  1. I made a leather pouch for the Pro1. I used cow leather, thickness about 2 mm. All the parts are glued with super glue gel adhesive which remains flexible. I made some holes to see the led and to get stereo sound! There is no flap for closing, just a gap that opens to let the device in and out. see pictures for the details. If you want to try something similar, make sure that the inner part is about 1 mm wider than the phone to ensure it’s easy to slide it out.

  2. a few things ive noticed 1. audio has static/cracking noise in full screen games. this is through the speakers or through earphones. havent tested BT 2. if i open teamviewer and try remoting to my pc the phone will hard reset. after numerous tries ive been able to get it to work but its like 1 out of 5 times. it does seem to connect as i get the message on my pc about the connection so i believe it has to do with rendering the video? 3. playing videos with MX player will occasionally hard reset the phone as well. the audio does not stutter. this was using the software codec (cpu

  8. Starting off, I know FR still uses mostly the AZERTY keyboard but who knows if they like this? I'm a Portuguese person who found out about this phone only yesterday. I'm very interested in it and, because of that, I want to propose a keyboard that should work well for latin-based languages. To make this economically viable, I believe many destinations require the same keyboard. Here are the keyboard layouts I believe should be able to fit in, in a single fxtec keyboard layout. 13. The virus outbreak is hitting China very hard. Everything is shut down for at least another week in the hope of stopping it from spreading. Somewhere between 10,000 and 100,000 are infected and it doesn't look like it's slowing down much. It's looking pretty grim... I wouldn't make any plans revolving around getting a new Pro1 within the next month or two.

  17. Updated 18 Aug 2020: Updated flashable package to 3.3.0.16. Many thanks to Adam Pigg who has fixed many bugs and implemented many featured including fingerprint reader and encrypting user data, which will be available shortly. Another change for this package is after flashing, user will be on testing repository instead of devel, it's highly recommended for previous users to switch to. Disclaimer: This is the unofficial community build of Sailfish OS, and it's still work in progress and in Alpha state. It is not yet suitable for daily use. Flash at your own risk. 18. So this is a bit of a "Huh" moment. @david recommended this clear bumper to me. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07L2SQLRC?ref=ppx_pt2_dt_b_prod_image I just got it today and put it on. He had told me that some mods need to be done to get the buttons to align and the ports to be easy access. I was trying to upload some pics to my PC and pried it off and stuck it on the front. You know what? YOU CAN TYPE THROUGH IT! YOU CAN TOUCH THE SCREEN! You know what? I can flip open the phone - with ease - and the entire screen is protected. Sure there is a cut out for w

  21. In N900, modifiers like shift were sticky and it was really usable. I miss that on Pro1 but I hope it will have that option soon. So if I wanted to use shift+letter, I could type the same way like with PC keyboard - but if a key was hard to reach, I could press shift, release it and just press the other key and it behaved like if I pressed the shift key. So this is an important feature for faster and more convenient writing on the keyboard...

  22. @Waxberry: Did you (fxtec) program the stock launcher? If so, could you open-source it? That might allow users to improve it or install it on LineageOS and such.

  23. This is because if the stock launcher implementation. It handles not distorting the layout, particularly widgets, by forcing a two column architecture on you. For the same reason, you can't center widgets in landscape.

  29. As a frequent typer of Swedish, I can positively say that DE QWERTZ physical layout is "good enough" with Finqwerty. I'm sure I would be almost equally bothered to see non-swedish ÅÄÖ on the keyboard. And to make one swedish/finnish and one danish/norwegian would probably not be financially viable.

  32. OUCH! This is not good at all! I have never seen this behavior, but I also haven't loaded LOS on a Pro1 (yet) either. I wonder what would have happened if instead of reflashing stock, you just put the SIM card into another phone and flipped the switch, then returned it to the Pro1.

  33. That's really interesting! If it happens again try all numbers on the number row (edit: maybe try first the letters in the row above the one with f and j) first and let me know! (this goes for anyone that experiences the bug)

  36. Roaming between AP's. I have three AP's in my apartment, controlled by one wireless controller. They're all Cisco 2700 series AP's. Yes, jitter is the std deviation as seen in HE network tools. So given that HE network tools maybe sends three ICMP echo requests very fast, maybe that's enough to flush the buffer? In that case, this is more of a cosmetic problem in most cases, unless you want to infrequently transfer low amounts of data with low latency.

  38. I haven't taken the test yet, but it really depends on what you type. If it's RDP+SSH and +bash-related stuff, there is much more to consider: visible screen area while you type. Like... typing sudo apt get and editing config is simply painful with on-screen keyboards. Typing regular text works alright via voice and especially gboard. Though I like typing on the pro1 keyboard, because it usually doesn't vanish of I touch the display somewhere by accident (and that happens rarely if I use my pointy fingers while the pro1 is e.g. on my bed). I am not as good with my thumbs. Gonna

  40. For once the delays are because of factors 100% outside of their control. Sure it sucks as always, but this time it's absolutely understandable. Previous times the delays were always because of things either they or their partners had some control over, or they could've anticipated.

  41. Alright, I downloaded LTE Discovery app which is VERY helpful, so thank you zurvan2. According to that app, they are both connected to the same band (LTE band 4) and the same tower (I think?) but one has 4 bars and one has zero. The dBm measurements are not THAT different, at least not what I believe would enough to warrant 4 bars vs zero... But when I, for example, throw it in my local faraday cage (aka unplugged Microwave) the Blackberry goes to -118 dBm on band 4 and reports 2 bars of signal, whereas the Pro1, when on -104 dBm says zero bars. So does the bars relation t

  44. ...And on the value part. Before people think that is a huge profit, remember this is the value of pure raw hardware out of the factory. The margin up to the sales price has to cover all the common base cost like he development costs, financing plus all other F(x)tec costs. And then licensing, delivery, customs and taxes are on top. For a low volume product as the Pro1, these base expenses makes a huge impact on each device (On a millions selling device they would be spread out to a few dollars each) A guessing calculation: Let us guess they are selling 20K devices, this would mean

  45. Hello, Initially Fx tec mentioned that, if the demands is high, there might be scandic keyboard phone by December 2019 after they fulfill all the preorders and normal availability of qwerty and qwertz layout phones. However, since the normal qwerty and qwertz preorders have not fulfill yet completely, I am afraid what is the future of scandic keyboard now. Are they still going to make scandic layout? I currently need a new phone therefore if they are going to make scandic model, I will buy a cheap 100 euros phone for few months and buy scandic pro1 later. This way I will

  46. As i just ran into trouble while applying the screen protector that came with the Pro1, i would like to discuss a safe way to do it. There where no instructions included with my protector. Since there are many different types of protective films, first of all it helps to know that the one supplied is of the variety consisting of 3 layers, 2 protective layers sandwiching a very thin rubbery actual protective film that wraps around the curved screen when all is done. Had i know that, i would have not tried to peel that tiny white sticker off the upper protective layer which i assumed to be

  47. I discovered this phone a few days ago and I've gotta say: it's the first time I've been excited for a phone for a long time. I thought the days of the hardware keyboard were numbered, but it's really wonderful to see a company trying to keep the dream alive. So congrats and thanks to F(x)tec. I do have a concern though - and it's currently preventing me from placing a pre-order. My concern is the keyboard layout. From the product images, I see that the letter keys on the keyboard have been moved over to accommodate the symbol keys on the left hand side. But why have these keys been placed

  48. This is a very interesting suggestion. If the Chinese layout proved to be in a high demand, we would certainly consider it. In the future perhaps if we can make user to do custom mapping, maybe we can just make the alternative printing / keypad and user can swap them on. :)

  49. I would like to see an HDMI or other video-out optimization where the touchscreen could be used as a mouse and the keyboard be obviously used as a keyboard. on top of that, I would also like to see a similar functionality where the phone could be used as a Bluetooth keyboard/mouse for other devices whether it be a computer, tablet, or another Android phone. preferably that functionality would be in standard HID and it be not necessary to download another app or program into the other device. I like the idea of this phone being an ultimate control device and I believe this kind of functional
