Found the issue with the fingerprint reader. The hardware and Android keep separate lists of registered fingerprints. When you wipe data, Android list is cleared but the hardware list is not. Eventually the hardware has all 5 slots filled and won't accept any more. So the new data only exists in memory and fails to write to persistent storage. I'll investigate more to see how this is supposed to work, and I should have a fix soon. In the meantime you can delete the fingerprint files under /persist to fix it.

I am thinking of trying something like the following: to create the holder for the phone. Then I will use one of the real leather flip cases and glue the holder to it. :)

Hi, Does anyone know of a key shortcut for the Apps drawer? (The one you get when you swipe downwards on the Home screen). Ideally I would hit a key and then start typing the name of the app to launch, without interacting with the touchscreen. Do I need to download a custom launcher to do this?

I suspect something with the built vendor image is different than the stock vendor image. @Gigadoc2 mentioned a few posts back that he had to wipe after the switch, and I guess we now have two people that have confirmed it. I'm sorry for that, wiping data is usually not necessary -- even in the test stage. It should not be necessary again.

I've noticed that if my keyboard stops responding, rather than rebooting, I just tap j and it starts working again. I have done so multiple times since getting my Pro¹ on Tuesday and just thought I'd chime in.

Maybe I am misunderstanding. If you simply want to search your apps, hit the F(x) Tec Logo key from the home screen and start typing on the keyboard. I assume this works on stock launcher and isn't a Nova Prime thing, but apologies if I'm wrong.

Yeah, the included protector is just something. I managed to apply it with just two micro bubbles outside of the working screen, took me like 30 minutes to apply it. I would suggest to wear rubber gloves if you are just about to apply yours, otherwise the fat from your fingers will ruin the edges where you are holding the protector while you are applying it.

I have a pretty bad track record applying screen protectors and went without screen protector on the Moto Z for about 2.5 years. Nothing especially bad ever happened to the device and I tend to not drop them either. But hey, that thing still looks good as new. So I'll be living on the edge with my Pro1 as well. The soft edge that is. My phones tend to sit in a sleeve when not use. Scratches from daily use seem to be a non-issue as is and I don't trust a flimsy protection film to stop a real drop from doing its thing. I'm aware that it's still a bit riskier. I saw someone just tweeted they dropped theirs, landed on the screen. Chen tweeted back to send it in for warranty. So seems they're being quite flexible with warranty in general, as that's the kind of thing not usually covered under warranties in my experience... but I've had lots of experience with warranty following the device mfg date if you dont have original receipt or arent original owner, like western digital hard drives, compaq laptops (back in the day), my dustbuster... great companies often have a better policy than they're required to by law.

I bought a Pro1. Wasn't thrilled with it. Had some "me" issues. Sold it. Person who bought it had technical issues (USB not working and other things). They sent it in for a replacement. They were specifically told (and there is even a thread for it somewhere) that warranties go with the phone - not the person.

Nope, I won't send him a bill, he got the refund as requested. 🙂 It's working, so I'm fine. I'll also offer unbrick-services in my shop, probably free for users who bought from me and everyone else can get it reflashed for a little fee. Usually, it's not needed. If tdm finds the problem with the flasher and fixes that, everyone can do it himself 🙂 But in case someone isn't technically able to do that for some reason, I can help. I worked with @EvilDragon today and we were able to revive the device. The xbl_a partition was corrupted. This should have been written with the factory tool, so I need to investigate why it did not get written properly.

I switched from my Huawei P30 Pro after trying and configuring it for 5 days. Using it as my daily driver. Works fine and whenever I have both hands free and going to type a long text, switching to landscape mode. Without 4G (I have an old contract here in Germany, which does not yet include 4G) the mobile networks keep switching and are really horrible. Manually switching is better, but cumbersome. Luckily I got another sim I am going to use for data. So this should be fixed. WhatsApp is horrible when using speakers (so are some other apps) - I hope there'll be a fix eith the crackling / doubled sounds. I assume it is because of speaker + microphone position,

I put a matte screen protector on my devices these days. I don't care about the protective qualities, but the matte finish stops the screen turning into a smudgy mess and eliminates glare.

Alright after all the issues, I have flashed the "official" test3 zip on my device and wiped data. It works perfectly fine. @SteffenWi have you figured out the virtual keyboard issue? It works fine for me, from the very start when asked for a PIN on the lock screen. I just need to press the keyboard icon on the right side of the navbar and select "Show virtual keyboard". (I will try to make this the default in the future).

There is something funky with the Wifi driver currently. This seems to relate mainly to roaming. Usually, this sounds like you're hitting buffered data that's sent when a timer expires: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nagle's_algorithm Or you're just on 2,4GHz in a noisy environment. 🙂 I did however try myself with HE network tools. It gives me 1.23ms katency with 0.09ms jitter. This was measured over wifi on 5GHz only. If you want to stick with stock launcher you can download a custom app drawer like Pixl Drawer from Play Store. It is an additional app drawer and you don't have to change launcher. Then you can install Keyboard/Button Mapper and make a key combination (like function+F(x)tec key) to access app drawer. Edit: Pixl Drawer doesn't actually work on landscape so you might want to find other alternative from Play Store.

I had this placement on my Nexus 6p and loved it. Made picking up the phone and unlocking it a single motion. Rarely had to even think about it.

I'm not saying there is anything wrong with having something like that over the top. It just isn't my personal choice. I had one of the otterbox complete covered cases on my youngest daughter's tableT and phone for years.

+1 to placement being awful for portrait mode and generally holding the phone in your hand. Adding the part of the palm that triggers it most often as a separate fingerprint seems to make it less annoying 😄 But I'd still very much prefer placement as in first Google Pixel: round thing on the back, image attached. That would be perfect for index finger in portrait mode and left middle finger in landscape.

And actually the old 'standard' was officially named "mini" as the full sim was/is credit-card size (e.g. used by the old StarTacs). And most often when you get a new sim today you will recieve a nano in a micro in a mini in a full sim, that are nested like the Russian Babushka dolls.

The picture is likely a 'stock' image of one of the dozen or so other models they also sell in their listing. Also, the listing you linked is for the 'reversed' single latch design, that one might come in handy for people who might find the standard clip-over-the-front style latch gets in the way. The style EskeRahn apparently uses (and I'm considering) has a split latch design where half is on each side of the flip case, making it 'smaller' and less obtrusive.

I deployed my Pro1 immediately upon defeating Verizon's attempt to stop me from using it. It's not a perfect device, and I could go over my gripes if I find a review/impressions thread, but the only thing that gives me pause using it every day is durability, particularly the absence of any sort of waterproofing. I plan not to even leave it in the bathroom when I shower.

I am on Verizon, it is much better signal stability than the droid 4 however fun stuff time. hours at the store nothing was accomplished with good techs.... calling they said they give up even......next tech support guy registered me in as a fxtec pro 1 model qx1000 on the system. it HAD to be registered in the system first under and active phone to find the phone as could not find with imei alone me using a brand new multi size all in one sim had to go big size sim first activate in the droid 4 then pass over to the fxtec. THAT will still not get you on the network without

The crackling bug is supposed to be fixed in the upcoming OTA update. It only affect certain apps. It might depend on on the API used, in particular we have deducted that OpenSL and AAudio do crackle in an app where you can choose the backend, while AudioTrack and AudioTrack N do not. This may not be the only factor, however. Dunno about doubled sounds though.

Not going to screenshot, as I'm typing this on my computer, but first ever attempt with three mistakes (one quite large as I kept typing for a while!) was 49wpm on a Priv with a 98.5% accuracy. With a bit of thinking over 50 would be easy.

Widevine DRM L1 will be supported. Currently we are focusing on CTS, will try to include this feature in initial release. If not, this will be added on the first OTA update.
