Rear/main camera focus to infinity not work on LineageOS
Hook replied to fxtec-preorder-47xx's topic in Support
For the record, I don't seem to have this problem on LOS either: -
Being able to do a Nandroid Backup (which is not so much a new reason as the result of having decrypt).

Yeah, it's a mystery. If I had to guess, I'd guess there were plans for a search key and IdeaLTE worked it into the shortcuts, and then the key was abandoned and IdeaLTE never went back and cleaned things up. Either that or IdeaLTE just brought over shortcuts from another device and never cleaned them up. But, of course, I'm just guessing.

Auto-capitalisation on physical keyboard
Hook replied to MalteM's topic in Pro1 - Thoughts & questions
I guess I just don't use many apps that force portrait, and for the ones that do I just use split screen. Works for me. -
Auto-capitalisation on physical keyboard
Hook replied to MalteM's topic in Pro1 - Thoughts & questions
Again, in my case, my right thumb reaches 7,T,F,V without stretching. My left thumb reaches 6,T,G,V without stretching. I remember trying out the first Droid way back when and saying, no, keys too small and close together for comfort. Maybe I've got bigger hands than most, but finally someone has accommodated me. 😉 Also I hate screens that re less than 6". 😄 -
That makes two of us. 😉

I had it working on stock with Verizon (even when Verizon quit sending SMS which pushed me to go to AT&T, VoLTE was still working). In my setup, I could switch on VoLTE in the phone menu. I don't think iyt has anything to do with the device, although the device must be capable of VoLTE (which the Pro1 is). It doesn't even matter ultimately if the device is registered to the carrier (which in all cases the Pro1 won't be). I think those switches are available if the SIM has been provisioned for VoLTE by the carrier. In the case of Verizon, you have to use a mule phone (a phone approved

Auto-capitalisation on physical keyboard

Again, this is a matter of personal preference and various factors like hand size. I found the keyboards on all of my work issued BBs unusable and 95% of the time typed the sentence "I'll get back to you." 😄 I find the Pro1 keyboard a joy to use and these days snap it open for even the shortest text. At this point, I very rarely use an on-screen keyboard. So neither is superior. We just have to hope for many different styles of keyboard phones because one will never satisfy everyone. -
Years ago, back when it was hard to get good smartphones without a contract in the US, Expansys was the go-to distributor to pick up international phones, So they have a lot of experience with shipping and handling electronics for overseas distribution.

The accented chooser popup (or whatever it's called) is a known issue on the Github. I'm pretty sure it's a software issue with AOSP keyboard which probably needs it's threshold for long hold tweaked (It pops up too quickly, making it easy to trigger when you are just being a little hesitant on the keys. I've had it pop up, but not often anough to drive me crazy (maybe because I'm already there). 😉 I don't know if AOSP keyboard needs to be tweaked or if something it is operating off of is what needs the tweak. Haven't experienced the wrong letters thing, ot at least, more than normal w

WiFi Hotspot works fine here. I'm on the 7/27 Nightly (official)... I don't have a lot of reason to use WiFi Hotspot anymore since I am home so much, so never tried on earlier versions. But it sure works fine now.

I did see this in Firefox as well, but ignored it for 3 reasons: These things tend to produce a lot of false alarms particularly with unfamiliar software. I'm not using the file on Windows but installing it on a phone and I don't believe a windows browser knows what is harmful on a phone I assume this is the same file that has gotten good reports after being installed OTA. I sideloaded it and it is working fine. 🙂

I think this thread needs reviving. 😉 My dog Helga (Small, brown, a Bulldog-Pit mix) and her BFF Lulamae...

As someone who could not have been happy on stock without FinQwerty, I confirm @tdm's assessment. FinQwerty isn't needed on Lineage, at least if you are using U.S. QWERTY. Can't speak for other layouts. I can't say if FinQwerty would work on Lineage. Never tried either.
-
I didn't quickly find an on-point thread using search unless we hijack the " mapping different chars to qwerty keyboard thread." Might be better just to break the posts out into a new thread, something like "Pro 1 Keyboard layout issues and questions." Feel free to come up with a better title. 😄

So "/" and "?" are "device specific features?" That is what is incorrect behavior and incredibly inconvenient for the user. Luckily, the yellow symbols on the top row can be redirected to shift, but the insanely placed "/" and "?" cannot since they are on a letter key which is already making use of shift. I can't even imagine how they came up with such a scheme nor why they thought it would be a good idea. It's a human factors nightmare.

SatStat just confused the heck out of me. 😄 GPS Test showed a quick first fix time (00:05 the first time, 00:08 the second) with about 9-11 sats in use out of 18 in view. Most are yellow and orange, occasionally turning green briefly. On the Average SNR slider, floating around 18. I take all this to mean connection is quick but signal is not strong? I'm past my pay grade here, lol. Sorry, I'm not all that technical so it is hard for me to help.
-
I don't know what you use to determine fix-- I only ever use Google Maps and it always does a good job of telling me where I am and where I have been. If there is some app I need to tell you exactly what you need to know, let me know and I will test.

Can you run/install GrapheneOS on the Pro1 ?
Hook replied to internationaltraitor's topic in General Discussion
I would assume someone with a Pro1 would have to port it. There's certainly not been any talk of that that I've seen anywhere. -
I don't use anything that requires safetynet on Lineage, which apparently includes my banking app. I am rooted and I don't bother hiding it.
-
Lineage is definitely not alpha. As of the official version, I wouldn't even call it beta. It is a full and stable alternate version of Android tuned to the Pro1. It will now get security updates as they are published and tweaks will happen as new things are discovered. And, no, dual boot is not possible on the Pro1

Hmmmm. Interesting. Do you know that your SIM is VoLTE enabled? And I assume you have VolTE coverage?
-
Except, on stock with a VoLTE enabled SIM, you can switch those sliders on and for those who have succeeded with Verizon (including me during the period it was working), that is how you got Verizon to work. So, yes, it must be capable. That's not to say it couldn't b badly implemented. I have no idea.
-
If you have your last phone still and it is VoLTE capable, use that phone to get them to enable it and then transfer to the Pro1. That's a trick used with Verizon. Might work for AT&T. On the other hand, they may not care what the phone is-- they don't for Prepay.
-
Again, I'm not really technical on this, However, if you dial on the phone pad *#*#4636 #*#* and tap phone information, down at the bottom of the screen are a series of switches for provisioning of VoLTE and Wifi calling and such. These have already been switched on in the current test and official builds of Lineage, so you really shouldn't need to do anything. However, I think it depends on whether your SIM has been provisioned for these things. If you are using a very old SIM, you may need to talk to yourcarrier about replacing the SIM.
