  1. I've had my Pro 1 for 6 months now. I use it without a case or screen protector, just a black matte skin on the back to give the back a little texture. It has been dropped a few times. It shows no wear and is still as solid as the day I got it. The hinge has loosened a little over time, as I would expect, but everything still feels properly aligned. I think this phone has a long life ahead of it. πŸ‘

  2. Just to update everyone - I have received a new screen through the post this morning. When I get a chance I will attempt to replace it and video it for reference.

  4. I am now holding my QWERTZ order #33xxx in my hands \0/ If I understand correctly the first thing I should do is flash LineageOS on it, as the stock ROM has many unfixed bugs, right? Serial number is 12xx.

  7. I have not completely backed out the double-tap-to-wake (dt2w) changes from stock. That could be what you are seeing. I'll try to get that done for the next build.

  8. All Qualcomm phones have thermal protection built-in. I have never heard of a faulty thermal sensor, but I guess it is possible. The thermal daemon does copious logging to logcat, so it would be easy to see that. The most common reboot reasons for a production Qualcomm device are a cell modem fault and a kernel panic. The cell modem is completely closed source and cannot be touched, so if that is faulty, the OEM needs to fix it. Kernel panics are possible to fix, in theory, but first the issue needs to be identified with a kernel log. That can be tricky -- the best way is to d

  9. As TMO Forum is somewhat off-topic to the subject, then I post it also here - decided to offer my F(x)tec Pro1 for sale. Link to the original announcement is here.

  10. I use my own Pro1 since the very end of last year using stock firmware, I don't find it unstable at all. I also use two SIM cards in it, a private and a corporate one. What happened within that hour? I have heard about a problem causes restart in certain conditions, I also ran into it near a specific part of a motorway (near tunnels), but never at other places. It may happen to live in a place which is affected by this problem but I hope it will be repaired and I heard of other phones maybe with the same chipset which had a similar problem resolved. Also, LineageOS may worth

  12. Well, depending on the device configuration, a reboot may put the device into "ramdump" mode. This is a variation of EDL mode and can easily be mistaken for being off.

  13. It should have been. Have you installed all updates. The date on the last one should be 06 March,I believe, with a SEP 2019 security patch. Did you reboot after each install?

  14. Mine also arrived today. It looks really nice πŸ™‚ The only little annoying thing is, that the SafetyNet Test fails and many apps won't work because that. I thought this was already fixed.

  15. You can use Whatsapp Business for second sim, it's basically same app with few additional features.

  16. Not with stock no, Lineage OS does it though. However IMHO while at first tempting this feature is in fact not very desirable once you got used to the keyboard. Also there are a couple of alternative keyboard layouts available such FinQwerty or Fx Qwerty that can help you have better access to international characters.

  18. I'm also gonna hijack this thread and ask: Is it possible for me to long press certain keys for accents/umlauts? (E.g.: long press 'o' for 'ΓΆ') I have looked through some input settings and, after finding this thread, installed SwiftKey, which has some more settings, but still not this feature. If that's not possible: any other chance to get accented letters and umlauts usable? Also, for me, it worked out of the box after installing and setting SwiftKey. It recognized the physical keyboard and upon 'space' while typing it autocorrected the word I typed. Take

  19. Thank you very much. I just tried it. I love it, it works very well for the virtual keyboard, but I still can't make it work for the physical keyboard. I'm gonna keep trying 😁

  20. Hi there, Silly question, Is there any autocorrect with the physical keyboard ? It doesn't look like it's correcting anything at all when using it.

  21. It happens on every reboots. I usually don't restart my phone only sometimes because the system complains time to time about fingerprint sensor hardware becomes unreachable. However, I have first experienced it when the phone was running at low battery, but drained before I could charge it. When I powered it on, I experienced this behaviour, so I thought I need to charge the battery, then to remove the SIM and SD card, etc. When I could start it, it worked well... then after my next restart, it happened again and I had to wait it to start before I could use it. I tried some reboot

  22. Well @Hook is not experiencing reboots but shutdowns where it stays 'Off' until he turns it back On manually. That is why my guess was overheat protection. And unless the phone really is overheating (And he did not report that) that led me to guess at a sensor issue. Hence I was looking for where such an event might be logged.

  23. I agree. Even in my case, the network is never that bad. I mean, that just based to my experience, the reboots don't happen when the network drops completely off, but when it switches temporarily from lte to 3g or from wlan to mobile data. I know that if the issue was really be that simple, every Pro1 owner would suffer accidental reboots all the time. So it has to be something more complicated.

  24. Any android I have ever had, including the Pro1, starts back up again when it is forced to shut down by holding the power button for a long period. It is particularly good for an android device that is being bit glitchy, like a bettery pull used to be, back when you could pull batteries.

  27. Today was the best moment I've had with the pro1. I bent it with my hands, threw it across the room into a wall, I retrieved it and the thing was still on even though the screen was cracked, and the keyboard dislodged from the body! I pulled my sim and sdcard from the phone so I could finish the job. I took it out to my workbench and smashed it to pieces with a hammer. It was truly the most satisfying moment I had with the pro1. The spontaneous reboots for days on end and then stability for a couple weeks, only to start rebooting again. The ability of the camera to take one

  29. I used Nokia E7 for around 8 years and i used it extensively. But i dont miss E7 at all because it was very frustrating to use E7 primarily because of its obsolete symbian os and battle to find or use most of the apps, its poor camera and under performing hardware. Pro1 solved all these problems and life is now so easy with Pro1. The only worry i have is that i have only one Pro1. And hearing from so many of this forum about their Pro1 breaking, i am worried about the safety of my Pro1

  30. *sigh* I don't understand the mentality of people who choose to use their time for wit, instead I dunno...community service? Or reading a book to better oneself. I have a Unihertz Titan to pass the time, but no doubt I will be ready to buy into the Pro 1 the moment things start settling in. We're a niche audience: This is expected.

  32. These are really strange issues. But I have a strong suspicion that it is related to one or more specific bands. I have no idea if it is switching from that band to a weak signal or it is switching to that band with a weak signal. I mean if it was just a weak signal in general, then more people would have it frequently. Say when ever we go to a basement, or a a parking cellar or tunnel without repeaters. I have a friend living in a rural area with very weak signals for my provider, only able to use my phones in some rooms and preferable near the windows at one end, and seldom 4G, jus

  34. So I just got mine, and just an hour into it, I'm missing my Priv. Having a "full-sized" keyboard is good but it's not practical for daily mobile use. I find myself stretching to for keys on the left side because of the cluster of keys before the home row. Edge detection is horrid. I constantly accidentally activate the screen when using the numeric row, in fact I locked out my corporate account entering a password because of this. I feel using a curved screen was a very bad design choice here, you need more gap between the keyboard and the edge of the screen. Landscape usag

  35. Okay, this may have just hit the too annoying stage. It just did it again, third day in a row. But I learned something new this time because it did it while I was using it. The phone isn't turning off. The first thing that happened was the screen froze (wouldn't respond). Then the screen turned off. Clicking the power button did nothing. But plugging in a USB cable got me the musical note that told me it connected to my computer and the green light came on showing it was charging. So it seems that it's the case that the screen is turning off and refusing to come on so the only thing I

  36. FedEx is lying to me and saying they attempted delivery and I wasn't there. I am, not figuratively, camping in front of the house all day and night (working remotely during the pandemic). I'd be impressed if anyone managed to actually go to the mailbox without me noticing. While I do not tend to take being lied to lightly, having yet another "you're about to get the phone" followed by a "oh, never mind, new delay" has me ever so slightly upset. My phone is currently at the location indicated on the delivery attempt notification that was left in my mailbox. You know, the one that was neve
