Just looking on my memories page on Facebook. One year ago today is when I got my Pro1 Used up all my stickers as gifts. How long have you had your Pro1? Do you still love it?3 points

So I put in an order for a Pro1 over the weekend. I just saw that the Pro1-X was available again so I emailed fxtec and asked if I could upgrade to the X. They replied "News are coming about this on Tuesday, so please wait until then." Hmmm...2 points

My impression regarding the shipping estimate on the web page is that they stopped to bother updating it at some point, because they themselves were dependent on the estimates they got from their contract manufacturer, and the contract manufacturer from the estimates of their suppliers, and many times estimates which were made in good faith didn't hold because somewhere something didn't work as planned. Ok, they could write "unknown", but that would of course keep people from ordering... With all my being sympathetic to what they do including their errors, though, my impression after so m2 points

There has been quite a few Fulguris updates since my last post. While 1.2.x was mostly about the unique Sessions feature. The 1.3.x series is all about UI improvement and Material Design. I just pushed 1.3.4 to Google Play, it's already available for download from slions.net and it looks stunning.2 points

I love mine to the bits β€οΈ Been just a year too π and what a year it has been. It helped me recover from a long illness π€ It pushed me to start new projects such as Fulguris. It was with me when I went back to work ποΈ it is with me as I'm typing this, obviously π I'm hoping it will last me for years. I've stock up spare parts, well, a spare Pro1 and a couple of display panels. I want to see Chen and FxTec succeed. I hope they will soon be able to deliver new devices and eventually fulfill back orders but I'm not holding my breath TBH. Looking forward to get my Pro1X though.2 points

I'm pretty sure I received mine Dec 10th, 2019. It is currently at FxTec for a problem it developed, but I still love it and am going through severe withdrawal until it returns. π I even invested in a Pro1X.2 points

I've had mine just a bit over a year but don't recall the exact date of arrival, still the best phone ever <3. I feel compelled to share my stickers thread here :D.2 points

When I have replaced my screen, I forgot to check it along with adding an additional diffuser of RGB LED light. However, all of my screws holding the display assembly were loose...2 points

Hello, everyone. I'm not sure should I continue an existing topic or start this one. I would like to begin with saying that I'm really impressed and appreciate F(x)tec team efforts. When a small company is willing to do what the giants abandoned, it's worthy to respect. One should carefully read this forum before making a purchase, but then I thought I had no choice if I want a phone with a keyboard. So, I placed an order when my Blackberry finally died. Order page said (and still says) about 10-12 weeks shipping . 129 days later the order still had "processing" status. Unfortunately, I c1 point

Sorry I haven't hung out here much but when you have a phone that purrs like a kitten all the time... Had a great birthday on Saturday, My hubby made me this cake from scratch. (fabulous pics from the Pro1) Hope everyone is doing well and staying safe.1 point

Was there any confirmation from fxtec that the pre-christmas phone would be different from the ones that shipped in March 2021? I'm not seeing anything like that on the igg page, so I thought it would be the same keyboards. I tried emailing fxtec, but haven't gotten a response on it. Hoping QWERTY is unshifted, or I'll regret not having ordered QWERTZ1 point

I think you mean 2020. I think Chen and Eske were the only ones with a Pro 1 in May of 2019. π1 point

Just an update so you know what to expect MIckH. UPS refuses to deliver the phone unless I pay up front, which I have done now. FxTec also repaired the second phone. According to them the camera wasn't connected properly by a robot!? Pretty sure it's manual labour π€. They also replaced the screen which was faulty. The screen they sent me and which I replaced the day before. Anyway, the second phone was sent in 3~4 weeks later, and it's repaired 3~4 weeks later. They are consistent, I'll give 'm that. But, that message was from last Friday. This phone would be shipped via DPD. As of 51 point

Well happy to report, the rotation feature works nearly the same on LOS as it does on stock. I LOVE the haptic keyboard feedback. That elevates this device for sure.1 point

To clarify, my keyboard has a `/~ key between the Q and the Tab button. I wanted to see this launched so I bought the pre-christmas phone knowing there would be some "imperfections" After loading lineage on it, I am a happy camper! Love the keyboard, love the landscape mode, love the metal case. So what if I've shattered the screen already (after more than 10 drops). I'll swap it out later with my 3d printed bumper case comes in.1 point

I was able to see the device again and start a flash with the Q Flash Tool. I saw something.bin very very very briefly on the application window and then Unknown error. Someone please advise?1 point

When I'm normally writing it happens maybe every 5th or 6th time (which is still a lot with all the German nouns), but when I'm actively trying to do it, I can get it about every 2nd try. But good to see, that I'm not the only one.1 point

I have seen that too, but it is quite seldom for me though, so thought it was me that fumbled...1 point

I have another problem with SwiftKey (different from the one I described above) and wanted to ask, if it also affects others. I'm on LineageOS 17.1, but it would also be good to hear from people on other OS, if they have something like that as well. When I press Shift and the first letter at about the same time and then continue writing, not only the first, but also the second letter comes out capitalised sometimes. I can wait seconds before pressing the next letter, so it's not because I had Shift still pressed while typing too fast. Disabling SwiftKey and reenabling the AOSP keyboard solves1 point

Unless people post spam or outright lies, i'm not aware of things being deleted (nor edited in substance). There are loads of inflammatory posts in here. Especially on the delays and sub-optimal communication. It is not usually up to a forum-moderator to change the content of web-pages, if that is what you imply by the last line. Remember this is a user-to-user forum, and I'm just a volunteer. And as such I haven't got the details of their business. So even if I could change the pages, I would not have the knowledge of what to change it for....1 point

Yeah, that (and that it was listed as in development) is what prompted my inquiry. I really hope there is a future for it.1 point

Yep, see that corner in the right circle? That's where i ripped it with my bigass "wurstfingers" as us germans would say xD By the way, for opening the case without a scratch, one of those shaving blades that have a grip on one side and a blade on the other, also used for scratching stuff from automotive glass panels, works very well.1 point

I'll see what i can do, unfortunately i can't use the phone to take photos of itself while disassembled. But i had been planning on opening it up again to put a thermal conducting strip on the back of the battery, seeing how it warms up quite a bit during fast charging. I don't have any screenshot of the signal quality but beforehand you would almost never get any reception inside, walking by a radio/scanner you would not hear it transmitting. If i had any reception at all inside it was right at the window and then only like 1 bar of 4G, never anything else. Wifi connection was frequently1 point

By the way, I'm having quite impressive battery life on AICP. Although it wasn't too bad on LOS either, but nowadays I can easily have three days of battery life, with moderate use. Recently I set up a home server running Nextcloud+Pihole, and I have found Pro1+Termux an awesome combination for configuration and hacking via ssh. Due to this find, I have used my Pro1 two or three times more than I normally would. But even that increased screen-on-time hasn't decreased battery life too much.1 point

Thank you so much for sending a stack of these to our office! They're very helpful with repairs! π1 point

I have already tried numerous new sims from other providers, they all worked even worse. However there are good news, i just disassembled the device and made sure all the contact-pads for the aluminum case (which seems to be the antenna itself, gorgeous engineering!) have better contact and all the coax cables are in place - now the 4g reception is a lot quicker and i finally can take calls from my desk again. I now have a similar amount of reception at my desk that i used to have with my old droid 4 π So yeah if anyone else has those problems, you can disassemble1 point

It's a mystery to me how this has not been fixed a long time ago. I have my notification and phone volumes on the lowest setting and it is still too loud. Also, still struggling with speaker mode using the lower loudspeaker ... which is right next to the microphone and causes echo and feedback when the phone is lying flat on any surface. Btw., how does the LOS update process handle changes on /system? Can /system be mounted rw and files changed, or will this cause an update to fail? Afaik, the updates are not incremental ... but checksum errors or other mechanisms might fail ...1 point

This is the one bug I've been following over the months in this forum which bugs me most (excuse the pun). Because it has the potential to make the phone, when I finally get it, practically unusable for me as a phone. Both at home when I'm not alone and at work as soon as homeoffice will cease to be the new normal. I definitely couldn't use it to receive calls from work at home when someone's around because that would potentially violate confidentiality requirements. The only thing I can imagine to mitigate the problem so far is using a headset with a dedicated volume dial. Perhaps a poss1 point

Besides the very annoying smart lock bug, the phone audio volume is always at maximum and is not affected by the phone volume setting. Music and ringtone volume works, but phone call volume can not be changed. This is especially annoying when using headphones, because it hurts my ears and on regular phone calls the sound is so loud that it can be used as loudspeaker mode instead.1 point

Well, the inly significant difference was the lack of Win32 apis for x86 since it was compiled solely for ARM processors. Indeed, it was originally developed as MS's ARM Windows 10 development and was slated to ship on ARM tablets. So, in that way it is even less divergent than Windows 10 (desktop) since it is the Windows 10 ARM deployment. Either way, Windows 10 Mobile ARM or Windows 10 Desktop ARM will work in my environment as our tools leverage either since they function the same on both.1 point

Just published release v1.2.0 including tab sessions killer feature π It's quite a large code change. By far the largest feature I implemented in that code base so far. Use Ctrl+Shift+S to open the sessions menu.1 point

I've decided to get an Astro over the pro1(x) as its not really an upgrade (more ram and storage don't make any difference to my usage) and I wanted to back them making hardware keyboard phones need all the backing they can get π but I couldn't afford to be backing 2 phones this year. I am hoping 2022 will bring a new device to the Fxtec family and I will be getting that π (fingers crossed a 5.1" device lol) Be interesting which I find more usable I see it more Astro been for computing tasks (one I would take to work) and Pro1 the phone I would use at other times. I do have a cosmo communicator, it's shelved. I tried making it a daily driver for a month or so. It's not past the prototype stage to be honest. The outside screen is a gimmick that doesn't work but comes with MASSIVE downsides (they somehow messed up the android doze / deep sleep by implementing the cover display sync, it's an extra low power microcontroller that exchanges information with android). The mediatek performance is shit (like expect typical websites to literally stutter and hang while rendering). The battery life is awful too (thanks to the messed up android sleep, but1 point

Yes it is frustrating that we cannot adjust the call volume. What was the explanation for this? Is it a hardware or software issue? Did any of you manage to solve this? I have been trying to use a headset with dedicated volume key, but probably not the correct type, since pressing the volume key down, does not have any impact - volume remains high (under android stock).0 points

@milp Still waiting for my device, so I cannot contribute anything yet from my own experience, but I've been following this forum closely for a long time and I think that until now there never was a severe reception problem reported from Germany with its specific and limited usage of bands and frequencies (please correct me if I overlooked something or someone), while it seems to be generally accepted at this point that the ProΒΉ's overall reception quality tends to be not quite as good as with other phones...0 points
