I made a leather pouch for the Pro1. I used cow leather, thickness about 2 mm. All the parts are glued with super glue gel adhesive which remains flexible. I made some holes to see the led and to get stereo sound! There is no flap for closing, just a gap that opens to let the device in and out. see pictures for the details. If you want to try something similar, make sure that the inner part is about 1 mm wider than the phone to ensure it’s easy to slide it out.5 points

a few things ive noticed 1. audio has static/cracking noise in full screen games. this is through the speakers or through earphones. havent tested BT 2. if i open teamviewer and try remoting to my pc the phone will hard reset. after numerous tries ive been able to get it to work but its like 1 out of 5 times. it does seem to connect as i get the message on my pc about the connection so i believe it has to do with rendering the video? 3. playing videos with MX player will occasionally hard reset the phone as well. the audio does not stutter. this was using the software codec (cpu3 points

Hey all, they have been slow, but understandable, I have to say they have been great and informative in my experience. I know it is a lot to ask but patience while they are handling a ton of requests.3 points

In these kinds of situations it may be worth sending the insurance company in question an e-mail and asking what they can do, I think.2 points

For now I don't think there's a solution for think, however I want to tell: the concept described is called "sticky modifier keys" if I understood you correctly.2 points

Smart launcher 5 works pretty well for me except that the switching between landscape and portrait takes annoyingly long. It does handle the different orientations well and navigation with the keyboard works too.2 points

Starting off, I know FR still uses mostly the AZERTY keyboard but who knows if they like this? I'm a Portuguese person who found out about this phone only yesterday. I'm very interested in it and, because of that, I want to propose a keyboard that should work well for latin-based languages. To make this economically viable, I believe many destinations require the same keyboard. Here are the keyboard layouts I believe should be able to fit in, in a single fxtec keyboard layout. I couldn't figure out what it had to with brightness. But indeed, if you meant try boosting brightness, the issue is resolved. That makes it a whole lot less annoying!2 points

Perfect! Just what I wanted. @Slion the keyboard shortcuts are no longer working with Swiftkey enabled. Even if I long press any key only the Google search opens!2 points

Is there no way to enable auto capitalisation for a new line and also auto cap after a full stop/ period? With this non sticky "shift" key, typing is more cumbersome.2 points

The virus outbreak is hitting China very hard. Everything is shut down for at least another week in the hope of stopping it from spreading. Somewhere between 10,000 and 100,000 are infected and it doesn't look like it's slowing down much. It's looking pretty grim... I wouldn't make any plans revolving around getting a new Pro1 within the next month or two.2 points

Too bad. My GUESS would be some pocket lint sneaked in somehow. But if I were you I would contact support. https://www.fxtec.com/support/2 points

As far as I know, second camera helps the focus system, so it may be faster then and not made to take photos using it.2 points

I've noticed that if my keyboard stops responding, rather than rebooting, I just tap j and it starts working again. I have done so multiple times since getting my Pro¹ on Tuesday and just thought I'd chime in.2 points

Updated 18 Aug 2020: Updated flashable package to 3.3.0.16. Many thanks to Adam Pigg who has fixed many bugs and implemented many featured including fingerprint reader and encrypting user data, which will be available shortly. Another change for this package is after flashing, user will be on testing repository instead of devel, it's highly recommended for previous users to switch to. Disclaimer: This is the unofficial community build of Sailfish OS, and it's still work in progress and in Alpha state. It is not yet suitable for daily use. Flash at your own risk. ...It'd be nice if we could get sticky modifier keys as an option, haven't used the keyboard enough yet to decide if I prefer the 'traditional' method of actually holding a key while using it, or the sw keyboard sticky key style. Giving people the option of either mode would mean they could just choose.1 point

I will be sure to do so, and let you know if there are any other keys that make it work!1 point

I was wondering if anyone else can confirm they see the following behaviour: The "Landscape orientation lock" setting, in Settings, Slider, seems to have an unexpected and undesirable side effect. At least, unexpected by and undesirable to me! That is, with that setting off, the virtual keyboard will always pop up when a text field is clicked, even if the physical keyboard is open. This happens whether the phone is in portrait or landscape. For extra info, I was experimenting with having "Lansdscape orientation lock" off, and found it useful, for example, for using physical keyb1 point

Thanks @lzb and @ermghoti for adding to the list. I can report that the one I bought does fit perfectly for length and has room to spare for width and depth. This is with a thin TPU case on the bottom half of the phone too. The magnet in the flap is just the right strength too. The clip is strong and there is very little risk of it sliding off the belt. The rotation mechanism is easy to turn. https://www.turtlebackcase.com/galaxy-s8-nylon-vertical-holster-case-metal-belt-clip-fits-bulky-cases/1 point

Hi, to start with, up to now I'm quite satisfied with the pro1. Even the camera under dark lite conditions performs quite well as opposed to some reports. No aggressive blur just some noise which looks much better than what one is used to from other brands. Three issues I still see is that all widget I add to the screen the 50% hight and are not resizable (get handles but always flip back to 50%) which is quit annoying with a filled calendar. The other is minor but when working on a remote terminal is that there is no ' symbol only back and forth ticks. I think this has to do wi1 point

Both my 4G SIM cards are working fine after setting up APNs manually: France - Sosh/Orange Germany - 1&1/O2 Actually it seems that all that was needed was for me to select the APNs. They are defined automatically but not selected for some reason.1 point

There is a bug in the driver also, as Sym is (currently) handled as a letter-key, not a modifier-key. That is holding it sends repeated 'make' codes.1 point
-
https://github.com/sds100/KeyMapper Indeed, I wanted to use the Symbol key for shortcuts but there is currently a bug in Key Mapper that's preventing it to work. https://github.com/sds100/KeyMapper/issues/2901 point

Yes the Fxtec long press launch, known as keyboard shortcuts. Which Key Mapper are you using? So maybe you can't use Fn + L combo as it would then disable "?" and so on...1 point

Interesting, you mean those long press launch from FxTec launcher. I would not know cause I'm using Key Mapper instead. Currently using that yellow arrow function modifier and a key to launch the apps. For instance: Fn + B : launch browser Fn + C : launch contact Fn + K : launch key mapper Fn + A : launch calendar/agenda1 point

As a frequent typer of Swedish, I can positively say that DE QWERTZ physical layout is "good enough" with Finqwerty. I'm sure I would be almost equally bothered to see non-swedish ÅÄÖ on the keyboard. And to make one swedish/finnish and one danish/norwegian would probably not be financially viable.1 point

Nope. It would need one with a higher hat, and possibly access to an underlying database1 point

OUCH! This is not good at all! I have never seen this behavior, but I also haven't loaded LOS on a Pro1 (yet) either. I wonder what would have happened if instead of reflashing stock, you just put the SIM card into another phone and flipped the switch, then returned it to the Pro1.1 point

I would vote for the option which means screen protectors are for cowards if it didn't include old fashion sexism. @EskeRahn Can we moderate that option to not imply half of the human population are cowards?1 point

How odd! But nice to know, and easy to remember too. J for when the keyboard is Jinxed. 😇 If anyone gets it on a qwertZ it will be interesting if it is the letter J or the same physical key (that is letter K on qwertZ)1 point

This absolutely sucks. Don't buy it. Crappy quality, and too short. Holes are nowhere near what we need.1 point

Yes, me too. I've been considering of buying F(X)tec Pro1 but I really like to know if there's a scandic (or Finnish / Swedish) layout coming or not. If yes: then I'll wait for it, if no: then I most likely will order Pro1 with QWERTZ layout.1 point

Got the phone a couple of days earlier than expected. I'm on T-Mobile prepaid. I have confirmed that the phone is indeed using LTE (using the LTE Discovery app) despite the "4G" in the menu bar. I too encountered the visual voicemail problem @jcz95 had, which is weird because it worked fine on my Pixel 2 XL (and the Google phone app on both devices are identical - same version). I downloaded T-Mo's VVM app instead to compensate (I am a Google Voice user anyway, so it's not a huge loss, but it's a bit annoying) As far as wi-fi calling, I see an odd phenomenon where I can searc1 point

Finally got Magisk installed properly. The issue was that I had an SD card in the phone, and Magisk manager automatically installed to the SD card which makes it not work. Hopefully this info saves someone else some trouble.1 point

I haven't taken the test yet, but it really depends on what you type. If it's RDP+SSH and +bash-related stuff, there is much more to consider: visible screen area while you type. Like... typing sudo apt get and editing config is simply painful with on-screen keyboards. Typing regular text works alright via voice and especially gboard. Though I like typing on the pro1 keyboard, because it usually doesn't vanish of I touch the display somewhere by accident (and that happens rarely if I use my pointy fingers while the pro1 is e.g. on my bed). I am not as good with my thumbs. Gonna1 point

Found the issue with the fingerprint reader. The hardware and Android keep separate lists of registered fingerprints. When you wipe data, Android list is cleared but the hardware list is not. Eventually the hardware has all 5 slots filled and won't accept any more. So the new data only exists in memory and fails to write to persistent storage. I'll investigate more to see how this is supposed to work, and I should have a fix soon. In the meantime you can delete the fingerprint files under /persist to fix it.1 point

Yes, this is what I'm most excited about. Being able to bore out the main swiss-cheese "lens" portion, to be left with only a "surround" of rubbery protection, helps open the device and reduces edge-of-touchscreen accidentals. In theory, anyway. It's lucky that the vol / pwr / etc. buttons are NOT on the top brick (screen), because cutting out the entire screen portion AND extra button holes might make it too weak to rely on. Top-brick: Cut main face, leave sides intact. Bottom-brick: Cut sides for ports, leave main face intact (or small adjustment for camera). Seems legit! I don't mean t1 point

That's because secure boot is not enabled on the device and the device behaves like a prototype. Usually that means that PBL will accept XBL signed also by a dev-key (or not at all) and XBL and onward stages will check if secure boot is enabled and won't bother checking for valid signatures any further. This is the usual behaviour for many other phones when they don't have secure boot enabled (are prototypes). I actually wonder if secure boot is disabled also on baseband. If that's the case that might pave a way to get the device working with Verizon.1 point

For once the delays are because of factors 100% outside of their control. Sure it sucks as always, but this time it's absolutely understandable. Previous times the delays were always because of things either they or their partners had some control over, or they could've anticipated.1 point

I discovered this phone a few days ago and I've gotta say: it's the first time I've been excited for a phone for a long time. I thought the days of the hardware keyboard were numbered, but it's really wonderful to see a company trying to keep the dream alive. So congrats and thanks to F(x)tec. I do have a concern though - and it's currently preventing me from placing a pre-order. My concern is the keyboard layout. From the product images, I see that the letter keys on the keyboard have been moved over to accommodate the symbol keys on the left hand side. But why have these keys been placed1 point
