Yes there will be an official lineage build. But first all the major issues must be resolved. And as you have found, there are a few. I think everything you mentioned is a known issue. Look on my lineage page for the git repos and issue tracker link. I'm working through the issues as I can. I do this in my "spare" time and I'm not paid except for having been given a device for development. As you may have noticed, I'm working on quite a lot more than just lineage. I've released a factory restore tool that has saved at least a dozen sailfish victims from bricking their d9 points

I agree. Keeping everyone save is way more important. But I can imagine many of the workers in china are not getting paid when they are absent. They will probably want to return to work soon. Anyway, to keep this thread somewhat complete, I'll post the newsletter from Fxtex, which arrived yesterday.5 points

Let's see, there are a number of games I play on the Pro1 Where Is the Setting Game How Do I Make This Stop Search Game What Does This Do Challenge The Volume Game Puzzle The Notification Light Game Holding The Pro Russian Roulette Can You Hear Me Challenge I find new games to play EVERY time I use it. It's such fun :D4 points

I haven't used it since years ago when it was "Classic Shell" but you can try "Open Shell" and see if it does enough for you. https://open-shell.github.io/Open-Shell-Menu/ I only use Windows for very basic stuff anymore and have no patience for tweaking it any more. I have all the programs I use on the task bar (including the depreciated "Command Prompt" DOS box they don't want you to use anymore) and, really, the task bar is my UI.3 points

Those secret special android based apps! I am aware some Android apps are linux based. I mean why not, its not that hard to make an android app out of an existing linux app if you know what you're doing. It's also pretty clear many SailfishOS apps are linux based. I mean, sfos is more linux than android; we have gcc, we can build from source on device and run it. That is a major step closer to real linux than Android. In fact, manhy linux apps just work on sfos already. Like other linux distros. I forgot why I started writing this.3 points

Keep all of the keyboard profiles unchecked. When you see the notification, slide it left or right partially and you'll see the notifications icon. Hit that and you can hide the notification permanently. Can also be done for other annoying notifications!3 points

No, the orientation thing is handled in the slider settings. The only things you lose in a new launcher are the assignment of apps to keys (which I decided didn't matter to me right now because it has the flaw of adding the key-presses from the held down key to any app that opens in input mode (like an app asking for a password or a document in an editor) and the particular way the launcher is set up to not stretch and distort widgets (which I don't find worth it without more features in a launcher).2 points

I had a similar issue with my PC; all fastboot commands would yield this error. I tried using my old laptop running PopOS and all fastboot commands worked fine. I later tried PopOS on my tower and still no go. Maybe something with IO ports being newer hardware?2 points

It has been disabled because of some problems it created. They are working on it. Don't know time scale, With the phone closed, yeah, power button or fingerprints. With FinQwerty (not to sound like a broken record) the Sym key will wake. I know the default keyboard started out with the Esc key being wake, but I'm not sure that didn't go away later. Been too long since I used the default layout so I'm fuzzy on some things.2 points

Hello, So I received my pre-order Pro1 a few weeks ago. But getting it setup and usable has been slow. My current Samsung Galaxy S Relay 4g slide is getting a bit old, still running Cyanogen as Lineage does not support it. As such its starting to have SSL errors everywhere and is quickly getting to the point its unworkable. My needs are simple, I need a decent input device (keyboard), root access (I really don't understand why anyone would accept a device they don't have control over), permission controls (Privacy guard works for this in Lineage) and all the basic things terminal2 points

On a PC it is because there is a microcontroller in the keyboard that can actually run firmware (traditionally a 8052 if i recall, but we've long since moved on from that). In the pro1 the driver itself handles all these things, and the keyboard is done with a relatively simple multiplexer chip (an aw9523, the same chip used by Cosmo Communicator/Gemini and Unihertz Titan incidentally :D). I second what @Hook recommended. I've been using Classic Shell for years. I know it's out of active development and someone else took it over I guess as Open Shell, but I'm using classic shell 4.3.1 with my windows 10 at work. I am holding onto Win 7 at home, where I also use it since the "new menus" are terrible IMHO.1 point

This happened both on Aukey PA-U32 and PA-T16. If you disconnect and connect back, it may start charging quickly.1 point

Is this of any use? I would have thought the update would have already been provided OTA, but I don't know (and no longer have Windows 7). Since I had Nexus devices when I had Windows 7 I have no idea if it could read larger cards or not. 😄 https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/976422/the-capacity-of-a-secure-digital-sd-card-that-is-larger-than-32-gb-is Or is that page OBE?1 point

How odd htat you are not allowed to request the device-info?!? Can you send a "fastboot reboot" ?1 point
-
Yes, unfortunately there are a lot of protocols, and not all fall back in a smart way. AFAIK the new PD does not fall back to other fast charge protocols. It could be that it is as stupid as licence issues - but that is just guessing... It would be nice if the protocols were 'nested' so the device and charger just had to agree on the highest both supports.1 point

fastboot oem device-info FAILED (Write to device failed (Unknown error)) fastboot: error: Command failed C:\platform-tools_r29.0.5-windows\platform-tools> I've tried two different USB and two different ports...This is kind of stumping me. Maybe I could try a fresh sdk installation?1 point

well if you play around a bit with magisk modules and the phone does not boot. You can flash back the original bootloader and the phone will boot again. But the problem is that you can not uninstall the problamatic magisk module as the magisk manager is not able to see the installed modules. The solution is the so called "core" magisk version. https://forum.xda-developers.com/pixel-4-xl/how-to/magisk-modules-disabler-booting-magisk-t3990557 I used the aproach that disables magisk modules after flashing the patched bootloader. When you boot the device remove the problematic module, de1 point

I think it does and since I'm still waiting I am happy to receive such update. It shows that they care which is more important than a specific date.1 point

My guess is that it was formatted for exFAT in the S7. exFAT doesn't work in the Pro1. If that is the case, you'll have to copy off any data you want to save, and then let the Pro1 format it as FAT32 and then copy the data back (if you want the data in the Pro1). If you need to put it back in the S7, it should still work after the Pro1 formats it. The only limitation would be if you have files larger than 4GB on it now. FAT32, what the Pro1 will format it as, has a file limit of 4GB. Congratulations on the new phone. It is interesting that you just got it now.1 point
-
Provided it is a genuine card, you should be fine. Cards larger than 32 GB come preformatted as exFAT, and can handle file sizes greater than 4 GB. But you can reformat them for FAT32. You just lose the ability to have files larger than 4 GB. Now, as a separate issue, whether you can easily access the card through the phone, when the phone is plugged into a Windows 7 machine... I can't on my Windows 7 machine. If I enable USB debugging, I can get the internal storage to show up under PTP, but I don't see internal nor external storage when I pick "File transfers" (MTP) mode. Whatever happened to that prototype hard case? If it's not going into final production, I think they should decide ASAP to release the dimensions/manufacturer and so on...1 point

Not sure if SFOS would support APKs then, but I could see myself using SFOS instead of Android, so I'd pay for a good OS. But it'd have to be easy and most things should be working - then I'd buy a license and switch.1 point

If they need a specific amount that is not secret then crowd funding could perhaps be an option?1 point

Yep, somebody did, but not after bricking their device - after noticing the odd partitions back dec 19, its common knowledge in sfos chatrooms I believe, but lotsa new ppl got devices recently. It's on the github issue tracker... https://github.com/sailfish-on-fxtecpro1/droid-config-t5/issues/241 point

FYI... for those following this thread: The Linux and Windows tools have been updated and now flash xbl properly. This has been verified with real bricked devices (no shortage of those recently!) I'll try to update the MacOS version within a day or two. I asked the Sailfish developers to please remove the option to flash internal storage partitions. They had no idea so many people were doing this, and said they would fix it soon. That's great, but why didn't they know? Did nobody file a bug report or anything after bricking their device?!?1 point

@EskeRahn Unrelated topic, but do you know the app 'Ampere'? Best app I know to help you avoid/choose a charger that does fast charge. (Depending whether you want a hot/fast charge or a slow charge/cool 😎 battery.)1 point

@tdm I know you've got some ideas of what keycodes to assign the various modifier type keys, and recently I saw something about you doing some odd things with the slant-arrow keys that might restrict user customization, etc. I've chatted with mccreary a few times about my thoughts, and thus learned a lot of stuff, and wanted to share what I believe would be the ideal way to map keycodes in kernel that takes advantage of built-in AOSP features, and allows user to fully customize layout afterwards. Esc --> Esc Slant Arrows --> Meta (left & right - separate key codes ar1 point

Yes really odd. Only tried out the most basic of the launcher, not open&close. For some reason F(x)tec have chosen the 'keys' to be sent at close&open as F5 & F6, so at first I thought if total Launcher reacts to those, but that is NOT it. If I fake the keys by one of these adb shell input keyevent 135 adb shell input keyevent 136 The bug does not follow. So the slide open/close does more than just sending those - that was new to me.... Interesting... ADD: Please note that the above is not entirely correct, @Sean McCreary pointed out that it sends Fn-F5 &am1 point

Unfortunately I haven't been able to build abl yet. I know it's possible, as an fxtec developer said he was able to build it. He was using a different like Linux distro than me, which may be the issue. One of these days after lineage and the factory restore tool are both humming along without issues I'll try again.1 point

@tdm can you actually compile ABL? Perhaps a good idea would be to enable "fastboot boot" command.1 point

On the wireless front, I did some testing late last night. The laptop used is a Windows 7 laptop with an internal 802.11n adapter I have an 802.11ac adapter, but haven't installed it yet. The router/wireless access point is an ASUS tri-band router, with a 2.4 Ghz radio and two 5.8 Ghz radios. For file transfers, I was running a WebDAV server on the Pro1 and mapping that as a drive letter in Windows Explorer. This approach would only let me send data to the Pro1, not from the Pro1 to the laptop. I'm guessing that is due to the lousy WebDAV client built into Windows. I'll try with a b1 point

You can actually report back, so I assume they use that, and have a database on where the most common apps belong1 point
