Indeed; I've been following everything here for some time but this specific aspect is still unclear for me, too. Until some point my interpretation of what I read was that we'd get SafetyNet approved as soon as our LineageOS would become an official build, but now I'm not too sure, since somewhere else I read something that would require Magisk to enable it (while I would have thought Magisk would only be needed for root). Consider me confused as well 😉

Sorry for having to be this explicit, but everyone who complains about and rejects measures being taken against the free spreading of SARS-CoV-2 assenting accepts the sure death of millions of old and weak human beings on this planet, for whom there is neither vaccination nor cure as soon as they catch the virus. This is a danger and a lethality several magnitudes higher than with a cold, and still much higher than a full-grown influenza. Please read and follow what the professionals say on the subject. Having a strong opinion based on hearsay and the internet is no substitute for an ac

Neither seems to have Nikon, or if they do, it didn't help, either, as their new D6 flagship camera has now been announced to be introduced no earlier than May, instead of March...

Ordered September 20, no tracking number, no stock assigned. Didn't think of canceling. Waiting for production to restart.

The good news we can read from that link ist that the infection rate has already decelerated and continues to do so, so this epidemic's peak should be reached soon...

Yes, I'm using one of the tiny, first-generation Chromecast dongles for most of what I watch on the living room TV, and it has been such a decent experience over the years that I'm not even inclined to upgrade it. Android connects easily to those devices, and I either use my phone* or a tablet to operate the dongle, or sometimes the (Vivaldi or Chromium) browser on my Linux laptop. As others said, depending on whether you cast the smartphone's screen or use a cast-enabled app, the smartphone either streams its screen content to the Chromecast dongle over WiFi, or the app tells the Chromecast d

I've done some more 'research' and there are volume apps which offer separate control of notification volume, and I now tried two (arbitrarily selected "Volume Manager" by ByteHamster and "Volume Control Panel Pro" by LeeDrOiD Apps), but at least with the Moto Z3 Play both the ring volume slider and the notification volume slider move when I move either of them. It seems, though, that there actually are some devices which do not physically combine both, even with Android 9 (see this thread on Reddit which is about a different subject but proves that someone managed to control ring volume and n

@Craig Interesting question. On my Moto Z3 Play running Pie I have media volume, call volume, ring volume, alarm volume, but no notification volume. I This is my first phone that gives me the impression that i can't seem to find the optimal sound volume for all the different noises it makes.

I admit, from a functionality/usability point of view, that system-wide app-launching shortcuts are a sensible thing to wish for. If every launcher had the functionality, we wouldn't need to discuss it, but none except the F(x)tec launcher does. It's something you want to have without being forced to use a specific launcher. And while I had a hearty laugh reading the argument who else's job it would be to launch apps if not a launcher's, it's not necessarily a launcher's job to define what a keypress does, even if a concrete job may be launching an app. The question is, of course, whethe

Could have, would have, should have. Whether you understand or not, this is the only vertical slider phone you get at this point, you have no choice, and complaining doesn't make it better. Either get along with the few bugs it still has and wait until they've been fixed, WHICH THEY ACTUALLY ARE BEING RIGHT NOW WITH THE HELP OF BOTH FXTEC PEOPLE AND THE OTHER USERS HERE, or go look elsewhere. Whining about what they could have done better helps noone – at best it achieves nothing, at worst it keeps someone busy reacting to useless accusations who could use the time and energy to be produc

@akinwale: Just FYI, if I remember correctly, sending a followup mail to an unanswered ticket bumps the ticket to the end of the queue, which is a policy of the ticket system they use which they cannot change even if they wanted to...

I know. Still it's no use to get upset, which is just bad for your blood pressure and won't help you get your phone one second earlier. Ordered in September and still waiting. After not getting it for Christmas, which had seemed possible back in November, it's now clear I won't get it for my birthday, either, which is early February. But getting upset about that, or about others getting it earlier than me, won't bring it on earlier, either. Again, mistakes happen. Especially in startup ventures like this. It could have completely failed with us having to take legal action to

Sometimes it helps to remember that people make mistakes. What answer do you expect (and how would it help anyone)? "Right, let me see... Oh yeah, we deliberately delayed Siani_8 a few weeks more because we didn't like his nose"?

It is not a global phenomenon (yet), so applying a "global scale" to the numbers can only serve to downplay the phenomenon. And "country" is not a valid benchmark, either, as countries tend to arbitrarily differ in area and population – in China, only a relatively small part of the country is highly affected, whereas the area would include all of Germany and more, if the hot spot would have been in Germany.

Chinese phone maker TCL took over when BlackBerry stopped making their own phones, now they call it quits: https://www.theregister.co.uk/2020/02/03/tcl_will_stop_making_new_blackberry_phones/

While you may be right in stating that some news tend to be exaggerated, the 25,000 fatalities in Germany's 2018/2019 flu season were an extreme outlier. Between 1998 and 2015, the number of deaths through influenza varied between 66 and 447 per season. The coronavirus outbreak is something completely different, and it is definitely no fun – just as the SARS outbreak in 2002/2003 wasn't, which it has already topped in dangerousness.

Now that you mention it, how about a feature request to run OS/2 on the Pro¹? 😉 (Just joking – I've been an OS/2 user at home for most of the nineties, then reluctantly moved to Windows, and finally have found peace with Linux 😉)

Ordered. I expect them to arrive before the phone, then 😉 I never was fond of screen protector foils, but after managing to badly scratch my current phone (Gorilla Glass!) which I had hoped to sell for a decent bit of money, I guess I'll play safe with the Pro¹... And these deserve support if only for explicitly naming the Pro¹!

Yes, this has already been discovered and actually seems to be a wrong wiring. We hope there will be software fix...

HTC Wizard series, Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 (also made by HTC), both running Windows Mobile (see here)!

Tried it with my Moto Z3 Play, seems to work and doesn't even need root. Works by overlay (needs "draw over other apps" permission) like the various night mode apps but doesn't also change color temperature.

Neither mobile network nor wifi strengths look like what I'd expect, considering your circumstances. Drastic changes in signal strength just by taking up the phone into your hands aren't normal, either, to the best of my knowledge and experience, at least not in such a close proximity to the signal sources. Not having my own Pro¹ yet, this looks to me like there's something wrong with your specific device anyway.
