I can't decide if I like it since it adds character or if it is mildly infuriating and will keep me up at night. I guess it would be an easy fix that I could do myself but then I have to take the stickers off the screws. It also does not effect the usage of the keyboard and everyone that I showed it found it hilarious π9 points

The ProΒΉ is just too powerful. Phone too loud at lowest volume. Screen too bright at lowest setting. Keyboard too awesome even when backlight off. Where does it end?8 points

Well, I guess posting the results will be more important than all the trials. And you can be sure you will be able to read the important stuff here.7 points

My phone arrived yesterday though FedEx initially scheduled for 27th. I am happily busy now! π Thanks to everyone at FxTec for making this come true!3 points

If you install FinQwerty you get layouts (including standard US) that allow all these with normal shift key also (it's not really an app, but more like a set of layout that comes as an app because android has a weird API to allow non-rooted userlevel apps to add keyboard layouts, very unobtrusive and nice way to go about stuff). I found it relatively straightforward on stock, for Lineage it should be the same but the location of the keyboard layout may be different. I had to run (as root): mount -o remount,rw / To get write access to /system, and then it was down to editing /sys3 points

Because it's likely going to require real time communication in order to not stretch into weeks, and I doubt there is anything at the end user level to learn from this. I'm offering to do this for two reasons: I'm genuinely curious what is wrong with this device, and I don't feel it's right to make other people pay for your mistakes.3 points

I don't recall anyone mentioning when or whether stock will be upgraded to Q. Has anyone official chimed in on this? Lineage is getting close to releasing Q (which will be 17.1). By the time that happens, I should have Lineage running well and updating should hopefully be pretty easy.3 points

Yes dual sim, so have the company call you on the private line... π€£3 points

You should try calling yourself from your new phone to ask yourself to come in for a stern talking toππ. I am unsure at the moment what to do. My current phone has never been de-googled, but I have a few lying around with google-free custom roms (native and GSI). I was actually considering to give it a go but I still have to investigate which rom to choose for this (Google free stock/Lineage/Sailfish/ ...)3 points

Background history Alright. So I broke my Pro1's screen. I don't know how the remaining scratches came to be, but the first one was the Pro1 falling off outside my bath tube (there was no water involved). I ordered a replacement as suggested on AliExpress. I ordered the screen on the 29th of December, it arrived on the 20th of January, I believe. I did not get to it until today. Replacing the screen The actual display seems to be the same as the one for the Elephone U / U Pro models. Replacing the screen is - probably - rather easy, though I managed to make some mistak3 points

hello guys, I finally got my Pro1, the experience has been pretty good, the camera aspect is well, serviceable, but the most annoying thing is the fingerprint reader registering inputs when you just hold and grip the phone in your hand when it's locked, leading to the dreaded "too many attempts, try again later" prompt. I think the proper fix (apart from not enrolling into fingerprint unlock) is to only turn the fingerprint reader on when the phone screen is on. The big question is: is there a way to disable the fingerprint reader from reading whatever it's placed on it when the screen2 points

Indeed, sad but true. It's currently not working in 17. I'm hoping they will figure that out. And if they don't, me or someone else likely will.2 points

Or making the sensor active only after waking up by power button (or keyboard in the future if it gets implemented).2 points

Recent Android build has removed recovery partition you have to flash TWRP into boot for using it. It's Android thing.2 points

Right, but one big thread containing all bugs anyone might have found gets less and less practicable for someone to comb through, and it gets less and less sensible to suggest someone should before they may be allowed to mention something themselves β the more so as forum search always only finds so much... And it hasn't been officially "confirmed", either. As others already suggested, things would probably be different if F(x)tec would set up a real bugtracker...2 points

Thanks for the offer but I think I will keep it like this π I wish the shortcuts could also be used for other things besides launching apps. Would love to map it to rotating the screen.2 points

I guess since the Pro1 is still to be considered a rare and much sought-after good, prices will not go down quickly (or at all), and just a few weeks after first deliveries (and just days into next batch) they're practically mint and not on the used market (except maybe some broken screens @divstar) Much rather higher collector's prices are to be paid. Not long ago there were offers for 2000$...2 points

Will give you mine for exchange, itΒ΄s a one-of-a-kind. I would not recommend to take it apart to peel of the button and reseat it. As far as I can tell, single Buttons are not meant to be replaced/torn off.2 points

In my opinion it adds rotates character. I had no idea the keycaps were individual separate things, that's quite nice actually.2 points

Got my click clack yesterday π₯³ The original delivery date was next Tuesday though. Maybe that was expecting customs delays. The screen size isn't too bad, however I reckon the thickness and weight will be noticeable, But Iagree they've done an amazng job making it feel as nice as possible.2 points

I would also like to know what is the current situation with Scandic layout. I believe that there are potential customers waiting for this information. @MortisAngelus Keep in mind that SD835 is better chip than newer mid range chips like SD710 or SD730 which you can find from new phones. I think that F(x)tec made a great decision when they selected SD835 and saved some cost. So you are paying less from better performance. The "high" price comes from slider and keyboard which are unique tech. Just like foldable phones cost much more than ordinary flagships. Think about it: Motr2 points

Just got this in an email from FedEx: "Hi, DAVID. Clearance issues have been resolved for your package from EXPANSYS (HONG KONG) LIMITED. Shipment has been released for delivery." The tracking shows that it is now in Memphis, TN. It was in Lantau Island, HK yesterday. Here is what it shows for when it arrived in the USA: ... 11:19 pm MEMPHIS, TN International shipment release - Import 10:36 pm MEMPHIS, TN Arrived at FedEx location ... It is still scheduled for delivery in Minnesota next Wednesday, 1/29/2020.2 points

By its nature, it hijacks basic system functions and hides/overrides things. That's bad in my book. Same as xposed. After 7 years of working with Android ROM development, I've seen the trouble these types of things can cause. And since they usually work fine, the device maintainer (me) gets blamed when they break in odd ways. Lineage (and previously CyanogenMod) bug forums are littered with crashes caused by these things. So the first thing the alert developer does is look for evidence of these tools and reject the bug report if found. So basically, they cause much pain2 points

Lineage has an su addon package. AOKP (which I love and always use) has su builtin. But most of the time, I keep su disabled and use "adb root" from my PC if I need to tinker with things.2 points

Sgroogle quickly realized that doing so was counterproductive to their consumer-as-the-product business model, where stealing your data is the name of the game, and the vanilla program went away in favor of the GspyMail version. My original Droid has it. I have it as a novelty alarm clock at this point, but it's occasionally a useful reminder of what Android was in 2008/9.2 points

That's a matter of definition. if the letters on the keys have to match what they type, that could be awhile, if ever. In the meantime, check out the fine work of @Anssi Hannula on FinQwerty. It makes almost anything possible. :)2 points

This has already been reported, as well as the fact that at less than 50% brightnes there is a grey-green wash over things. Good to check particularly the stickied bug thread before creating new threads. π2 points

Ohhh, Ahhh, wait just a second here!!! LOL. There are a few of us that find this matter very interesting, I was kinda hoping to watch it unfold, but since that's not possible, once it's fixed, please fill us in as to what was wrong (yes, I'm very curious about what happened, if that wasn't already conveyed in the last sentence, lol). π π2 points

Alright, so I got gnss fixed. I just did a fresh build and wipe and .... it boots. Unfortunately there are some broken things that need to be fixed before I can do another release (namely wifi and cell radio). But now that I've gotten it to boot, it should be all downhill from here. So I'll work on those and hopefully will have a working build within a few days. After that the bugs should fall quickly and official support won't be far off.2 points

I had fedex 'delivery scheduled' for next Tuesday. Checked tracking yesterday, showed the unit arriving in Japan. Got an email this morning 8am saying 'your delivery is on the van' (in the UK). Arrived by 10am Flashed SFOS by 11am Late for work - luckily I work for myself, so will give myself a stern talking to later on when I get a quiet moment. This evening I may buy myself a beer by way of an apology (QWERTY, order 48xx)2 points

I'd be good with just disabling the fingerprint reader permanently. :O OK, I'll go back to the nursing home now......2 points

This was an idea from @Tim6263 I personally will not be seeking a refund since there is no other device out there that compares to the Pro1's design, so I'm sticking with it.1 point

Yes. it is. @divstar here with a broken screen/glass on the ProΒΉ already replaced it successfully with a spare part for the Elephone!1 point

I would like to also hear about this problem as detailed as possible. Also if it is a hardware failure and also if it is a software problem... and if a solution has been found, it would be good to also hear what helped. I hope you will solve it soon.1 point

@tdm You're one of the good guys, and I'm convinced you would have helped devyl solve the problem too. π I'm genuinely curious as to what's wrong with it also. So when the time comes, please enlighten all of us on the sidelines. βΊοΈ1 point

Had a few Keyboard smartphones. Started with the N73 (can you call that a smartphone?) Then the Nokia N95-8GB Then went on to the Nokia N900. Absolutely loved that phone, so bought another 1. β€οΈ Next I went on to a Jolla 1 with the TOHKBD. Quirky as hell that set up π Next was a Sony Xperia X re-flashed with SailfishX. Now I'm on the Pro1, but still using the Xperia X as my main phone at the moment.1 point

Indeed, companies in general do not want their devices to be repairable.... The harder to repair, the bigger chance that you waste money on a new one marginally better than the one you got. A planned obsolescence business model aPple has proven works extremely well if people are gullible enough - so that pest has been spreading. Nice to see that there still are companies like F(x)tec that believes in not cheating the customers!! Making the Pro1assembled with screw, and very little glueing. I can not wait to see Ifixit get their hand on a Pro1. I think they are going to have a field d1 point
