Here is my take on the phone http://talk.maemo.com/showpost.php?p=1562461&postcount=28497 points

yes, you can lock it via adb/fastboot. reboot to bootloader. adb reboot bootloader then you can lock it via fastboot fastboot oem lock this one worked for my actual phone, if it throws an error try one of those fastboot oem relock fastboot flashing lock if no error occured you can reboot with fastboot reboot but be aware that unlocking the bootloader again will wipe you phone.6 points

I don't use Google Pay either due to privacy reasons, but your argument is still wrong. It doesn't matter what smartphones were created for, it's the question what they are used for. And if people are used to watching the latest dog pictures in some internet forum (cough cough), then their criticism would be absolutely valid, if they couldn't do that with the Pro1. NFC payments have been part of smartphones a while ago and for many people have become a selling point nowadays. Just because you don't use it, doesn't mean that an advertised function can be missing or not working. A5 points

Nokia N900 - two times - from which the second one broke. currently i am still using my first N900 which is also my first mobile phone i ever bought, nearly 10y ago...4 points

I never was without physical keys and thanks to F(x)tec I can keep that tradition 😊 It started in 1998..... Philips Savvy (best SMS sound ever) -> Nokia 3210 (bumblebee ringtone ❤️ ....and it had T9) -> Nokia 5100 (black) (my first phone with color screen...but it looked like a skeleton) -> Sony Ericsson D750i (first phone with camera and (expensive!) internet which it loved to open) -> Sony Ericsson K770i (black) (same as D750i but fancier looking) -> Samsung SGH i200 (First "Smart"phone .... Windows Mobile 6.1) -> Nokia N95 8GB (Affordable Internet at las4 points

Please take this gently, as it's meant, but.......stop acting like you're starving to death because the food wagon hasn't been able to make it through the snowy mountain pass because a mule broke its leg and there was an avalanche, and your isolated 19th-century town in the mountains ran out of food weeks ago. This is a super-awesome device, but it's not like there aren't other things we can use in the meantime. I'm as excited as everyone else, but things happen. I'd rather they get it right than get it rushed. Delays happened, but it's in production, and it's looking like everyone who has ord3 points

Well damn it @EskeRahn I want Priority! My surname is Prior!!! Ugh this wait is killing me! Also when I come into work on Monday I anticipate pictures of the phone and a full rundown! XxX 🙂3 points

Not EskeRahn, but I can tell Bluetooth works but seems to have some issues. Somebody else already reporter of issues pairing with some headset. Today I tried with a bluetooth receiver (Procaster BT-02) which receives bluetooth signal and sends it to my home stereo. Basic connection/pairin works but looks like aptX doesn't work.3 points

(Just for comparison, this is how it looks with the default launcher) Edit: Added a few extra icons making the two blocks clearer3 points

No!!! i dont want any delay Even if the Pro1 is sent without the motherboard & processor in it 😛3 points

Depends, if the certification is finished before or after the second batch 😛3 points

This is actually what happened to Fxtec, if there were Credit Card issues some of the preorderes (including me) were manually opted-in to do PayPal. Their account was blocked shortly after, they had to unfreeze the funds with PayPal, which I believe can be a nightmare. PayPal is very consumer-friendly, sure, but a PITA for sellers.3 points

OK got it to run. Sorry for beeing a little bit nervous. Problem was, that It just takes very long to boot. At least the first time.2 points

My phones obviously lasts for a very long time, cause I am kind to them. Firstly I had Nokia 5110, then 3210 (behind my brother's business) for just a short time, then Ericsson R520m What a phone that was!!, But it was again second hand after my brothers business and had problems with Bluetooth, so I've bought my first brand new phone and immediately it was the best on the market: Nokia 6600. After a long time I tried Nokia E50, was fine, but sold it earlier to buy brand new E7, what died on USB connector, so Ive bought another one :) And now I am waiting for a Pro1 :) Just thinking that each2 points

I don't think I know all of them still but this is what I remember: Nokia 3310 -> Nokia ?? Maybe some weren't. But this one was. It's even listed in specs on home page, as someone already pointed out.2 points

I prefer them working on custom builds (or improving their compatibility) instead of trying to provide the quickest updates of a stock system. Most of us will flash a new rom anyways. But I've read somewhere that they are working on Android 10. Also, don't forget that the device was planned to be shipped in mid-september, before Android 10 was published.2 points

I'll take on anyone anytime. I still have a physical keyboard on my Droid 4, and will assuredly not be using anything else until my Pro1 arrives. I'm using it now....I've had lots of practice. :)2 points

OK, not to insult anyone, but how exactly is the ability to pay for your fuel and groceries related to a phone? This is a classic example of allowing one thing in your life to exert too much control over it. I really don't want to get into a huge ethical discussion about this, but certain people here are focusing on utterly non-smartphone features that are not at all innate to the use-case scenario for which a smartphone was built, and complaining that a smartphone can't do stuff which essentially has nothing to do with being a smartphone. Smartphones were made to communicate, not to transfer2 points

I don't think (however, I don't know "today" means which time zone, it is 19:44 here). So, I should be in the second batch as an IGG preorderer and still not received e-mail about it. Also, I think "Will send out fulfillment mails later" statement doesn't mean later in today but maybe later next week. Also they said most of the preorderers they wanted to be in second batch, so there is a high chance you may also. 🙂2 points

I'm curious what phones people have used in the past. For me: Nokia 3210 -> Nokia E70 -> Nokia N900 -> Motorola Droid 4 -> Motorola Moto Z -> F(x)tec Pro1 (hopefully, some time this year, maybe)1 point

Yes, and you certainly don't need to put the img in usr/bin you can leave it in downloads folder or whatever, just change to that directory first or use the full path.1 point

If it wasn't Google, Apple and so on, I'd use it too. It's contactless (something not all banks have as a standard) and for small payments which I make a lot, it would be really useful to have a list of purchases which doesn't conflict with the bank account. But it's Google so I skip this app. Anyways, it's still not my or your task to tell other people how to use their device. This is generally something I'd recommend for any kind situation: don't tell others what to do. (And no, I'm not telling you not to tell others what to do, I'm only recommending it!)1 point

Nah, you just buy ten Pro1s, and modify the nine with various DIY keyboard-replacements. I'm sure F(x)Tec would be very happy if a lot did that.... 😜1 point

Nice review! On the vignetting thing. It seems to be limited to the Google app in your examples. So I guess that means the Qualcomm app are compensating by boosting the brightness of the corners? Just did a quick test here with "OpenCamera" versus Qualcomm's and I see the same. Edit: I confused the labels as below not above the images, DOH There is also what i assume is a 'calibration' issues in the Camera2 API. If you do HDR in OpenCamera the stitching gets the brightness levels wrong, leaving a dark 'halo' around a bright subject. It is hardly a bug in OpenCamera as the1 point

Nice work. I was really hoping you would show how well it fits in the sleeve and what the sleeve is made of. I've been using the leather slip case for my Priv for about 3 years and being made from Nappa leather it just improves with age,1 point

You are asking for exact info on stuff there are only estimates for... It is a bit like asking today how many cm snow Stockholm will get for Christmas... There are so many things involved that is out of their control, or unexpected. Take the US customers for the first batch, where something with the custom paperworks delayed stuff so they did not get them as quickly as the Asian and European customers (I'm not even sure if they got them by now). I mean even after I got the tracking info from UPS on the Parcel from UK to Denmark (and that is not a long travel), UPS after having g1 point

And Waxberry already told that the certification is at the final stage and will be coming above, Would anyone have preferred an additional delay until the certification is completely finished? Just asking... 😇1 point

Can you they explain smartphone features? If its just for communication then maybe you can get a $100 phone that can communicate pretty well and battery last a week. Now a days paying by smartphone is normal and the definition of smartphone is the device smart enough to perform most of the tasks. I just my smartphone to pay all the time. there are lots of benefits and convenience with it.1 point

I designed the gamepad panel for fx pro1,currently only photo editing, because I don't have this phone. Maybe one day I got this phone and I will turn it into reality, just like on other phones,sk17i,BlackBerry keyone, priv, etc. fx pro1 has great potential to become a game phone.1 point

I use PayPal often, when it's available, because it's convenient. I'm not upset if it's not available though. I did hope that they'd accept PayPal for the payment, but frankly, the seller fees are pretty high, and all things considered, pulling out my card to copy the number only took another 30 seconds or so......hardly a difficulty. Again, F(x)tec is giving me what I've wished someone would for many years. Such tiny inconveniences are nothing in the grand scheme of things.1 point
