  1. You've already received some answers. For me, it's just a matter of convenience. Verizon has hands down the best coverage in our area and anywhere I have gone, but I don't travel much. My wife is on Verizon with her Pixel 2XL and has no intention of changing. Both of us have Prepay plans, but because the are managed together, we save $10 a month. It seems silly that I can't use what the phone is equipped for. On the other hand, I knew this was a possibility. I knew having the radios was no guarantee, I'm familiar with the Verizon's behavior. I could go get an AT&T prepay accoun

  2. Just want to update this thread. FxTec has resolved my issue. And I really really happy, because I was looking really forward to this device and it is everything I have hoped for.

  3. @david is absolutely correct as it applies to me. I only have Verizon service at my house. I'm in the hills and their LTE sites aren't reachable (they are only along the main access road into the hills and not on a mountain top like the CDMA sites). I have CDMA service for both voice and data. There aren't any other carriers which work at this location, this is my only option. I currently use a Droid 4 locked onto Verizon's CDMA system and it works perfectly. It would be very nice to be able to use the Pro1 in the same manner. Outside of the hills surrounding the house, Verizon has

  4. The reason I want to use Tello, a sprint mvno, is they're cheap, and unlimited 2G data. I already have a freedompop (at&t mvno) sim in one slot, but want more coverage, and willing to pay tello for that, and planned to do so since before I received Pro¹, and was disappointed when it failed Tello IEMI check, but havent tried going to actual Sprint store yet. Previous to this, I used Motorola Photon Q. It is CDMA device, with internal SIM for the one Sprint LTE band it supports. Until last year I had kept them activated with various Sprint MVNOs that kept going out of business. Ring

  5. This isn't a Pixel device and FxTec is no Google. You'll be lucky to just get support equal to other manufacturers. Read the Lineage wiki. I'm sure this is covered in detail. Hint: extract-files.sh. If you need to do a full factory restore (you won't if you are careful), just grab the latest fastboot package and flash it, then "fastboot -w" to erase userdata.

  6. @sixaxis , you could add a number 8, see mail posted yesterday by @Raksura above. When they say nothing: people are whining When they say something without a when: people are whining When they try to give a vague estimate stating that it is out of their control. people are whining When they tell that the supply lines are working again and production and shipping is expected to be resumed: People are whining too ?!?!? What do you expect them to do in the current situation?

  7. I agree with @Craig on this subject. I have been told my F(x)tec that it would 100% work on a CDMA network (prior to ordering). I also agree that the reason it won't make a CDMA call is because Verizon (or Sprint, or whomever) won't allow it to register with their CDMA network. If one were to change the IMEI to that of an approved device, I would like to believe that F(x)tec is correct and it would register, and work, on Verizon's CDMA network. It certainly has all the specs to do so. My Samsung S8+ (also w/the Snapdragon 835 SoC) came as an AT&T carrier locked GSM phone, and didn't l

  8. It is more fragmented in the USA. Big cities generally have all the providers, but even there, some may have more frequencies/bandwidth than others. But once you get outside of cities, there can be vast areas with very poor coverage or even no coverage.

  9. I'm just curious how big this batch will be 😀... I placed my order in January ( so I know I can't complain yet ) ... but I am a glass half full kinda person, so I'm kinda excited that the factory is getting back to work ( hopefully everyone is staying safe )

  11. I forgot to report that I got them too, last week or the weekend. They are definitely vinyl too. You have to be careful taking them off the sheets they are stuck to or they stretch and then don't want to stick anymore. I'm all set...now I just need about 160 Pro1s. That many phones should last me until I'm non-operational....unless I reach escape velocity and stay on the right side of the life extension curve. Even then, at 2 years for each phone, I figure I'll be good for a while. Now to find a box on the side of the road that fell off the fxtec truck....

  12. I just got my shipment of 1600 black dots from the UK. It's 8 sheets of 200 dots. They look perfect for the Pro1 screw covers. Whats more, I believe cutting one dot in half would work for the keyboard corners. Lol. 1600. 😄 😎

  15. Can we get a website similar to what Google gives for its hardware binaries and firmware images, like so? https://developers.google.com/android/drivers It would make it way easier to support the community and the development of alternate ROMs, or to roll your own without having to: Is there a walkthrough for pulling binaries off a device? What is the procedure to factory restore a device if you brick it when making a ROM?

  16. Just to add to this, but not sure what you are going after... The CDMA blocks are assigned, and categorized, in "band classes" as opposed to LTE "bands." There are only two band classes used in the United States for CDMA, BC0 and BC1. BC0 is comprised of some the older AMPS/D-AMPS 800 Mhz frequencies (mainly 860-894 Mhz down from the site). BC1 is comprised of the original 1900 Mhz PCS frequencies (mainly 1930-1990 down from the site). That is all there is for spread spectrum CDMA Verizon use in the US. All Verizon's voice calls (and SMS texts) are circuit switched CDMA, similar

  17. Here's what I wound up with that is working quite well: https://www.xmpow.com/collections/car-phone-mount/products/mpow-127-gravity-car-phone-mount-air-vent-phone-holder I like the gravity style holder for quick placement and removal. It seems to be available as vent mount or window suction cup mount as well. The spacing of the prongs at the bottom is wide enough that the USB port isn't covered, so I can easily plug it in for long drives.

  18. I grant you that "making a mistake" is a third option beside "stupid" and "malicious"... But it never did in the first place. In judging the case at hand, we have a large bandwidth of possible assessments, with two extremes – one extreme that fears the end of the world, spreads panic and has bought truckloads of toilet paper, and another extreme that doesn't see anything worth noting except that everyone else are fearmongers and panic spreaders. As usual, both extremes are wrong, and, as usual, science and the professionals of the involved fields are the places where the most sensible

  19. If we want to keep up the assumption that you're not stupid, you're giving us more and more reason to suspect that you're purposefully and heavily distorting the truth to advocate your ideology, spreading lies to influence people to behave in a way that follows your personal ideology, thereby endangering others. My numbers are not "order of magnitude low". They're from the exact same source you're citing. We can only compare confirmed deaths with confirmed deaths, which is what I did. You, on the other hand, are trying to compare total estimated deaths of the swine flu, estimated after it

  20. Have you looked at the specs for this phone? We have all the CDMA radios and bands. Verizon not activating us doesn't change the fundamental fact that this phone is indeed a CDMA device, and can operate without LTE or GSM. From site homepage:

  21. Just wanna take issue with that. This phone supports GSM & CDMA. I'm still hoping to activate 2nd SIM on Sprint MVNO... Just cuz Verizon hasn't approved Pro¹ (yet?) for use on their CDMA network, doesn't mean the phone doesn't support CDMA. I do understand that people are using Verizon on stock devices with just LTE (without GSM or CDMA) with a SIM card first activated on another device, but for that workaround to be effective, need voice over lte working.

  22. I do not have Verizon, so I cannot really fix it. It would be great if we had a developer that did use Verizon. But if none appear within the next few weeks, I'll probably need to have a Verizon SIM card sent to me. However, as this is a GSM phone and Verizon is a CDMA carrier, I see this as a sort of "extra" functionality -- an enhancement request of sorts. It will take a back seat to getting all the other bugs fixed and official builds running.

  23. I, for one, don't think you're stupid, you're obviously intelligent enough as your factual knowledge of and insight in the subject matter clearly suggests, but you've decided to stop thinking halfway through, and to ignore each and every factual aspect of the current pandemic that would get in between your mostly ideological conviction and the facts, especially those facts which affect the wellbeing of other human beings who don't share your ideology; an ideology you're obviously intent on advocating publicly, trying to influence people to act less reponsibly and thereby to endanger other peop

  24. Well, I went ahead and tried. I'm now thinking this was reported before, but can't remember if it was for Verizon on LOS. I can confirm that Verizon will nor work on LOS. LOS fails to recognize that the SIM is provisioned for VoLTE and all the switched that provision it for the phone on the phone menu (*#*#4636#*#*) sta grayed out no matter whatother settings you play around with. I sure hope there is a solution down the road. Guess it's back to stock for me. 😉

  30. If you had been faster, you could have hoarded all the hand desinfection bottles, toilet paper etc and now sell them from the trunk of your car with huuuge profit. Or perhaps not yet but few weeks later. But speaking of cars, I noticed that fuel is significantly cheap right now, at least in Finland. Cant remember last time I have seen 98 octane for less than 1,5€ per liter (my T3 van eats it). Must be at least ten or twent years after last time. Also diesel was already 0,10€ less per liter than it's normal lowest price point. So good moment to hoard some fuel?

  31. Well, as much as I remember, the swine flu didn't have many symptoms and it wasn't lethal after all (correct me if I'm wrong). This virus really is different and way more contagioud than Influenza and other viruses. And considering the different death numbers there's a lot of room for panic, And I still think that they are so different because people don't get tested and 80% infected don't show heavier symptoms at all.

  33. Yeah, the update feels like it has tremendously improved keyboard useability. I thought I'd be stuck with non-responsive keys because it would've seemed a hardware issue but this is golden. No issues here!

  39. The update is great. The "multiple keys at once" fix has vastly increased my typing speed. Before I couldn't break 40 WPM before I stopped getting dropped keys; now I am 50-60 WPM on a good day. Thank you f(x)tec for fixing this! Before the fix, it was a great phone; now it is stellar.

  40. In theory, yes. But actually it isn't that simple; there isn't only "infected" and "not infected". Technically there is group of "infected", of which illness has been proven by corona virus test, and the other group is "unclear", which includes all the people with no symptoms. So it includes: a) healthy, not infected people b) infected, but no symptoms, which can further be divided to: a) no symptoms yet b) no symptoms to come These last two groups are most dangerous in hospital world, because they are mistakenly threaten as "healthy", so they can infect both staff and

  42. Background history Alright. So I broke my Pro1's screen. I don't know how the remaining scratches came to be, but the first one was the Pro1 falling off outside my bath tube (there was no water involved). I ordered a replacement as suggested on AliExpress. I ordered the screen on the 29th of December, it arrived on the 20th of January, I believe. I did not get to it until today. Replacing the screen The actual display seems to be the same as the one for the Elephone U / U Pro models. Replacing the screen is - probably - rather easy, though I managed to make some mistak

Everything still works but there is one crack across the glass. I just ordered replacement screen but I will also need those stickers. @Serolfic can you order some stickers for me?

  44. Well, when people are desperate they take what they can get, and besides, a nip on your hands and a nip down the hatch is more fun than just a nip on your hands. LOL I know a lot of you think I'm stupid to say this is all stupid, but where I live everywhere people congregate is closed by edict. I despise that. If people wish to take the risk, that should be their choice. If people wish to sequester themselves, that should be their choice too. Furthermore, this has still had far less impact globally than the 2009/10 swine flu, and the panic was nowhere near this great over that. Have we go
