Okay all you qwertz folks, here's a Lineage boot image with my new keyboard driver: files.nwwn.com/android/pro1/boot-newkeyboard.img To use it, flash it to your boot partition, "fastboot flash boot boot-newkeyboard.img". Upon reboot the keyboard will have version 0002 which will make Android ignore the custom keymap file in the vendor partition. You will find the following files: /sys/devices/soc/c17a000.i2c/i2c-6/6-0058/layout This is the layout file. It can contain "qwerty" or "qwertz". So start by setting it to qwertz: echo "qwertz" > /sys/devices/so5 points

I have a dock with HDMI out and two usb ports (Aten US3310), using that one the phone charges while showing HDMI. External mouse and keyboard works fine as well. In portrait mode there are lots of black padding to the left and right of the image on the screen. In landscape there is padding at top and bottom. It would be nice if there was some way to get apps to zoom out when using external monitor so everything is reasonable sized.3 points

I'm getting on ok with my Pro1, even more so after realising split screen mode allows apps that don't co-operate with landscape mode to work on half of the screen when in landscape. However, in other ways it's not as optimal as my Priv Keyword prediction and swiping : this was a huge strength of the Priv. Is there a virtual keyboard that only supplies keyword suggestions when in landscape (keyboard open) mode? I could import the Blackberry keyboard probably, but would rather try other options/pay for an existing product. It would also be lovely to map something to 'delete word to the left2 points

...and a couple of other useful settings adb shell settings put global sms_outgoing_check_max_count 99999 adb shell settings put global sms_outgoing_check_interval_ms 9000 If you don't want to be nagged by Android on sending 'many' base-sms within a short time span. I think the default is 100 in half an hour, so if you are sending a 600 char text with just a single special letter to ten friends - you reach the limit, and are nagged for half an hour2 points

Earlier today I saw mccreary post elsewhere that he updated the GSI test files (same link as in the first post) and if the changes he's been talking about are working, it should be getting pretty good by now.2 points

We really need stickies in this forum for info like this. I only really learned this here myself. Now, if I'm going to charge overnight, I use an older slow charger (or from a PC i leave on overnight). Quick charger is now reserved for when I'm getting ready to go out and see my phone isn't full enough, as it can add a lot of charge real quick.2 points

Thank you, so much! (Receiving an award) I'd like to thank my manager, my parents, all my colleagues and also folks at F(x)tec for making this possible. (Applause and music) ... Who's next? 😉2 points

Let us help F(x)tec with some show casing! I hope everybody will flash it around and spread the word to everybody they think might be just a little bit interested, or might know one that is... At Crackberry a guy was asking where he could try it hands on. So if you are willing to be contacted by someone that wants a hands on before buying, here is a tread to post your Country, state/region, nearest larger town, Then people can create an account in here and send a PM to arrange further. I've done some more 'research' and there are volume apps which offer separate control of notification volume, and I now tried two (arbitrarily selected "Volume Manager" by ByteHamster and "Volume Control Panel Pro" by LeeDrOiD Apps), but at least with the Moto Z3 Play both the ring volume slider and the notification volume slider move when I move either of them. It seems, though, that there actually are some devices which do not physically combine both, even with Android 9 (see this thread on Reddit which is about a different subject but proves that someone managed to control ring volume and n1 point

Mine's arrived from Clove, only ordered 12 days ago. (It would've arrived three days if it hadn't been for the weird inability for the UPS delivery person to find the building.) Anyway, I'm happy with it so far. There's a lot of niggles I need to sort out, but so far so good. 👍1 point

yeah, on amazon.co.uk try looking for the same item/seller in another amazon free delivery for me from amazon.de or .fr for example1 point

The only time I did a file transfer, I did it with sftp. Set nemo's password on Sailfish OS-Fxtec Pro1 side, and then sftp-ed in from Nokia N900, to transfer a few photographs and some music (copy, not cut). Used one of the photographs later to create an ambience, and a few audio files as ringtone/SMS sounds in this ambience. Didn't time the file transfer. But it went without a hitch, no supervision required. Was a few hundreds of MBs (some audio files were flac , such as, Morricone music from archive.org ). File transfer over microSD card was surprisingly untenable in comparison. Pr1 point

I just set up my SD card as internal storage. Solves the problem for the most part. Good to know the Pixel stuff isn't needed for the camera. Regardless, I like the pixel features 😀1 point

Although its's more of FedEX issue but I will pushing / checking with out logistics partner see if there is anything we could do to speed that up. That seems rediculous to me as well!1 point

Oh brother! This is the first I've heard about this. So because they took the SD card out of the Pixel, they *had* to rip the option out to write to the SD card when it is available? Really good thinking by google engineers there. Do you know if that Pocophone version of gcam has the same issue? That one apparently took better pictures in low light vs the Pixel version, from what I remember reading on here. My only thought about the SD card issue is that if a phone is rooted, an app like FolderMount (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.devasque.fmount&hl=en_1 point

Me: "I am so sick of this damned thing slipping out of my hand every time I pick it up. Hubby: "What do you want? Just something that will give you some grip?" Me: "Yes, but I don't want anything permanent. I want something that will come off cleanly with no residue." Hubby: "Are you looking for practical or pretty?" Me: "Functional. I don't care what it looks like." Hubby: "Let me work..." So I give you generic Ruggies and a perfect tactile grip that comes off clean, low profile, doesn't make the phone heat up.. ...This is rather absurd. You REALLY honestly believe that there were/are no Quality Control and they have not ironed out a LOT of major and minor bugs before you even saw it? Please get real. I for one have since last spring reported a bunch of bugs that have been fixed, many they already knew. And that was even before the beta-testers got them. And yes it happens that fixing one bug creates a new one, that no one imagined could be related, and hence did not test...1 point

Portrait keyboard is fine (yeah, fight me)... it's losing part of the display that's the bigger issue. And besides, a portrait screen with two apps running top/bottom split would've worked great for the Priv, if only it got updated to Nougat to get the said functionality.1 point

Not a huge loss. No root, no custom OS, portrait keyboards, etc. etc. 😀1 point

I'm not sure I understand this comment since, according to the specs, the Pro1 does support LTE band 13.1 point

-99 dBm for LTE isn't that bad of a signal. My Pixel 3 XL is getting a LTE signal of around -109 dBm. Anything -115 dBm and up on the other hand is a different story....1 point

...Sometimes when printing wears off stickers it leaves an 'inverse' image that can be viewed with certain angles/light sources. Have you tried shining various lights at it and seeing if anything is visible? ...And now I'm glad I removed my sticker and stuck it on the packaging.1 point

To this day, I don't know what my sticker S/N number is as it wore off before I realized it was wearing off. I wonder if F(x) has a record of the number of my assigned unit. 😉1 point

If you want to keep it visible and on, you better cover it with some protection, as others have reported the print the wear off rather easily.1 point

I would, but I have the distinct honor of having serial number #999, which I quite like, and thus may want to show it off at some point. Unless all the labels say 999, in which case 😕1 point

Thanks for the info, Polaris. I was suspicious that the Blackberry may be lying to me about 4 bars. I will say that this photo is the only time they were that close together while I was testing this. Otherwise I would walk around the roof of our building with one phone or the other and these values really wouldn't change much, though the dBm reading on the Blackberry was generally slightly better than the Pro1. I feel like regularly the Pro1 would get up to -99.0 dBm and still only show maybe 1 bar, so I'm still confused about the relationship between bars and phones and dBm. If you'r1 point
-
Note: I'm replying to this separately as they are totally different issues... -99dBm is awful signal (becoming borderline unusable) and there is no way the BB should be showing 4 bars! -107 beyond horrible and probably mostly unusable (meaning tons of packet retries). Nonetheless, the BB appears to have a much better receiver (than the Pro1) in that site 148 has a 6 dBm improvement (over the Pro1), and site 149 has a full 10 dBm improvement (over the Pro1). As I'm sure you know, it's a logarithmic scale where 3 dBm refers to a doubling of the power and 10 dBm would be a ten fold in1 point

I have tried HDMI output, it also works well. I have tried two adapters: - This one works for screen sharing but no audio going through - This one is more than a HDMI output but audio also going through HDMI here, USB ports are working, I have also connected a power supply while a video was playing on Youtube and it could also charge the phone (but only with 5V, so no Quick Charge this way). However, LAN interface is currently not working (maybe appropriate kernel module is missing). (Currently it is a bit more expensive than it was earlier but it is also not a cheap device - I th1 point

Pro1 is under an approval (final stage) from Google to activate security features. Once it's finished we will release an OTA to activate contactless payment. Everything has been submitted and we are awaiting.1 point
