Yes there will be an official lineage build. But first all the major issues must be resolved. And as you have found, there are a few. I think everything you mentioned is a known issue. Look on my lineage page for the git repos and issue tracker link. I'm working through the issues as I can. I do this in my "spare" time and I'm not paid except for having been given a device for development. As you may have noticed, I'm working on quite a lot more than just lineage. I've released a factory restore tool that has saved at least a dozen sailfish victims from bricking their d9 points

I agree. Keeping everyone save is way more important. But I can imagine many of the workers in china are not getting paid when they are absent. They will probably want to return to work soon. Anyway, to keep this thread somewhat complete, I'll post the newsletter from Fxtex, which arrived yesterday.5 points

Let's see, there are a number of games I play on the Pro1 Where Is the Setting Game How Do I Make This Stop Search Game What Does This Do Challenge The Volume Game Puzzle The Notification Light Game Holding The Pro Russian Roulette Can You Hear Me Challenge I find new games to play EVERY time I use it. It's such fun :D4 points

I haven't used it since years ago when it was "Classic Shell" but you can try "Open Shell" and see if it does enough for you. https://open-shell.github.io/Open-Shell-Menu/ I only use Windows for very basic stuff anymore and have no patience for tweaking it any more. I have all the programs I use on the task bar (including the depreciated "Command Prompt" DOS box they don't want you to use anymore) and, really, the task bar is my UI.3 points

Those secret special android based apps! I am aware some Android apps are linux based. I mean why not, its not that hard to make an android app out of an existing linux app if you know what you're doing. It's also pretty clear many SailfishOS apps are linux based. I mean, sfos is more linux than android; we have gcc, we can build from source on device and run it. That is a major step closer to real linux than Android. In fact, manhy linux apps just work on sfos already. Like other linux distros. I forgot why I started writing this.3 points

Keep all of the keyboard profiles unchecked. When you see the notification, slide it left or right partially and you'll see the notifications icon. Hit that and you can hide the notification permanently. Can also be done for other annoying notifications!3 points

No, the orientation thing is handled in the slider settings. The only things you lose in a new launcher are the assignment of apps to keys (which I decided didn't matter to me right now because it has the flaw of adding the key-presses from the held down key to any app that opens in input mode (like an app asking for a password or a document in an editor) and the particular way the launcher is set up to not stretch and distort widgets (which I don't find worth it without more features in a launcher).2 points

I had a similar issue with my PC; all fastboot commands would yield this error. I tried using my old laptop running PopOS and all fastboot commands worked fine. I later tried PopOS on my tower and still no go. Maybe something with IO ports being newer hardware?2 points

It has been disabled because of some problems it created. They are working on it. Don't know time scale, With the phone closed, yeah, power button or fingerprints. With FinQwerty (not to sound like a broken record) the Sym key will wake. I know the default keyboard started out with the Esc key being wake, but I'm not sure that didn't go away later. Been too long since I used the default layout so I'm fuzzy on some things.2 points

Hello, So I received my pre-order Pro1 a few weeks ago. But getting it setup and usable has been slow. My current Samsung Galaxy S Relay 4g slide is getting a bit old, still running Cyanogen as Lineage does not support it. As such its starting to have SSL errors everywhere and is quickly getting to the point its unworkable. My needs are simple, I need a decent input device (keyboard), root access (I really don't understand why anyone would accept a device they don't have control over), permission controls (Privacy guard works for this in Lineage) and all the basic things terminal2 points

I've seen it reported that the Pro1 doesn't come with its own recovery. There is a standard recovery included with the phone's firmware. I think there may have been some confusion due to the way you need to access recovery mode. To access recovery mode, you have to either: A) Hold down the volume up when you boot the phone (before the logo screen comes up) or B) Use "adb reboot recovery" from a connected computer or C) Boot into the bootloader (by holding down the volume down when you boot the phone (before the logo screen comes up) O1 point

Is this possible on the pro1? I don't see it anywhere in the settings. I have this functionality on my Priv and my Samsung tablet. It looks like pressing the power button or fingerprint would be the only ways currently?1 point

I second what @Hook recommended. I've been using Classic Shell for years. I know it's out of active development and someone else took it over I guess as Open Shell, but I'm using classic shell 4.3.1 with my windows 10 at work. I am holding onto Win 7 at home, where I also use it since the "new menus" are terrible IMHO.1 point

How odd htat you are not allowed to request the device-info?!? Can you send a "fastboot reboot" ?1 point

Nope, I got used to the mess, and added a bunch of sticky shortcuts in the taskbar, You can add a shortcut to the folder "C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs" and drag it close to the degenerated windows icon to the left, and here the small icon gives something close to a real start menu, and then remove all tiles from the fake start menu. (right click taskbar, toolbars, "New Toolbar", paste in the path. And then drag it all the way to the right, it first compresses your real taskbar, but finally pops to the right side, and then you can compact it by moving the sepa1 point

Yes, unfortunately there are a lot of protocols, and not all fall back in a smart way. AFAIK the new PD does not fall back to other fast charge protocols. It could be that it is as stupid as licence issues - but that is just guessing... It would be nice if the protocols were 'nested' so the device and charger just had to agree on the highest both supports.1 point

Samsung's fast charging technology is different than qualcomm's quick charge. I would have expected it to still charge, just not as fast. I have a number of chargers here I can test and report back.1 point

When I see the word Microsoft in combination with launcher, my immediate thought is "OH NO! Hideous tiles on Android too?!?!" but of course there are those that actually like that tile-mess, so to each their own. nice that we have variety.1 point

Ummm... actually no need for tasker. 1. Set rotation toggle for Auto/180. (one button allows for both portrait modes) 2. Respects slider and automatically reverts to reverse portrait. 3. DAMN IT... now I have to set the fingers on my left hand to the finger print sensor.1 point

well if you play around a bit with magisk modules and the phone does not boot. You can flash back the original bootloader and the phone will boot again. But the problem is that you can not uninstall the problamatic magisk module as the magisk manager is not able to see the installed modules. The solution is the so called "core" magisk version. https://forum.xda-developers.com/pixel-4-xl/how-to/magisk-modules-disabler-booting-magisk-t3990557 I used the aproach that disables magisk modules after flashing the patched bootloader. When you boot the device remove the problematic module, de1 point

I see, didnยดt know that there are some alternative apps based on Android and not gonna work with SFOS (oficial one). Thanks for teaching me ๐1 point

This sounds good to me. But how to do it? I think that it would be the best way that FXtec is the iniciator, or?1 point
-
Hmmm, when @ponzimeme mentioned Gemini.. Does anybody have a clue how many that devices uses SfOS? I mean the official, paid version? If there really is a fee, what the phone producer have to pay for SfOS support.. I am not sure if Planet really paid that, cause it is the same case as FxTec. Sure, they are bit advanced, they made already second phone (so they have to have a profit), but as @EskeRahn told, when the limit is (lets say) 50.000 phones, do you think they have reached it? Wee need to know all the conditions first! Otherwise it would be one huge speculation with many scenarios as the1 point

Provided it is a genuine card, you should be fine. Cards larger than 32 GB come preformatted as exFAT, and can handle file sizes greater than 4 GB. But you can reformat them for FAT32. You just lose the ability to have files larger than 4 GB. Now, as a separate issue, whether you can easily access the card through the phone, when the phone is plugged into a Windows 7 machine... I can't on my Windows 7 machine. If I enable USB debugging, I can get the internal storage to show up under PTP, but I don't see internal nor external storage when I pick "File transfers" (MTP) mode. Whatever happened to that prototype hard case? If it's not going into final production, I think they should decide ASAP to release the dimensions/manufacturer and so on...1 point

I agree that they went a little bit TOO "stock android" there. As the keyboard is THE main feature of a Pro1, I did expect a more polished Keyboard software. But this is all software, so it is just my lack of patience, and at the least we got workarounds for most of the keyboard issues with FinQwerty and Swiftkey until OTA gives a better experience stock.1 point

IMO, if SFOS wanted to establish itself as the defacto 3rd platform of choice (after the duopoly overlords)... They would concentrate on monetising the direct-to-consumer sales of their OS for these 5 devices... and they could charge a monthly/yearly optional support fee... and a higher fee per device for businesses to manage them...1 point
-
Not sure if SFOS would support APKs then, but I could see myself using SFOS instead of Android, so I'd pay for a good OS. But it'd have to be easy and most things should be working - then I'd buy a license and switch.1 point

If they need a specific amount that is not secret then crowd funding could perhaps be an option?1 point

It's not an intentional option... I don't really know how the SailfishOS porting process is supposed to work, but I have a Jolla and compared some of the things we found out in the chat with the Jolla; and to me it looks like you mostly take the userland from the Jolla, add changes and put that onto the new phone. Now, I don't know how familiar you are with desktop Linux (I have no idea if your interest is mainly Android or Linux in general), but if you are familiar: SailfishOS is very much like a desktop Linux distribution, amongst other things it is using systemd, udev and udisks2. @tdm I know you've got some ideas of what keycodes to assign the various modifier type keys, and recently I saw something about you doing some odd things with the slant-arrow keys that might restrict user customization, etc. I've chatted with mccreary a few times about my thoughts, and thus learned a lot of stuff, and wanted to share what I believe would be the ideal way to map keycodes in kernel that takes advantage of built-in AOSP features, and allows user to fully customize layout afterwards. I'm having two different Bluetooth related issues. The first one is that I can rarely connect to my car via Bluetooth unless I toggle airplane mode off and on several times to reset the Bluetooth adapter. It gets stuck at "connecting" but never connects without manual intervention. It pairs without an issue, just never actually connects. It will show as an active media device in the phone settings but isn't fully connected. If I try to disconnect and manually reconnect it will hang at "connecting" and sometimes give me a "failed to communicate" error. My Bluetooth ear1 point

Unfortunately I haven't been able to build abl yet. I know it's possible, as an fxtec developer said he was able to build it. He was using a different like Linux distro than me, which may be the issue. One of these days after lineage and the factory restore tool are both humming along without issues I'll try again.1 point

@Waxberry: Did you (fxtec) program the stock launcher? If so, could you open-source it? That might allow users to improve it or install it on LineageOS and such.1 point

Yep it is strange. However this may not be the fault of the developers but the one of the apps. I suppose Launchtime does just have a look at the app-tags in the store. However auto-categorizing can be turned off and it is a good thing ๐ Glad you are happy with lawnchair!1 point
