See the easy fix I've shown at almost the bottom of this https://eskerahn.dk/?p=3651 Simply take a rougly 5x20mm piece of self adhesive felt.9 points

I agree that it is normal.... but certainly not that it is how it should be..... Luckily there is a VERY easy fix, as described above, It was one of the first things I did when I got my hands on a pre-production unit. And I showed it to F(x)tec at the London Event. (I even gave them some felt to experiment with...) I had hoped it had been handled in the released units, So the users would not have to do this individually. As there (obviously) is some tolerance in design, other strategically placed pieces can do wonders to get a more luxurious feeling. I had eight on the Pre-pro8 points

Thanks to the creator of FinQWERTY that adds its function. There were work carried out regarding the SYM key, that user can define 12 symbols and will bring up the selection box in text input when SYM is pressed. (Like attached) But then team is busy fixing all the bugs, and the development was postponed until the nasty bugs are squashed, which we are still working on. I will do best to continue the development of this feature!7 points

Yes. these wild conspiracy theories are getting a bit tiresome. You really have to have a Donald brain to think that they would produce and send well over a thousand extra units if they planned to run. I guess the next wave of posts we will see from these guys are that F(x)tec is behind the Corona virus, as an excuse for not delivering π€ͺπ±6 points

China has shut down all the public transportation at the moment to slow/stop the spread the virus. China has also extent it's national holiday for the Chinese New Year. There are still quite a few days until the official holiday ends, we will see how things goes in the next few days and will react accordingly. Luckily I got myself back a few days before the mass spread of the virus and the lock down of the different areas. (Otherwise I will be locked into somewhere for 14 days lol)6 points

I'm getting mine today....because I'm pretty, and because Hello Kitty loves me.6 points

I finally got my Pro1. Sorry about bad picture. My hands were shaking because of the excitement.6 points

@Anssi Hannula is a wonderful person and a very good developer. I wouldn't be surprised if your changes end up getting un-forked and put in the main tree. FinQwerty has changed from a small project to support Finnish entry to a big deal to fix every possible keyboard issue for every user in the world, and it's rapidly doing it. I tell ya.....if the whole world were Finland, the world would be a kinder, smarter place!6 points

Just checked my wireless controller. It connects to my AP's with two spatial streams. So yes, all antennas seem connected. Speed test also suggests that's the case.5 points

Wonderful news! Pro1 is here. Tracking status: Delivered, Monday 27.01.2020 at 14.42. I am on my way to home after work so I was not able to receive it personally. I just asked delivery guy to leave it to my mail box. Can't wait to get home to unbox it.5 points

I had fitbag.de make me a leather pouch back in September when we all thought the Pro1 would arrive soon(tm). So it's been sat in a drawer until last week, but it's nicely made, a good fit for the device, and the microfibre keeps the screen cleaned. As I've used then before for my JollaC, I know it will only get better with time. Sorry for the poor photo quality, and yes, I did ask to have it made with each side a different colour (Before anyone asks - the Pro1 is only sticking out of the pouch so you can see whats in it! When fully in place it is about 5mm5 points

How is making the app launcher responsible for launching apps a terrible design choice? I would actually find it rather odd if you could launch any app from within any other totally unrelated app. But sure they could have chosen to violate the logic of Androids work flow. But they have actually been making a point on trying to mess as little as possible with the system, to give people a close to stock android experience. I can hardly imagine an app supporting keyboard, where a long press on a key is not expected to give repeated keys. So for your idea to work you would require s5 points

1 Yes, the slider gets easier and you end up being able to do it one handed. There are discussions of this here including videos. 2. DDtW has been temporarily disabled to work out a bug. 3. Go to Settings, system, gestures and turn off Swipe up on home button.4 points

My package had seen places. It passed through Japan, France, then managed to sneak in a Fedex location in Cologne, Germany, then returned to Roissy, France, travelled to another France location, then to GrΓ’ce-Hollogne, Belgium, before finally arriving to Sofia. Here's a hope it arrives with some country stickers all over it. π4 points

That's completely normal and it's exactly how it should be. As the hinge is based on two parts which aren't symmetrical, certain angles will make more of this noise.4 points

Thanks for the tip. That actually helps a lot. The pro version is well worth it too. In fact, on an AMOLED screen this effectively lowers light output from your screen which is just what I needed. Still I hope FxTec will be able to improve on that, if only for better out-of-the-box experience. With this show stopper out of the way, it looks like I am going to switch to Pro1 as my primary handset as soon as I find a case that fits.4 points

That's why we all need to buy three apiece and get our friends to also buy three apiece. :) I have to say, @sequestris got 7 more people to order the thing. If each of us did that, well, the future is bright for clacks. :)4 points

Umm, NO. It would be very stupid of F(x)tec to knowingly change the default behavior to something that will act weirdly for a lot of users. It's better to have it work in the usual, if boring, way out of the box, and then let someone else design the unusually-behaving program and deal with trying to support the issues. Keep in mind that this is not meant as a UMPC, so PC-style keyboard shortcuts are not going to be expected by most users. On top of that, even on desktop operating systems most people don't use keyboard shortcuts to launch programs; they click something. The use case here i4 points

Just got the Pro1 today and somehow got it working on Verizon based on the instructions here. Context: I have an existing account with Verizon. I've been swapping my sim to new devices for years. I've been carrying my sim from Droid Turbo, Turbo 2, Moto Z force, Moto Z2 force, Pixel 3 and now to the FXtec Pro1. Steps I took: Insert existing active sim from Pixel 3. Skip initial setup step to setup network Connect to wifi Update to latest update go to dialer enter *#*#4636#*#* Enable all toggles under phone 1 Set network to LTE only3 points

Yes could have been handy, I only got a delete button, but I think that would be overkill. Despite some of the accusations could be seen as slander I leave some slack for rants, unless the staff feels otherwise.3 points

Nice photo composition! Those 'old' devices still look slick and futuristic to me. So far, the Hall of Fame for HWKB phones appears to include (in no particular order): Fxtec Pro1 (I think I need to start a wikipedia page until better editors can take it over) Motorola Milestone/Droid Motorola Droid 2(G,R2D2) Motorola Droid 3 Motorola Droid 4 Motorola Photon Q (one of the last phones before the great drought) Nokia E7 Nokia N900 Nokia N950 Samsung Galaxy S Relay 4G HTC Dream/G1 HTC Desire Z/Vision/G2 (someone b3 points

I haven't contacted support yet. To be honest, Erik's response above kinda put me off. But I have had success with some felt pads. Putting one where @EskeRahn suggested didn't seem to help so I have one pad in each corner underneath the screen. This seems to have greatly reduced the problem down to an acceptable level - not perfect, but a couple more pads might do it. I used felt approx 1 mm thick and double sided tape. Hopefully this will last.3 points

I don't agree. If some have a quiet(er) rattling, it can't be normal being that loud. Gladly, there is an easy fix, but I still don't like that the end user has to solve the problem.3 points

So, right now we're seeing an influx of a lot of forum post that are the same. Ik think it's about time the forum gets split up into its respective subjects instead of presenting it as one big single website. So, for example, a SUPPORT forum where people van post questions, which is separate from a TECHNICAL SUPPORT forum. It makers it all a little bit easier to see where's what and would probably stop the wild growth of more of the same kind of posts. @Erik, @Waxberry, @EskeRahn? Let's make the forum niet only a nice place, but also an easy one to find the info one needs!2 points

That was my impression. I'm wondering if they will peel up more than the curved ones would. I'm also curious which ones are more impervious to sharp things. I could certainly sacrifice a chinese one for testing. I bought a bunch of them. I could test it with knives, keys, corners of things, etc. All when *off* the phone, mind you. :-) I guess I could do similar tests to the fxtec supplied protector. Although, there isn't any way to get any more of those, so I'd be out of luck if that one proved to be much more durable. But other people could benefit from the knowledge. If they bo2 points

Tempted to vote "Other - I didn't get mine yet..." but considering the customs mess will hopefully be sorted out during this week and knowing I can't change my vote... As for what I plan to do is to mess with it at least a few days before I try to use it as a daily driver. Got a bunch of stuff I want to experiment with first, so having an always usable phone on the side still will be important. Apart from that, knowing all the oddities, I'm not aware of what would be stopping me right now. Unless it arrives in a broken state or something.2 points

Fixed! I wonder how much time I have before the forum software locks me out of editing that message. Hopefully I can bug @EskeRahn once it locks, in case people have more devices to mention.2 points

Mine is also the Nokia N950 the same as @sixaxis I have been using it for 4 years and was afraid of break the screen and not able to get it fixed. @kashifWhat is the far right device? The slider is originally from Nokia E7. My understanding is that they had guys from the Nokia E7 team working on the Pro1. AFAIK @chen started working on the Motomod keyboard possibly at least 3 years ago maybe more.2 points

My volume buttons and sim tray are wobbling quite a bit. Power and shutter buttons do not have that problem. There is a tiny bit of play in the screen when closed but nothing in comparison to yours.2 points

Mine does the same thing, maybe a little bit less than yours, difficult to say. I would say there is nothing to worry about, a little play is normal to prevent the mechanism from jamming or the parts from rubbing against each other.2 points
