cannot get the CM/LOS ROMs for them anymore. I still have some local copies, but anyone who is just now thinking of playing with them is just out of luck unless they have a friend who still has copies. Storage is cheap; why not keep legacy ROMs forever as curiosities? For certain things, some of the very old devices are still excellent. There's no better device I know of for emulation than the D1, for example,

Wouldn't simple encryption stop any sort of attack that you could achieve via an unlocked bootloader? You can't change the ROM to something similar but with added software if you can't de-encrypt the current ROM. Best you can do is change it to something similar, but that should be noticed. I don't get how it's an issue.

LOL....truth be told, my Droid 4 can do all of that, but it's just feeling so reluctant these days....I've dragged it kicking and screaming into 2019 with a custom ROM from LineageOS, but am definitely looking forward to my Pro1. Also, for reasons I don't fully understand, I got the PRIV back out, and am using it to post this......I remember why I put it away LOL. It's better equipped, but less usable. I just don't like portrait.

And SSH into my computer, and edit code, and chat to people, and search the web, and take notes, and make photos with an actual 2 stage shutter button, and play emulator games, and write emails... It is gonna be so awesome 🙂!

Well I sure as hell am also voting my dollars to the Pro1, still seems too good to be true yet it most certainly is :). I find it very confusing even that there is not much more demand for a keyboard on a phone, we have so much computing power in those mobile devices but it's barely convenient enough to even send a text message... But I can understand people who don't really care to have portable computing and mostly want phone calls and no hassle would get the iThings and be plenty happy.

Sure, if you're in an iJail and can't do anything without the iWarden's permission, your security is going to be pretty good. Liberty is messy, but my forefathers chose it (I'm American) and I choose it too, when I vote politically, and vote with my dollars. I voted the most money I ever voted in my life on a phone for the P1, and I expect it will be worth very penny. I might actually get a few more just to have spares. This is the best thing ever, really.....a phone which is open, rootable, customizable, has a fabulous keyboard, and is built to last forever. I can hardly wait!

No one with physical access to my devices is smart enough to install a game since I disable or remove every single Google thing on it, including the store. :O You're worried about so-called "evil maid" attacks, apparently. I'm not worried about that, and would hardly call it a security nightmare under normal usage, but it is nice to know that locking the bootloader is possible for those who wish it. Oh man, how far back should we go? Lol I’ll just do the last 7-8 years 😂 Pretty much just Samsung Galaxy S3 and then switched to iPhones. I’ve been dying for a keyboard smartphone for 10+ years though. I LOVED the LG Rumor I had in Middle school.

HAHA! It's difficult to be consistent. Mega respect for making the effort. :) I highly recommend not using this feature on any device ever, for the reasons we've already discussed. But, c'est la vie. I also highly recommend being patient with the wonderful people at F(x)tec while they iron out these little tiny bugs. I'm sure no one bought the Pro1 specifically to use Google Pay. Keep your old phone in your pocket for that for a minute. LOL!

I don't use Google Pay either due to privacy reasons, but your argument is still wrong. It doesn't matter what smartphones were created for, it's the question what they are used for. And if people are used to watching the latest dog pictures in some internet forum (cough cough), then their criticism would be absolutely valid, if they couldn't do that with the Pro1.
