Before the Chinese New Year when we ship the last big batch, we actually have also produced certain stages for the next batch. In fact that will cover almost all the pre-orders. However because of the virus no one knows when the traffic is re-open and people can get back to work. But I want to let everyone rest assured that the product is indeed there its just waiting for the people to get our of the currently lock down situation...10 points

@sequestris, you inspired me to try the clear case on front, and I was curious about @EskeRahn's concern of two cases fighting each other for grip in the gap between screen and keyboard, but at least with this combination of cases they seem to hold snugly while open, while closed, and while actively opening/closing! It's very promising! Also -- at least for me, this DRAMATICALLY improves my ability to casually flip it open, without having to think about it so much.5 points

That will be up to you to decide. If you are hesitant, wait for a few days after I release test3 tomorrow and see what others say. But I believe it will be mostly on par with stock except for the FM radio.5 points

Ive bought it from someone. And Fx Tec in the email confirmed me that the warranty goes with the phone not person and so they also confirmed that therefore my pro1 is still under warranty based on pro1 serial number4 points

Yes there is! Problem solved (for me at least). I had the very same problem (continuous "too many attempts" warnings even caused hiccups for my banking app...) and I stumbled onto an excellent fix. Go to the Play Store and install the app Admin Control by Dave Hewitt. Very simple small app, totally free, no ads, doesn't use internet, open-source (Github). This app has just one on-off switch and what it does is very simple: it disables the fingerprint sensor JUST for the lock screen. Meaning that on a locked phone the fingerprint sensor is inactive, but once the phone is unlocked, the4 points

I bought a Pro1. Wasn't thrilled with it. Had some "me" issues. Sold it. Person who bought it had technical issues (USB not working and other things). They sent it in for a replacement. They were specifically told (and there is even a thread for it somewhere) that warranties go with the phone - not the person.4 points

PS: Preferably remove and insert the tray with the display facing downwards 🙃4 points

test3 is up on my server. I haven't fixed FM radio or the fingerprint reboot issue yet, but I'm tossing this out because it's been way too long since any updates.3 points

clacker? edit: realized that if the Pro¹ hinge mechanism ended up becoming known as the clacker, people might mix it up....3 points

Bump. As of today, with latest updates it's still only L3, which means that, for example, Netflix will stream only SD quality video. Are there any more recent news on the timeline for L1 to be available?3 points

Thanks for the suggestion Slion. I bought the same one. Here is the Amazon U.S.A. listing that I used. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07DFP6P35 I used an Exacto knife to trim away the plastic rim that holds the phone. Very easy and now I have access to the ports. I have been using this case for a couple of days and I am very satisfied.3 points

...I keep coming across these 'universal' bumper cases that are basically rubber strips with extra padding in the corners. Think they could be modified to possibly fit both halves of the Pro1? https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32868048401.html3 points

This is part of the nature of this type of slider. If the screw is tighten you will not be able to open the slider. I can show you a brand new Nokia E7 would do the same rattling, even it's much smaller in size (which in theory should rattle less) In fact no one would type with keyboard while shaking? Have been asked similarly in multiple times, it's the nature of this slider type, not quality issue.3 points

For once the delays are because of factors 100% outside of their control. Sure it sucks as always, but this time it's absolutely understandable. Previous times the delays were always because of things either they or their partners had some control over, or they could've anticipated.3 points

Sorry I don't actually know what's going on with Verizon or VoLTE. I use AT&T and old fashioned GSM voice. But after things are stable in a few days, I can start investigating VoLTE.3 points

@_DW_ That answer isn't very helpful because she asked "how" to do it. The appropriate response would have been Settings --> System --> Reset options --> Erase all data. 😁😂3 points

So this is a bit of a "Huh" moment. @david recommended this clear bumper to me. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07L2SQLRC?ref=ppx_pt2_dt_b_prod_image I just got it today and put it on. He had told me that some mods need to be done to get the buttons to align and the ports to be easy access. I was trying to upload some pics to my PC and pried it off and stuck it on the front. You know what? YOU CAN TYPE THROUGH IT! YOU CAN TOUCH THE SCREEN! You know what? I can flip open the phone - with ease - and the entire screen is protected. Sure there is a cut out for w2 points

Yes, this is what I'm most excited about. Being able to bore out the main swiss-cheese "lens" portion, to be left with only a "surround" of rubbery protection, helps open the device and reduces edge-of-touchscreen accidentals. In theory, anyway. It's lucky that the vol / pwr / etc. buttons are NOT on the top brick (screen), because cutting out the entire screen portion AND extra button holes might make it too weak to rely on. Top-brick: Cut main face, leave sides intact. Bottom-brick: Cut sides for ports, leave main face intact (or small adjustment for camera). Seems legit! I don't mean t2 points

And actually the old 'standard' was officially named "mini" as the full sim was/is credit-card size (e.g. used by the old StarTacs). And most often when you get a new sim today you will recieve a nano in a micro in a mini in a full sim, that are nested like the Russian Babushka dolls.2 points

Same here! Mine doesn't rattle in open position. Only noise that I can hear comes from flat cable (in closed position) and SIM tray. I am very satisfied about the quality.2 points

Try to insert the corner of a paper tissue while opening, and you will see it most likely disappears. It will do the same as the red self adhesive felt shown early in the thread.2 points

Consider that the phone you are using is a relic (we're talking "it belongs in a museum" here, as did/do a lot of the phones customers looking for hardware keyboard had/have), it used to fit your needs, but these grew and the phone is starting to have a lot of problems. Here comes the Pro1, pretty much a direct upgrade, you can still do all of what you are currently doing and more. Problem is, it's not cheap. You already paid for it, and there's no real replacement for your current phone on the market so you can't just buy a cheap one in the meantime (or you simply don't have the money to2 points

More, "...that you have read and agree to...", that's shortanable to "...that you have ... agree to..." which is wrong. It should be "...that you have read and agreed to...". Also it should be "I have read the Privacy Policy/Consent Form. I'm assuming they also meant that those checks mean you agreed to the policy and form, but technically they don't. It's pretty bad.2 points

@Polaris Thanks for all of your help looking into this! I did check the issue tracker but was thinking my issue was different than the one I saw on there. Sounds like we'll have an awesome Lineage ROM soon! Thanks to @tdm for doing a lot of work and the test builds!2 points

...Or maybe you confuse a startup with a multi billion company? Please mention me just ONE device principally different from what was on the market, that was released flawless. And yes, do also include if from one of the multi billion giants. If you do not want a device where the software is not polished, you seem to have made a rather naïve choice to pre-order, and not wait to say half a year after general release, to allow for the bugs found to be ironed out.2 points

Alright, I downloaded LTE Discovery app which is VERY helpful, so thank you zurvan2. According to that app, they are both connected to the same band (LTE band 4) and the same tower (I think?) but one has 4 bars and one has zero. The dBm measurements are not THAT different, at least not what I believe would enough to warrant 4 bars vs zero... But when I, for example, throw it in my local faraday cage (aka unplugged Microwave) the Blackberry goes to -118 dBm on band 4 and reports 2 bars of signal, whereas the Pro1, when on -104 dBm says zero bars. So does the bars relation t2 points

I hold it like this, resting the index fingers on the ends of the support plate people with even smaller hand can shift this as much as needed to reach across the keyboard. Here an extreme adjustment, where I can reach almost the entire keyboard from both sides.2 points

I think I'm now back where the original test2 build was: - Cell radio works same as before (still can't make voice calls). - Notification light works. I still need to review and cleanup the code though. - Front camera works (I was missing some camera libs). Additionally: - I've added the keyboard layout file to the vendor partition and that seems to work. I'll try to fix the FM radio and the fingerprint issue today. Both of those may be more involved. In any case, I'll have a test3 tomorrow at the latest.2 points

Nope, I won't send him a bill, he got the refund as requested. 🙂 It's working, so I'm fine. I'll also offer unbrick-services in my shop, probably free for users who bought from me and everyone else can get it reflashed for a little fee. Usually, it's not needed. If tdm finds the problem with the flasher and fixes that, everyone can do it himself 🙂 But in case someone isn't technically able to do that for some reason, I can help. Thanks goes to tdm for his awesome help and work 🙂2 points

I can already tell you from memory that the Pro1 does not support all of T-Mobile's bands.2 points

I am using my as my daily driver, but there are definitely challenges, at least some of which I hope will get better over time: 1. curved screen leading to lots of spurious edge touches - this has turned into the biggest ongoing annoyance. I'm trying to learn different ways of holding the phone, but that also leads me to worries of dropping the phone as it is heavy and if I'm trying to avoid the edges I can't grip it as securely. 2. the fingerprint reader constantly misfiring as a handle the phone. Here's hoping for the "reader is off when the screen is off" feature request. 3.2 points
