I could not resist trying it as I was too curious. 🙂 So this option has really worked. I have searched the existence of this option but found nothing so it seems to be really undocumented but as it works, now I love it. 🙂 Applied page up / down and home / end to fn+arrows and all of them work perfectly well even in Firefox, so I can easily jump to the beginning or end of a textbox for example and also page up / down functionalities work on web pages. Anyway, as it is dark here, I have noticed that F5 turns off keyboard's backlight and F6 turns it back on, even if I write repla6 points

They sure don't make it easy, do they? With all the various specs and changing them every year. I spent some time researching (no real world testing, myself) and here is what I came away with: 1) For running apps on these cards, there is no way we can come anywhere close to the internal storage. Even if you get cards with an A1 or A2 rating, for running apps on them, they won't perform close to what they should (meaning what the A2 spec says, for instance), when run inside a phone. We're talking about small, random reads/writes. For maximum app performance, run the apps only on the5 points

Hi everyone, Mostly good news today, as always gathered personally. The logistics team is currently drafting the shipping lists for the big batch that will ship in a few days. This batch is 6x bigger than the previous batches combined. Most of you will be left very happy, and those in the list will receive a stock assignment notice either this weekend or early next week. There is nothing left to prioritise on the Indiegogo side, as that will be fully covered by this coming batch. Those with Indiegogo deals can start getting excited as they are the first known customers that will5 points

That is normal (but has confused many people). However, you want to be sure of your status, you can always email info@fxtec.com and ask them.3 points

The first utility apps I install on any Android device I own are FX and Termux. Together they turn a smartphone or tablet into a full-featured pocket computer. The former is in my opinion the best file manager Android has, while the latter gives me a fully-featured Linux terminal complete with the apt package manager. From there I can install ssh and I've got a connection to my desktop PC from anywhere with an internet connection for file transfer and media streaming.3 points

As far as I know, SD cards do not do any wear leveling. That is why f2fs support would be a useful feature as it was specifically designed for this type of flash storage (I wrote it in feature request topic but I think it will not be included anyway). However, it would be much better to use that on uSD cards to reach longer usability time of them...2 points

Thanks, that's a nice summary. I am worried that none of these criteria appear to address sustainability. I would assume that unless a regulation is in place, manufacturers tagging their device with "Endurance" and such buzzwords provide no actual guaranties on how long the card will survive frequent writings over the same blocks (which its use as swap would imply). Are there specific things to look for when you want a card that will stand the test of time? I suspect that when they talk about video recording, they mean writing that is spread across the whole device: you basically never re2 points

Exactly that. There was no IGG campaign directly for Pro1 but coupons transferred from Moto Mod campaign. So as of last information, your order should also be fulfilled by this batch.2 points

Please provide us a feedback later mentioning how that display is working in Pro1 compared to its original display. Also it would be interesting if it may have some light leaking issue and how it is look like. Moreover, I would like to have information of how you screen performs some months later. Thank you in advance.2 points

I'm just happy that Erik is honest. He gives us exact numbers and tells us when more devices are going to be shipped. Sure I'd have liked to get my device soon and sure I could tell about my phone falling apart - it actually is. But with that kind of honesty, I can't be mad. Thank you, @Erik and FxTec for listening to us.2 points

[This is a temporary page while we setting up the support page guild and host files on our server.] The Fastboot restoration file can be downloaded in here. ADD: A newer file for 20200825 can be found here Preparation: You need to have a PC and installed universal ADB driver. Completely turn off the phone. Download the firmware and unfold and copy all the files into the adb folder which installed with the driver. Procedures: Hold Volume down + Power key together, when the logo shows up, release both fingers. The phone should boot into bootloade1 point

I have several times tried to look for the battery by both these numbers from the FCC images... Does anyone that have had it open know if this is the one actually used? Anyone found it? Or 'just' something compatible.1 point

Nope on the contrary. The least bad I have encountered yet is this: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/143305414094?var=442219881482 With an ever so slightly less protrusion, and with a better ability to snap the magnet when closing than the Raxfly. Often the Raxfly needs a slight push to get it right, it often snaps like this:1 point

The one with the gasket and flex on the plug seem to work fine with the Pro1. e.g. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/273930904168 The one with no gasket and stiff plugs does not work well with the Pro1. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/3623320033941 point

Dispatch could mean to customers, as all units are sent straight from Hong Kong this time around. They'll likely leave the factory on the way to Hong Kong on the 18th, on which they obviously have to be done making them already.1 point

I got the 128GB SanDisk Extreme V30 A2 for €21 from Amazon a while back. I'm sure it will do just fine in terms of read/write. More than enough space since I don't use my phone for music anymore. SanDisk cards also have never failed me so far. All I'm missing is the phone to put it in. Excellent post btw, david!1 point

Some do, some don't. It is not easy to find out which do, though. It's an ongoing subject for users of the Raspberry Pi computer, where the operating system sits on a Micro SD card, brutally shortening the card's lifespan if it doesn't do wear levelling. Some e-book readers seem to wear cards surprisingly fast, too, probably because of many, possibly unnecessary writes on special sectors. I've already killed four cards in Raspberry Pis and in my old Sony ebook reader, fast enough but cheap Transcend cards (i had been using Transcend flash cards for photography for many years without any p1 point

I had AT&T Prepaid for a month while I was working out Verizon. The apn was AT&T Nextgenphone. However, the account has been cancelled so I don't have the preferred networks setting for it, I do know I didn't have to pick that setting. It used the default.1 point

Thanks for the input guys. I'll pop into the camera shop on my next shopping excursion, see what they stock. But I plan on going for the biggest I can afford so as to minimise opening and closing the tray.1 point

Exactly, these keys are seem to be very useless on Pro1 especially if they were sent together with the combination of fn modifier. 🙂1 point

You mean you are okay with f.e. your insurance getting more expensive or even cancelled because you talked to your friend about your hurting leg? or googled it? The whole danger behind it is not that someone tries to blackmail you, the whole danger is bleeding you out. The more data they have they more money they gonna make from you. In the end the big target of a lot of companies is user based pricing. So since they now you love f.e. chocolate, they gonna sell it for 7 bucks to you !1 point

d Thank you, it is good to know, that case I feel better. 🙂 You are right, it also affects landscape lock, but at least it can be turned on again in case the backlight isn't lit after wakeup when keyboard remains open (which is currently the case). Maybe it would be better if they were not send Fn+F5/F6 but some more unusual keystroke or combination like F11/F12 or Fn+some media key or fn+shift+key. It would be good if they could also use SW_LID anyway. You're welcome. I also think they are useful in all languages so basically it would be good to put it in ever1 point

I would got for a A2 classed card it would be fine for recording video and will perform better for storing applications especially when you have large games on it. (Better as a swap disk as well haha)1 point

But wasn't there a cut off date for paying for those with coupons and if they paid after that date, they did not get shipping preference? This is just from memory, so I could be remembering incorrectly. I mention it, because 36xxx is a fairly large order number, which means the chances of paying layer may have been greater. Do you know when you paid, @Gigadoc2?1 point

Hm. Assuming just putting "PAGE_UP" on there instead of "fallback PAGE_UP" doesn't work... I've seen a "replace" keyword in one of the vendor kcm files in the android source tree. That's not documented, but perhaps "replace PAGE_UP" would work? Just theorizing however. I don't have any practical experience with fiddling with these.1 point

I got the Sugru I ordered today, and started experimenting with a car key, where the rubber has vanished over the last twenty years. For some years I have used it wrapped in fibre-tape, and tied up with a strip - I will spare you the image of that.... Removing that and here is the key next to one that is still pristine: (To please @abielins and to get the Sugru to stick better I tried to clean it with some spirits, but some paper fibres stuck, please forgive...) I then took a small package of the Sugru And tried to shape a new key-head. It is much like clay to work with. I1 point

Well even if we only want to shift a few, we would still like them aligned, so the sheet make sense. But It could also be making a standard qwerty on a shifted one, and that would change a lot of keys - though it perhaps would more sense in starting that from qwertZ, where most are correct from the begining.1 point

Assuming the spin and/or vagary is put on this and previous messages, I would apply an appropriate level of cynicism and assume that means this batch will bring the total units delivered will be 70% of pre-orders. (then I think we can each add our own personal error bars onto that figure )1 point
-
All of the countries that we have orders from will receive devices. The formula above is to ensure they all receive devices, even if there was 1 order from a small island country.1 point
-
No no no. The formula is: 1. "Total orders of a country" is what percent of all orders? 2. Then, how many units does the country percentage equal to out of the current batch size? 3. = the number of units shipped to that particular country, based in order of when the payment was received. Whether it's a country with low interest or not, this formula keeps it fair for everyone. If it was only done in order of payments, the smaller countries may have to wait for a while, as not everyone was awake when we started accepting payments :). Obviously we don't count the1 point

This has always been a balance between different speeds of things. Another reason to swap is to get contiguous memory (some idiot allocated too much :D)1 point

So I've spent the better part of a day trying to figure out what's wrong with voice calls. I can't see anything wrong. I've got reports from several people that voice calls work fine on Lineage. The one person that reported an issue on github says that it doesn't work on either stock or Lineage, so that's not a Lineage specific issue. My experience is that I can get SMS and data, but no voice calls, both on Lineage and on stock. I have to assume this has something to do with my carrier and the IMEI, because there really isn't anything else that I can see that would1 point
-
I agree that currently FinQwerty is close to being a must. I simply can not understand why the stock does not duplicate the shift and fn action on the digits and symbols key. I can not imagine why anyone would prefer shift ignored. So though FxTec strictly has handled the keyboard-driver, it is far from optimal - and it seems pretty silly on a device where the keyboard is THE selling point, to not do the utmost to deliver a perfect keyboard experience stock...1 point
-
What he was very politely hinting at, to which I, personally, am less inclined, is that if you don't come up with a better answer on "how else to explain it" yourself, you're either suffering from a severe lack of imagination, or you're absolutely intent on throwing mud at Fxtec even though you damn well know that there are more possible explanations.1 point

How about they are swamped trying to get folks their Pro1s and web work on the site is low priority. As always, I understand the frustration and disappointment. I don't understand personal attacks on folks who are clearly working hard to get out devices which, most who receive them agree, are what they promised to produce... a high quality horizontal keyboard slider.1 point

The aim is to ship the stock to our EU and US (if we re-establish a US warehouse by then) warehouses, or directly to customers before the Chinese New Year, as after that both the factory and the 1st logistics hub in HK will be off for a while. The Chinese New Year starts on the 25th of January, so some of you will have their devices before the end of January. Others, perhaps those in Europe, will have their stock assignment before the end of January only, and delivery by 1-3 February, at least to my projection.1 point
-
I am well aware :). Chen is in the factory right now, and he expects them to produce all of the pre-orders before the Chinese New Year. The meant to be "big batch" has already been produced, but this time we'll be shipping all of the pre-orders together, not parts of them. Small batches keep our customers happy, but they take longer to get around as it would mean allocating more workforce to the delivery side, multiple times, while right now the priority is to produce all of the pre-orders and ship them all at once. Therefore, the advised deadline "by the end of January" is still very much in1 point

Mid-February, as the current pre-orders will ship by the end of this month.1 point
